    Couple things.
    1) vw is one of the worlds most unassuming car companies. Some say Tesla is a tech company that makes cars but VW is the car company that makes cars. For the people. Granted they lag behind Tesla in technology for obvious reasons but it’s still amazing.
    2) on that note, the trunk space in this ID7 illustrates the previous point. My GTI was like an optical illusion when it came to interior space. It was amazing how much space was in such a small car and they continue that trend.
    Can’t wait for our ID4 to arrive.

  • @Ariel51_artist

    Honestly if this car ends up at a good price, it’ll sell well. It looks like a regular car and has a similar Tesla-esque interior but obviously nowhere near as Cheap. Looks great, VW did a good job

    • @bmw803
      @bmw803 Год назад +1

      The build quality is definitely superior on VW, but if a base ID.4 is over 40K, this will start in the mid 50's. Americans are struggling to pay rent and buy food. HUGE layoffs of good paying jobs. The only way this will be affordable is if we end up with another 1929 soon.

    According to Battery Life, preconditioning is possible in this car (both automatic, if you are navigating to a DCFC, and manual) , but the controls only appear in the menu if the charge rate is limited by the pack temperature. Definitely something else to test, but you probably need to test it in a colder environment.

      There are only so many inches of length in a car. Frunk space is highly inefficient use of those inches, at a cost of interior space. Anything more than a very small compartment to hold a portable evse, Tesla adapter, etc, is a sign of poor design in a passenger vehicle.
      Trucks on the other hand,I see the frunk as a huge benefit, as they don't have anywhere else to lock up stuff water tight etc like that.

      ID.4 in U.S. with 77 kwh starts at 44K. This might start north of 55K. That's why I see a lot more BOLT on roads than ID.4. My local GM dealer gets between 2 and 4 each week delivered, while VW sees 1 ID.4 per month ( if lucky). At the end, it's what a person can afford.

    Can you comment more on the bidirectional charging setting you saw? It seems limited by MWh.

    In the Battery Life video, they said it not only have battery preconditioning when you are using onboard navgen - but also have manual switch for this. Hopefully this is not a EU-only feature.

    With Low profile EV, great range and a hatchback, this ID7 will be in my next EV short list. Now please just add AWD or I’ll even take FWD for snow traction in winter.
