This is the best DW install video on RUclips. In particular because you showed how to make the drain hose extension. There are numerous complaints on the web about this dishwasher smelling and I'm convinced its an installation matter.
Joel Drubin the dish washer water will start to smell in hose if its not used or flushed out every week . so best to run the dish washer to keep fresh water in there ,if the water sits it will start to smell ,just a fact.
Hey man I just subscribe to your channel, man I gotta say love how very detailed you are you show exactly what your doing no frills keep them videos coming.
I’ll be installing a Bosch dishwasher later today. I see you were able to fit the junction to the back wall. Bosch recommends putting it under the sink but you had no trouble fitting the dishwasher in. Good to know. Great video
Nice video! I'm installing one for my Mom next week. Love the copper inside the hose on extension also. One question where do you check for horizontal level? I see where you raise everything but what about leveling? Thanks again!
If you mount the junction under the sink, you will have more depth, to allow the front edge of the panel to line up with the front edge of the counter top, for a cleaner look.
Thanks Steve. Why did you mount the electrical connection box in the same cabinet space as the dishwasher? The install manual says not to do that. Instead it should be mounted in an adjacent cabinet (usually under the sink)
some Bosh dishwashers have the drain line conected and looped around the side of the uint. And inside the dishwasher there is another drain line. do you connect these two lines together like a longer extention of the line? or does the drain line from the inside of the dishwasher connect somewhere else?
Also, our new Bosch dishwasher has a terrible, oily type of smell which is due to bitumen (from what I have read on the internet). What can be done to make the smell go away? Thanks.
Question, Do you ever have to read the instructions on certain things? And if so do you go out to the truck and read it or do you read it in front of the customer, because sometimes when I do things I read the instructions and I wonder if it make people feel a certain way.
Why do I wear gloves? Why should we speak ENGLISH?! Thanks for that Steve!! We both either came from another language speaking country, or had parents that did. We ( or they did) learn English, why can't they? Slowly catching up on your vids - I'm only 3 months behind... KEEP THEM COMING! I hope you do (or maybe have done?) a horizontal lead job with a choker. Pete P.S. - Them Krauts don't make life easy - over engineer everything - do they?! I know, I'm a Kraut!
Good job Steve, Was that your SC 56 that you used to test for voltage ? I have been shopping on E-bay for meters. I found a SC 67 new for $125.88 and a SC 53 new for $103.50 I am also looking at the SC 420. undecided. Again great job on video.
gerry mcadams there all good i would get one that does inrush current like the sc56,,on this job i used the sc67 i believe no swivel head ..i have a ton of different meters i like the sc56 the best it does inrush
Very interesting... German dishwasher meets American kitchen... What counts is that people like you are patient enough not to butcher those funny euro-components. Good thing the housekeeper was there. The only thing worse that a dishwasher when it comes to the mice evidence is a wall oven. That junction box is an Americanized European-style junction box, the main difference being that it was made larger but still not enough IMO. Be glad it wasn't a native junction box, it would be half that size. Curious what size wire was in that cord, AWG or metric. By default Europeans use terminal strips and stab connectors instead of twist-on wire nuts, which is good (terminal strips) and bad (stab connectors).
Dwight, the euro stab connectors are pretty much different than the US stab type (at least the wago ones) but yeah I agree, screw terminals are better. My guess would be the cord was AWG, given the colour code was US standard, although I've noticed here in the UK we're getting dual rated cord, such as '1.5mm2/14AWG' etc. I imagine they're taking the larger size and just 'under declaring' the other one, if that makes sense. I have some 30 amp rated wagos 'push in' connectors, some red wirenuts, and 30A rated strip connectors. One day when I get bored, I'm gonna put them all in series and run a small overcurrent (maybe 40-45A) through them and see what effect it has, I'm thinking the wirenut will win (When installed properly, they're pure wire-wire, and the best possible connection), but I am unsure whether strip connector or wago push in will come last...
***** Interesting, would be a good idea to take a piece of that wire and find out which number is correct, because 14AWG is 2.08mm². I always worry about some of those China-made cables being true to spec. One time I cut open one that was supposed to be 18AWG, and the wire in the cord was as this as several strands of hair on my head - they put extra insulation filler to make the outer sheath look like the right size. To say the least it had no legitimate markings. I cut it into a bunch of small pieces so that nobody else could use it after I tossed it in the trash.
Nice video but it would have been more helpful if you explained what you were doing and just some overall tips for installing. It may seem basic for you but for someone who's never done an install it becomes brain surgery
brianl9944 no air gap needed in my state,,, on newer dishwashers .on some of the older dishwasher came with a air gap to install ,,,then i would install one .

nice work steve. have you ever had a dishwasher that you couldn't get out because they had a bunch of layers of flooring in front of it?
old1234 a few times i usually just lift up the counter to get them out
Just wondering why the water discharge hose was extended?
Mark Early it has to go up to the bottom of counter them back down into drain ,so if the drain ever backs up the dish washer does not fill with water
fyi the junction should be mounted in sink cabinet this way the dishwasher could go all the way back and be flush with cabinet
