The thing about Overlord is that it isn't an anime about fantasy fights or whatever like the "standard" Isekai. I always though about it like a "Cold War" fantasy anime, with Ainz and his minions going around like -Hey we want this and if you don't do it quick, we'll nuke you to pieces. Maybe it isn't the best illustration, but everything in Overlord up until now feels like politics, not just this arc. Edit: Would love to see Ainz taking off his mask after the battle like "Hey, I'm just an undead, come all together with your little pieces of s... Priests..." (To this Golden Arthur wannabe and every single one of the kingdoms allied with him xD)
Yeah, a "salary man" that doesn't even doubt about using human skin (farmed on HIS human farms) for making spell scrolls. He may think once or twice in a episode like a normal guy, but he's not.
But Ainz defeated an entire branch of the Slane Theocracy, when Gazeth, (who is supposed to be the strongest warrior in the kingdom) was having trouble with a few angels. This made him realize the complete difference in his power compared to Ainz’s
it was not mentioned in the anime but Gazeff went back to investigate the aftermath of Ainz' battle and he found nothing. This gave him a conclusion that Ainz simply dealt the entire Theocracy Scripture with an overwelming power, so overlwelming that it leaves no traces behind.
I watch your reviews about Overlord and really enjoy them. You have a natural flow to your presentation and I can appreciate how much depth, knowledge and love you have for the series. Also as a non-reader, it helps to fill in the gaps for us who don't know the minor characters and motivations. Keep up the good work!
The thing about Overlord, to me any way, is that while yes, I certainly "love" Ainz as a character, the big draw for me is how good the world building is. I can't even remember the last time I watched an anime that actually built a proper world for us to immerse ourselves in. Not just "Here's a town, stuff happens in it", but an actual world with proper locations, proper distances between the locations, proper events happening even when the main character isn't around so on and so forth. I only started watching Overlord a few weeks ago and only because I recieved an injury that locked me to my bed for a few weeks, I was originally just going to rewatch one of my favorite animes (Slayers) and maybe rewatch some of the older Gundam seasons, but then I decided to check out Overlord, I vaguely remembered people saying it's a good show, but up until that point, all I had personally seen of Overlord were the pictures of Albedo that everyone keep posting, so I honestly thought Overlord was going to be about Albedo and as a result, I assume it was most likely going to be some comedy harem fanservice anime, and while I have zero issues with anime like that, I didn't personally feel like I needed to watch yet another one, so ultimately the only reason I checked out Overlord was because I was bored laying in my bed and wanted to give a new anime a shot. And Overlord has kept me hooked since episode 1, the world building is so good, and since watching the show, I even grabbed the light novels and have been reading the light novels after the episodes to get a more full picture. And I am someone with somewhat severe reading problems, so I stopped reading books almost 15 years ago due to said issues, Overlord was good enough to me that I actually challenged myself to read despite my issues, and I don't regret it one bit. It has actually rekindled my old love for reading, so when I finish reading Overlord, I am most likely going to pick up another book series to read, maybe Spice and Wolf?
For me Raven Just got a HUGE death flag over his head in this episode for a lot of reasons. He is a good person, whe know that he has a wife and a children that he loves and he is going to comand the army in this war. Yup, he is going to die :^P
I would say "obsessed" is a better word for what Princess Renner is feeling about her bodyguard. As for AIn's Oool Gown's claim to the land, a case could be made that "the Great Tomb of Nazarick" predates the founding of the Re-Estize Kingdom and that it has been in deep sleep throughout a certain amount of time and has finally "reawakened" and looking to reform its control over its "ancient lands" I feel bad for Gazef Stronoff, as he seems to be a Hero stuck between a "rock and a hard place" stuck between the Kingdom and the machinations of Ain's Oool Gown. As for Carny Village, they fall under the auspices of "the Great Tomb of Nazarick" as the Re-Estize Kingdom failed to protect and save them from the Slayne Theocracies atrocities.
When I saw the extra screen time Raven court got, I was like, is he going to die? Then he was appointed as general of the army... OK, yeap, when minor character get extra screen time they will die XD.
In the previous episode, Demiurge wasn't talking about the princess on the last episode. This is a fan theory, but Demiurge was talking about the NPC character in Nazzarick called Aureolo Omega, leader of "Pleiades Seven Sisters". She is one of few human based NPC in Nazzrick but more of immortal human characters. Some of the clue to this is when Demiurge talked about the interestig human he met Albedo gotten intrested herself. Most residance of Nazzrick despise humans, including Albedo, so why would she be interested in meeting the princess. Ainz has mentioned her in previous season but we still haven't got the visual confirmation.
Yeah it was a shame not seeing the deathwarriors mounted on souleaters and such as well, but I think they did pretty well for what they had to do. I can't wait to hear the sound of cheerful goat children trotting around.

Not exactly limitless, but definitely a significant amount given the 2-month prep time.

Basically he uses a high tier spell, a third of the kingdoms army dies from that alone. He then uses everyone who died to the spell to create some goatlike monsters that are like level 90 and they absolutely massacre everyone. The "splat" is the goats trampling over people and killing them
As an Anime Only person I'm looking forward to the next episode. I think that Ainz's "Start the battle magic" could be to wipe out a good portion of the Kingdom forces by himself, as wiping out the whole army (which he could probably do) would be overkill and then who would take word back to the Kingdom that they lost :)
I really did enjoy the politics of this episode. Dont get me wrong the ains scenes are by far my favorite but the politics was done really well in this one. My only complaint is that the episodes are too short haha

It’s such a tiny, tiny, minuscule moment in the episode that doesn’t have any sort of significance to what’s going on overall with the story, But I just personally love that brief scene of all those Imperial soldiers bowing down to Ainz in perfect sync with the music playing in the background. Every time I see it, I just get some serious chills, more so than the Death knights emerging from the portal. Absolutely amazing stuff for me personally and I’m stoked to see the next episode and actually start reading the light novels! 😁

This is the funny part. We know deathknights are strong.. he has an army of them.... but if ainz really went full force with them then he would give them magic weapons. We saw how OP those weapons are back in "his" country.
That would be a "waste" for ainz, and also he wouldn't do that because DKs are quite considered useless. If he would give weapons to anyone, they would be equivalent at least to an Pleiades maid or lvl 46-100(Aureole Omega). The only reason why DKs are considered powerful and "legendary" because of the New world's "weak" residences. DKs are level 35( it is said in the LN that in order to defeat one, you should have at least levels equivalent to CZ or lvl 45-46). I would like to see the maids fight excluding Aureole because she is OP for being a level 100 maid.
And also in the LN, the author introduced characters that have high levels. Including DDDL(which has a world item), Zesshi, Platinum DL, Elf King and potential God-kins. So DKs would probably be as useless as it is later on the LN. And the only character that will probably threat Nazarick for some level is DDDL

for those who dislike Ainz being evil, just remember, Momonga is playing a game here. When you play a game like C&C, Star Craft etc, your objective is to kill your enemy and conquer their land. That is the objective of the game he is playing. of course, his primary objective was to spread the name Ainz Ooal Gown so that people who played Yggdrasil will know there is/are other player(s) also trapped in this new game, but Demiurge had misunderstood Ainz and thought Ainz wanted to conquer the new world and just go along with Demiurge's plan. So in short, Ainz is not evil, he is just playing a game.
Ainz isnt playing a game here... He, along with Nazarick, has been transported to real world, with real people altogether and Ainz understands that but he doesn't care about that.. He will kill anyone that opposes or offends him or if killing them causes him slightest of benefits... He never thought of the people as game characters or NPCs

@@gurugurukuma well this show to me seems very gen 1 and 2 dungeons and dragons based so by that logic demiurge is lawful because everything he does has a diffenitive and logical motive for instance they need parchment for spell scrolls demiurge uses human skin for it flexible and abundant use his motive is to fill that need to serve Aniz and the great tomb in short he is logical and capable of rational thought he's also loyal to Lord Aniz who to him is a god who's word is law and commands are unbreakable.
I'm more inclined to think that Demiurg will eventually be an antagonist and a traitor. He is far too ambitious, cunning and confidenr to always remain Servile.

The thing about Overlord is that it isn't an anime about fantasy fights or whatever like the "standard" Isekai.
I always though about it like a "Cold War" fantasy anime, with Ainz and his minions going around like -Hey we want this and if you don't do it quick, we'll nuke you to pieces.
Maybe it isn't the best illustration, but everything in Overlord up until now feels like politics, not just this arc.
Edit: Would love to see Ainz taking off his mask after the battle like "Hey, I'm just an undead, come all together with your little pieces of s... Priests..." (To this Golden Arthur wannabe and every single one of the kingdoms allied with him xD)

it was not mentioned in the anime but Gazeff went back to investigate the aftermath of Ainz' battle and he found nothing. This gave him a conclusion that Ainz simply dealt the entire Theocracy Scripture with an overwelming power, so overlwelming that it leaves no traces behind.

The thing about Overlord, to me any way, is that while yes, I certainly "love" Ainz as a character, the big draw for me is how good the world building is. I can't even remember the last time I watched an anime that actually built a proper world for us to immerse ourselves in. Not just "Here's a town, stuff happens in it", but an actual world with proper locations, proper distances between the locations, proper events happening even when the main character isn't around so on and so forth.
I only started watching Overlord a few weeks ago and only because I recieved an injury that locked me to my bed for a few weeks, I was originally just going to rewatch one of my favorite animes (Slayers) and maybe rewatch some of the older Gundam seasons, but then I decided to check out Overlord, I vaguely remembered people saying it's a good show, but up until that point, all I had personally seen of Overlord were the pictures of Albedo that everyone keep posting, so I honestly thought Overlord was going to be about Albedo and as a result, I assume it was most likely going to be some comedy harem fanservice anime, and while I have zero issues with anime like that, I didn't personally feel like I needed to watch yet another one, so ultimately the only reason I checked out Overlord was because I was bored laying in my bed and wanted to give a new anime a shot.
And Overlord has kept me hooked since episode 1, the world building is so good, and since watching the show, I even grabbed the light novels and have been reading the light novels after the episodes to get a more full picture.
And I am someone with somewhat severe reading problems, so I stopped reading books almost 15 years ago due to said issues, Overlord was good enough to me that I actually challenged myself to read despite my issues, and I don't regret it one bit.
It has actually rekindled my old love for reading, so when I finish reading Overlord, I am most likely going to pick up another book series to read, maybe Spice and Wolf?

I would say "obsessed" is a better word for what Princess Renner is feeling about her bodyguard. As for AIn's Oool Gown's claim to the land, a case could be made that "the Great Tomb of Nazarick" predates the founding of the Re-Estize Kingdom and that it has been in deep sleep throughout a certain amount of time and has finally "reawakened" and looking to reform its control over its "ancient lands" I feel bad for Gazef Stronoff, as he seems to be a Hero stuck between a "rock and a hard place" stuck between the Kingdom and the machinations of Ain's Oool Gown. As for Carny Village, they fall under the auspices of "the Great Tomb of Nazarick" as the Re-Estize Kingdom failed to protect and save them from the Slayne Theocracies atrocities.

In the previous episode, Demiurge wasn't talking about the princess on the last episode. This is a fan theory, but Demiurge was talking about the NPC character in Nazzarick called Aureolo Omega, leader of "Pleiades Seven Sisters". She is one of few human based NPC in Nazzrick but more of immortal human characters. Some of the clue to this is when Demiurge talked about the interestig human he met Albedo gotten intrested herself. Most residance of Nazzrick despise humans, including Albedo, so why would she be interested in meeting the princess. Ainz has mentioned her in previous season but we still haven't got the visual confirmation.

Create Middle Tier Undead (12/day)
Create Low Tier Undead (20/day)
The Death Knight is considered a Mid-tier Undead monster, so he can make 12 of those a day. Not exactly limitless, but definitely a significant amount given the 2-month prep time.

Basically he uses a high tier spell, a third of the kingdoms army dies from that alone. He then uses everyone who died to the spell to create some goatlike monsters that are like level 90 and they absolutely massacre everyone. The "splat" is the goats trampling over people and killing them

I think that Ainz's "Start the battle magic" could be to wipe out a good portion of the Kingdom forces by himself, as wiping out the whole army (which he could probably do) would be overkill and then who would take word back to the Kingdom that they lost :)

It’s such a tiny, tiny, minuscule moment in the episode that doesn’t have any sort of significance to what’s going on overall with the story,
But I just personally love that brief scene of all those Imperial soldiers bowing down to Ainz in perfect sync with the music playing in the background.
Every time I see it, I just get some serious chills, more so than the Death knights emerging from the portal.
Absolutely amazing stuff for me personally and I’m stoked to see the next episode and actually start reading the light novels! 😁

This is the funny part. We know deathknights are strong.. he has an army of them.... but if ainz really went full force with them then he would give them magic weapons. We saw how OP those weapons are back in "his" country.
That would be a "waste" for ainz, and also he wouldn't do that because DKs
are quite considered useless. If he would give weapons to anyone, they would be equivalent at least to an Pleiades maid or lvl 46-100(Aureole Omega). The only reason why DKs are considered powerful and "legendary" because of the New world's "weak" residences. DKs are level 35( it is said in the LN that in order to defeat one, you should have at least levels equivalent to CZ or lvl 45-46). I would like to see the maids fight excluding Aureole because she is OP for being a level 100 maid.
And also in the LN, the author introduced characters that have high levels. Including DDDL(which has a world item), Zesshi, Platinum DL, Elf King and potential God-kins. So DKs would probably be as useless as it is later on the LN. And the only character that will probably threat Nazarick for some level is DDDL
The only one that has access to the treasury is the guardian himself, Pandora's Actor. Ainz allowed him.

for those who dislike Ainz being evil, just remember, Momonga is playing a game here. When you play a game like C&C, Star Craft etc, your objective is to kill your enemy and conquer their land. That is the objective of the game he is playing. of course, his primary objective was to spread the name Ainz Ooal Gown so that people who played Yggdrasil will know there is/are other player(s) also trapped in this new game, but Demiurge had misunderstood Ainz and thought Ainz wanted to conquer the new world and just go along with Demiurge's plan. So in short, Ainz is not evil, he is just playing a game.
Ainz isnt playing a game here... He, along with Nazarick, has been transported to real world, with real people altogether and Ainz understands that but he doesn't care about that.. He will kill anyone that opposes or offends him or if killing them causes him slightest of benefits... He never thought of the people as game characters or NPCs
it's not a real world where he was from, he was transferred to another game world after Yggdrasil server shutdown. in the real world Momonga is from 22nd century where he was a salary man. his real body is still in a semi-conscious state where the VR is plugged to his brain. He is indeed still playing a game here.

well, i don't have source but don't forget he was playing Yggdrasil and waiting for the server to shutdown. of course he is in semi conscious state because he WAS plugged to the VR system where his mind is in the game but his body isn't moving. It's like SAO where people from real world could not wake the person playing the VR but the player can choose to log out as he please. But in Momonga's situation he couldn't log out. Don't forget, he IS still attached to the VR system. Therefore he is not transferred to a real world but rather another game world.

Looking at the info though, its an pretty much an undead horse, and in the YGRDASSIL game they were like lv 30 monsters, which is pretty much suspected to be Clementine’s (crazy chick from Season 1)equivalent in the new world. So imagine having a horse that could fight on Her level, carrying Ainz’s soldiers...or Gazef’s level. Ainz’s horses are on par with Gazef, thats the level of power disparity we’re talking.
