Well not really cause they did switch from story to story. So who knows exactly what they did but now they are just focusing on one version of Rick. Where it's hinted they didn't do that throughout the show. So does this really even matter. I mean Rick could literally be putting on a show for Morty like he always does.

I mean Beth's death (and his wife's) is what motivated him to finish his dimension hopper and spent years trying to find the Rick who killer her and his wife. Then he spent years finding a timeline where she's alive and her Rick had not been there for years
Rick wants to stop himself from loving adult Beth because it's a reminder of his failure to save her, meanwhile he pushes that self-loathing onto Jerry because he wants someone external to blame for Beth not living up to her full potential because his Beth died, but all other Beths were abandoned by other versions of himself and pushed into relationships by Ricks to make Mortys so...yeah, he doesn't want to admit his shortcomings.

My personal headcanon about that moment was that rick figured that another rick sacrificed himself for morty. He realized morty turned him soft enough to be willing to sacrifice himself.

You know, moments like these hit harder when you realize that Morty Prime isn't even Rick C-137's grandson. By all rights he should have just been another replaceable Morty, but he loves this particular Morty anyway, enough to sacrifice himself over.

It's going to be okay. If Justin Roiland is in fact guilty of what he stands accused of, removing him from the show was entirely justified. The new voice actors sould similar enough that over time, we will notice the difference less and less.

Rick and north definitely had its moments, it was a good show. Not sure about the new season but the old voice actor really brought a lot of depth to the characters.

I think this Rick is the saddest of all, apparently he is the only Rick who did not have a Morty naturally, since his family died, also, he is the only Rick who chose his family before than to interdimensional travel. Really sad this Rick, too scared to love, but not enough to make the same decision twice.

I think maybe he loves this Morty the most because he knows Rick Prime cared less about Morty than he did anything else. He literally found the most unloved thing in the Multiverse and cared for it.
I love how the other Ricks see Morty gone and say “WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME”
Remember that episode when there were lots of parasites in there house which only had good memories with them. Morty said that he only has bad memories with Rick but what about this one? He was ready to give his life.
I know the ink splotch after 'piss master' is probably just meant to be a piss joke, but I like to think it was Rick so full of anger and pain from what he's about to do that he just *slams* the pen into the paper
This is why Rick will be one of my favorite characters, He did what no one else would’ve had the balls to do in this entire show.

Rick Sanchez Is a good man in my opinion, he loves his family very much and wants Morty to succeed
Something to note is that this Morty isn't Rick's original. This is Prime Rick's Morty, the grandson of the man who killed his wife and drove him to be this depressed sack of interdimensional shit. Yet he still sacrificed himself to save Morty Prime with absolute certainty, even at the cost of depriving himself of the chance to kill Rick Prime.
Admittedly the writers probably didn't think this far ahead, but it really does unintentionally enrich this scene.
