The problem with Rudy Gobert is that while he's an excellent rim protector, he's a below average perimeter and 1v1 defender. So what the Nuggets are doing is making him have to guard Jokic either baseline or at the 3pt line. That way Jokic can have a field day with him, and if help comes, he can find Aaron cutting under the basket with no Gobert to rim protect or he can dish it out for an outside shot. The Wolves need to make sure Gobert doesn't guard Jokic if they wanna stand a chance

The problem with Rudy Gobert is that while he's an excellent rim protector, he's a below average perimeter and 1v1 defender. So what the Nuggets are doing is making him have to guard Jokic either baseline or at the 3pt line. That way Jokic can have a field day with him, and if help comes, he can find Aaron cutting under the basket with no Gobert to rim protect or he can dish it out for an outside shot. The Wolves need to make sure Gobert doesn't guard Jokic if they wanna stand a chance

Nobody is looking for the next LeBron because nobody wants the current LeBron. People are tired of LeBron. He happens to appear in a Cavaliers game and ESPN will have segments talking about it. He’s never winning another ring. Guys in their 20s to early 30s wins rings. Not guys in their mid 30s to early 40s.
I don’t care if KG’s suggestion comes true and LeBron teams up with KD and Steph. None of those three are winning a ring together. It’s Billy King trading draft picks for KG, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry all over again. It’s the 2004, 2013, and 2022 Lakers all over again banking on older guys. Steve Nash was old by the time he went to the Lakers. It’s my current Clippers banking on old, broken, and slow guys.
We want the next Jordan because it makes us feel good. MJ and Kobe are arguably the two most popular players of all-time. I live in SoCal, so this is expected, but I still see tons of people wear Kobe jerseys. I’ve seen more of them than folks wearing an MJ jersey. I saw someone wearing a Kobe jersey in the Denver game. Then add all the younger players who Kobe influenced because MJ influenced and mentored him.
Jordan had a hand in Kobe’s success and popularity. We want the next MJ/Kobe. It’s almost like Jordan is the OG Star Wars Trilogy and Kobe is the Prequels. The Prequels are hated by my generation and older but kids born in the 90s and after adore them. Same with Kobe. Revisionist history plays a part. Kobe was not always the most popular in his prime.
I don’t believe there will ever be another Michael Jordan but it’s fun trying to find the next Jordan. Kobe was that next Jordan and while I don’t believe he surpassed his (Jedi) Master, people still have many fond memories from MJ 2K Remix. Even if Ant never surpasses any of these guys, it’s fun comparing him to MJ. It gets people nostalgic and makes us feel excited when finding that next Jordan.
