Should you buy iPhones with FaceTime? Or can you enable FaceTime on your FaceTime-less UAE iPhone?

- Apple UAE doesn't provide iPhones with FaceTime because of the restrictions imposed on them by the TRA (Telecom Regulatory Authority). Therefore all iPhone authorized resellers can only sell the non-FaceTime UAE (or Dubai) iPhones. That has resulted in a flourishing business by third-party sellers, who import FaceTime-enabled iPhones from other countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, Japan, China, and so on.
It's actually possible to get authentic phones from these sellers even though sometimes there may be unwelcomed consequences. So the safest way to get an iPhone is to buy it directly from the Authorized resellers. However, you must accept the fact that you may never get FaceTime on that phone. That was only valid until Apple released the iOS version 3.6 update.
Apple may have realized that it wasn't fair to completely block FaceTime in its UAE phones because most ex-pats were buying them to take back to their home countries. As of iOS 3.6, you can now enable Facetime on your Facetime-less Dubai iPhone with a little bit of tweaking as described in the video.

4:42 when you placed the call, it said facetime failed. i tried to call and got the same message though it works if both receiver and caller are on same wifi. would be glad to get a resolution to this.

Facetime is not what determines if an iPhone is original or not. What makes an iPhone original is that it should be made by Apple. To get the prices of iPhones simply go to an authorized reseller and ask them the price. Don't feel like going out? Fine, search it on Amazon. Yes. As long as you have iOS 13.6 and above. And you change your location. Don't select UAE.

Why do u absolutely need a USA version in the UAE? It's pointless and also it wouldn't have a few of the 5G bandwidths (iPhone 12) that are used in the UAE. The USA version is most suitable for use in the USA.

Well you'll have to ask the sellers if they have it. But there's nothing special about it. It also assembled in china like most of the other versions, and it has the same specs build quality etc.
