1990 movie donatello is what made him my favorite Turtle when I was younger. I admired how (subtly) smart he was. Its hard to choose a favorite turtle today, I feel like each of them speak to me in different ways
Donnie has always been my favorite, and I've never met a fellow fan who shares Donnie as their favorite. I love him in the original films, but I also think he's great in the 80s cartoon as well. Raph is the dry and sarcastic one, Mikey is the surfer dude goofball, but Donnie has a different sort of humor to him in the 80s show. He's kinda dry and sarcastic like Raph, but he's more world weary in his attitude and delivery. Kinda like a "Oh god, here we go again" vibe.
I feel like a combination between the 1990 and 1991 Donatello would make the perfect character for him. They showed it just enough to make him appear as more as the “machine guy” so I think the 1990 personality and 1991 tech skills would make the perfect donnie
Without a doubt, the absolute perfect depiction of Donatello ever, I honestly don't like the idea of him being a huge tech nerd at all, it's much better Lowkey and doesn't make him a cliche, which he often ends up being, he has more character and a good sense of humor in this movie

I'm not even out of High School yet, and I feel like I've grown up with this movie. I had it on DVD, and nearly broke the DVD player watching it so much. I love TMNT so much, and this is my favorite incarnation of TMNT of all time.

The 1990 Donatello was more of a mechanic/technician. His demeanor was more relatable and realistic in my opinion. Making him and Raphael my favorites in the original 1990 film.
I saw a video recently where the original April O’Neil (Judith Hoag) interviewed Ernie Reyes Jr. and the dude who played Raphael (pictured on the right of Ernie at 8:36). He claims that he was the one who replaced the injured Hong Kong stuntman, as the scene where Casey Jones knocks raph head first into a city park waste basket actually broke the stuntman’s nose and he couldn’t wear the suit’s head anymore. Maybe Ernie did also replace an injured Hong Kong stunt actor, but they don’t mention that in the interview.
All though I don’t mind 2 and 3 it’s amazing how much better the first movie is. All so the costumes are FAR FAR better. They all most look real in number one
forgot The Next Mutation, short lived LIVE action series by Saban, released in 1997, essentially sequel to TMNT III, it's set in the same subway base, has many Foot soldier costumes from the original film, Shredder is back. but, no April or Casey. The Turtle suits are better than the 3rd film, Splinter is alright. The show also had Venus Di Milo, who is in a few episodes and then disappears
I'm new to your channel, so I'm catching up on all of your videos, but I really appreciate all of your work! You inspired me to re-watch the original live action movie, and this video reminded me that in addition to the one obvious scene with Donatello wearing the straw hat, I remember seeing a single shot with him wearing it just at the beginning of their training before returning to the city to find Splinter. I had never noticed it before.
You know I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and I think this would make a great idea for a video.. How many human characters know about the existence of the ninja turtles. It be a really cool video to see.
This is still the closest to the Mirage Don. He's smart, tech saavy and a Mr. Fix-it, but he's not a super genius like all the other versions. Not to mention he had the best fighting skills of all 4 turtles
My favorite moment with this Donny is in the first movie with Casey at the farm as there fixing the truck and there having that conversation and if you actually pay attention you can see that they are playing a game where they have to come up with an insult starting with the letter of the alphabet like with gack face , done head and elf lips was a really good was of showing his intelligence and his youth at the same time and it was the funniest scene in the movie at the farm

Yes and no. It can be argued that both the 2007 animated films and Next mutation series are continuations of the orginal trilogy of films but there is also contradictory plot points and evidence to say otherwise.
