Ever since I seen Social Distortion open up for the Ramones decades ago, I have been a big fan. Seen them live so many times and they never let you down. The lyrics are the icing on the cake. Mike's lyrics can give you a visual of his life and many times our own lives. Long Live Social D!
I was at their show in Warsaw last Sunday. What can I say? That was the best show I ever been to. That feeling when you listen to a band for like half of your entire life, and now you finally see them live. Damn, I will never forget those moments.
i dont know...i know times are tuff but i saw these guys and the Rev, about 30 yrs ago for $15. i am not paying 150.00. no doubt Mike and the boys were a Huge part of my life(56). but its time i stood aside and let the younger ones enjoy. anyhow. their music, however will play on eternity through my speakers
Love this song. I can easily see this as being one of their staple songs and hearing it on the radio all the time. Got tix for this summers concert at Hampton Beach and I can't wait!
Amazing to witness the evolution of Mike Ness. He is still improving. I'm 34 years old but Social D is my favourite band by far. Privilege to have seen him in Zurich this year.
Some people were asking for the lyrics so this is what I came up with. They're not perfect but pretty close. No man walks the chains on the railroad tracks Dead end kids who slip beneath the cracks We found time getting high We did our best to get by And we say goodbye to the way things were No one said that life would be so hard So I went out on stage with an old guitar I wrote a song with a stolen riff You ain't got a star, you ain't got shit And we say goodbye to the way things were Sometimes I think of when we were young We didn't have a care Sometimes I wish that life would just stand still We lit the fire when it all began Then we watched it all burn down again And we say goodbye to the way things were Sometimes I think of when we were young We didn't have a care I want to go back to a simple place in time As the night falls we shed a tear Watching freedoms disappear And we say goodbye to the way things were I surely struck my luck now and I found love I didn't know how fortunate that I was I said I'm old and to let go Til it's time to leave this world And we say goodbye to the way things were Sometimes I think of when we were young We didn't have a care Why do all good things come to an end? Like it was just yesterday Watching your dreams fade away And you say goodbye to the way things were And you say goodbye to the way things were
Can anyone get the lyrics? I'm not a native speaker, so I get like 70% of what Mike is singing. I am in love with this vocal line and I want to play and sing it, but I can't do it properly 😔 Please, help 🙏🙏🙏
I think it is very hard to get, too. he's mumbling words a lot (I assume lyrics are not finished anyway) and not a native speaker, too but here is what I get, maybe it fills some gaps... throwing rocks at trains on our railroad tracks? Wow love this song, great lyrics and Mike sounds great
Social D is like whiskey the older the better

No man walks the chains on the railroad tracks
Dead end kids who slip beneath the cracks
We found time getting high
We did our best to get by
And we say goodbye to the way things were
No one said that life would be so hard
So I went out on stage with an old guitar
I wrote a song with a stolen riff
You ain't got a star, you ain't got shit
And we say goodbye to the way things were
Sometimes I think of when we were young
We didn't have a care
Sometimes I wish that life would just stand still
We lit the fire when it all began
Then we watched it all burn down again
And we say goodbye to the way things were
Sometimes I think of when we were young
We didn't have a care
I want to go back to a simple place in time
As the night falls we shed a tear
Watching freedoms disappear
And we say goodbye to the way things were
I surely struck my luck now and I found love
I didn't know how fortunate that I was
I said I'm old and to let go
Til it's time to leave this world
And we say goodbye to the way things were
Sometimes I think of when we were young
We didn't have a care
Why do all good things come to an end?
Like it was just yesterday
Watching your dreams fade away
And you say goodbye to the way things were
And you say goodbye to the way things were
🎉😎
