Moody Winter Woodland Photography

- I first discovered this woodland in the spring of 2016 and I believe this is the first time I've experienced lovely misty conditions. I've enjoyed many days in this wood but it was great to see some dense mist for a change. The patchy snow was quite challenging and I do think it's caused a bit of a distraction on some of the photos. I'd say that there is 1 keeper from the set, so I'd class that as a success.
Today is Meg's BIRTHDAY! The past 6 years with her have flown by but what a joy she has been - I wouldn't be here making RUclips videos if it wasn't for her. A life changing dog :-)
As I said in the video, thank you very much for all your support throughout 2019, it means the world. Here's to happy and healthy 2020!!

Nice, reminiscent of Neil Burnells Wistman photo's on Flickr - those epiphytic polypody ferns add a primordial feel to any woodland.

Enjoy your video's so much. We live in the middle of the forested area of Pennsylvania. Want to develop the eye to be able to identify composition when I see it. Am sure I am walking/driving by a lot of excellent pics. One of the big reasons for watching your video's. You are very very good at seeing and capturing the art in nature. You do beautiful work. Amazing location in fog and photos.
I came initially for the thoughtful discussion of composition, lighting and texture. But I'm always, secretly hoping to catch a nice long glimpse of Meg frolicking about through woodlands and streams. It is at those times that I most feel her innocent joy for life. Thank you, Simon. One quick question... what is and where did you find the cover for your tripod head (cube)?
Many thanks, Roger. Most people are secretly here for Meg :P The head cover was left in my car by a client in Scotland and he said I could keep it. No idea where it originally came from.
Beautiful. Just the same conditions I had in my last RUclips Video... although completely devoid of snow. But such fog is just perfect for woodland
