I love this track, I run here all the time, it has been repaved since this video, though I thought it was fine, I have a nicely modified 93 Camaro, I am amazed at how close our times are and the corner speeds, we would have been a hell of a battle on track, I'm only getting to 140 down the front stretch, I would have to nail my line up through the esses, every lap, get my maximum entry speed onto the straight, or you would be slipping by me there, I would need to gap you about 10 or fifteen car lengths to keep you back, if I were trying to pass you I don't know what the hell I'd do, but it sure would be fun.
That's a brutal track, but it's nice to know how amazing your bike is on it! Especially after you told just how close your times were already... That bikes taking it and then some to spare. Man, it sounds and runs as good as it looks! I hope this is a regular thing, I'm loving your new kit! Thanks Brian!
Grattan is a tough track, full of mental and physical challenges lap after lap. The new Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a ton of fun to ride. We will be putting up videos like this each time we ride. - Van
Track is for sale 3.5 million. Wish I had the $. The property is beautiful, it has a camping area, pond and a motocross track. Took my sport bike out there a couple times. So much fun .
Gota love the restriction on this bad boy. Soon as your over 11-11500 rpm😔. Still haven’t sent mine out to get fixed yet. Only wished for it for a mili second here an there. Bike awesome either way. Bike is sweet man. Love checking out your videos!!!
Awesome video brother. How's that suspension holding up? I'm looking at upgrading bikes, and most guys reviewing are "Musculary" challenged. How was the bike in those fast corners and transitions? Thanks for the upload and looking forward to more build videos
The bike is still pretty much stock at this point. I have a pipe, rearsets and brake lines on the bike thus far using race tires. I have made some minor adjustments to the suspension (pre load and clickers only) that have improved the handling a little. The suspension feels good enough that I feel like there are another 2 or 3 seconds I can drop with the bike in the same trim. At this point I am the problem, not the bike. One of the main reasons I invested in this AiM timer and camera rig was to use it as a tool to help improve my riding. Having the ability to see the line you were on with all the other data is really eye opening. This was my first weekend with this setup and I can see some areas where I swear I was doing something other than the video and data show. Also sent this to my man Chris Ulrich for a little long distance coaching. We will be headed back to Grattan at the end of this month with SportbikeTrackTime so I can work on correcting some of my bad habits. Love this bike and can't wait to get back on it! I have never ridden a bike this much in pretty much stock trim. - Brian Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Brian, can you answer on one question? GSXR1000R or Yamaha R1 (not R1M) ? What do you think? I'm riding on R1 RN22 and thinking on upgrade (mostly about electronic features). Best regards!
Very Nice Van, looks like you were having fun. I am saving to purchase both from you. Just out of curiosity, what TC setting were you riding on? I have the same bike and my brake lever has an incredible amount of travel compared to my 2017 R6, which also has a Nissan MC. Any plans to do a RCS19? Would be a great video for many.
You will love the AIM Solo 2 with the Handy Cam, awesome system. I am running the TC on 1 (lowest setting), this gives the best feel and feedback without restricting the bike too much. We plan to do a Brembo master at some point, perhaps next season. - Brian Van
720p is the max resolution for the camera. This is really more about the integration of the data and the video than just a HD video. IMO this is an amazing tool you can use to improve your riding and my riding needs some work. - Van
Yes this was done with the AIM Solo 2 Handy Cam. This is not really intended for street use as it integrates with the lap timer which needs to be used on a closed course to function properly. I suppose you could work around that if you really wanted to, just not sure it would be the best way to shoot video on the street. - Van
yeah neither do I especially with a price tag over 1800$ but it would make cool street videos. the system is very nice but the price tag is very high its a shame I would get one or sure for my racing. Thanks Van for the input.
Both of them are great bikes, I enjoyed riding each of them. Comparing the 2 of them the ergonomics of the GSXR 1000 suit me a little better so I prefer it a touch over the R1. The Suzuki is a little easier to work on, they have always been very easy to prep for race track riding if that is something you intend to do. While they are both plenty fast the performance of that crossplane engine in the R1 makes that bike come off the corner better than anything else I have ridden. The best advice I can give you is to go sit on both of them and try to get a sense for which one feels more familiar right out of the gate and go with that one. - Brian Van
I have a Kawasaki Zx10r 2012 and my brother has the R1 2017 both prep for race track . i am used to the Kawasaki engine and because of that i have to say i dont like the crossplane anymore. The R1 pushes so hard from the bottom that it doestn let you achieve the right position on the seat when you exit the corner. Otherwise the Kawasaki pushes gently and when you are speeding up and ready for it you recieve the whole power. I dont know too much about the suzuki but i like it . Thanks for your Help. Really love the channel.
Reading this comment I would say go with the GSXR if you did not like the feel of the cross plane in the R1. The characteristics of the GSXR and ZX10R engines are very similar. I have ridden the ZX10R in stock trim a couple of times and preferred the new GSXR 1000. Appreciate the kind words and thank you for watching! - Van

Funnest track there is!!! Got me rookie of the year on stock R6!
Maybe the most challenging track in the Midwest?

It has been for sale for some time now. The last number I heard was 7 million. - Van
Def not for sale for 3.5 million lol it’s family owned and amway wanted for 9 but they wouldn’t sell it for that price.
More footage on and off the track please! 😁 With several camera angle thanks Brian 💪🏼

Track looks ruff!
Alex Luna super rough - Max Van
That track looks like it needs a make over
It rides a whole lot better than it looks for sure. This is one of the toughest layouts in the country IMO. - Van

Data overlay on the video is awesome! is 720 highest resolution the camera is capable of?

What app and camera is used for the display and footage
This is the AiM camera that works with their lap timer. Since we shot this video I believe the have updated the camera twice. - Van
this is video of the aim solo 2 ? can you set this up on a street bike also just to get footage?
Yes this was done with the AIM Solo 2 Handy Cam. This is not really intended for street use as it integrates with the lap timer which needs to be used on a closed course to function properly. G force meter didn't know If it was coming or going
Do you only ride on the track? You ever ride on the street? Like to go work or something.
Most of my riding is done on the track at this point. That said I do a little street riding from time to time on the STG Ninja 400. - Van
lol, in the intro the sticker is still on the tire as he leaves , no?
ya ittl burn off
The stickers burn right off, no worries at all. - Van
