Intermediate pipe upgrade on the VB WRX because of this..

- Today I replaced the intermediate pipe on the VB WRX because of what happened while I was driving. I go into what happened in the video - but this upgrade has been a silver lining because now the WRX is faster, louder and the exhaust is nice and tucked up high. highly recommend this as an upgrade!
The before and after of the tuck was pretty impressive.
I don't even scrape on driveways and entrances to shops whereas before it was pretty bad once I lowered the car haha so happy!
@@JoelBrownefilms you didn't seem lowered by that much either, I was surprised you got damage. Good info btw, as I want to lower my VB, and had no idea on this exhaust issue.
I don't know how much it cost you but X force do a 3" secondary cat delete pipe for the VB its currently $246 which can be used with the stock front pipe.
@@thebagdersarse5824 yeah that's also a good option so you can go back to standard if you want to sell. I had to go this route as the worksite paid for the fix but it had to be through a shop

This is why I have air cups on my VB - Too many close calls with crap on the road in WA..
Air cups would be super handy!

what aircups do you have? Thinking of going that route but dont know much about it
what are your thoughts on the varex catback? in terms of daily driving, and how loud it is with the valves open
It's great, I actually found it was a little quiet for my liking. Has a nice note to it and closed the valves are very quiet I have since upgraded the intermediate pipe and it makes it super handy to be able to shut the mufflers to not annoy me neighbors on cold start or late at night
This is one of the reason why I don't lower my car.
I don't understand radically lowering cars that don't live on a track.

did this create any drone?
I would suspect without the varex valved exhausts it would. Because I can close the varex mufflers I find there is no drone on highways in the closed position. It is a heap louder than before though and I have to make sure I start my car with the varex closed or it will annoy the neighbours - still nothing as loud my old straight piped sti haha
What's the point on heat wrapping an exhaust ? Lol
Because the pipe going from 2 inch to 3 inch clashes on the header when you go over large bumps. The heat wrap cushions it if you do go over a large bump
CV axle boot is close by which the extra heat can cause premature failure. The OEM intermediate pipe has a heat shield in that area…
