Is it darkest time or darkness lies? I always assumed possibly incorrectly that it was "darkness dies".. BUT then again I thought she was continuously playing that stacatto chord flat purposely. (Not a music major, lol)

It's "Darkness dies" and if you think of it , it makes sense "tell the sun NOT to rise for the darkness dies" if the sun was to rise the darkness would disappear(die)

@@pinkygrl1980 makes sense for me to be “for the darkness lies” because in the song she’s saying she knows it’s over but to give her one more night before she has to let go. So the darkness lies meaning it masks the fact that it’s over for them until morning when the sun rises.

@@treidkr3 The darkness is her shield from facing the harsh truth and she wants to remain there a while longer, hence 'tell the sun not to rise' because when it does the darkness dies... plus repeatedly listening there is no detectable L sound in either of the two verses whereas the D is subtly present to my ear. I do like your explanation however.
