      AI for the most part is hard coded for diversity and inclusion and will simply make up lies, repeat talking point and or ignore your argument if you cut against those ideas. It’s easily proven fallible when you consider diversity is inherently counter to inclusion. For your country to be diverse of culture, each culture would need to reject the other in order not to assimilate into a single culture. Diversity is only upheld by non-inclusion, inclusion will lead to total assimilation.

    Details that have been left out: 3 of the 4 barbary states said that. They said that because they wanted the USA to pay them protection money as other states did to be left alone. They were all part of the Ottoman empire, at the time at its peak and a key geopolitical player. Morocco, the fourth and only fully independent Barbary State instead recognized the USA as a sovereign nation and signed the Marrakesh treaty of Peace and Friendship which is to this day honoured and is the oldest unbroken diplomatic relationship in US history.
    Half a truth is often a great lie.

      He wasn't talking about the barbary states individually just the encounter with one embassador in London, so you can't call that a half truth. You could say he's cherry-picking but with the way you frame things, you're just as guilty of bias. The fact remains the same, it was an unprovoked attack that was justified by a violent and divisive book, no different than any other major western religion of course, but still a good example of how Islamic extremism towards the US isn't one sided.

      @@zumis1011I will say that he is cherry-picking. The Benjamin Franklin quote "half the truth is oft a great lie" is about cherry-picking. I think trying to disregard a history of friendship and cooperation between the US and Morocco and trying to create this narrative of the ISLAMIC WORLD (which in my opinion is not a thing, the islamic world is just as diverse and divided as the "christian world") is both deceitful and foolish. Just as a mormon or a Jehovah's Witness from the US has little to nothing in common with someone from the Ethiopian Orthodox Christian church or the Transylvanian Unitarian community, an Indonesian Sunni will have very different views on the world than a Turkish modernist from Istanbul or a Shia muslim from Iran

      Relevance? Are you suggesting hypocrisy (supposing there were) undermines either Hitchens or Jefferson's point? What was Jefferson supposed to do? Not object to the enslavement of his countrymen because he himself owned slaves? Slavery was worldwide. His objection wasn't over whether slavery existed (it was a legacy institution the West inherited from the Islamic world, after all) but over the fact that his countrymen were being enslaved.

    • @mitchellglaser
      @mitchellglaser 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@andrewaustin6948 the relevance is obviously that he didn’t consider his own children to be his countrymen! Is that hypocritical enough for you? It's a little thick having a Brit like Hitchens talk like this about the Barbary pirates, when at the EXACT SAME TIME the British Navy was impressing thousands of American sailors, kidnapping them and forcing them to serve on British Navy vessels. At least the Barbary pirates only attacked you if you came near their territory, the Brits sailed up and down the coast of the newly independent US seizing "deserters" from US ships and even invading US ports.
