My father just gave me a boat he has had sitting for a long time and I’m gonna be using your videos as inspiration to take it from a 1980s lowe bass catcher to a 2024 Lowe Monster hunter. Love all of your videos dude. Keep up the good work.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats absolutely. I really love how you explain things so thoroughly...what you are doing and WHY you are doing it. Makes it so much easier for a guy getting his feet wet in building out a boat.
Dude! I’m up here in Blue Ridge and stealing all of your ideas on these builds. They say, copying is the greatest form of compliment! I hope to see ya on the water. Cheers brother
I have a 94 bass tracker tournament 17 that I'm looking to put aluminum floors in instead of the plywood. I'm having trouble finding sheets of aluminum though.
Great work, I'm currently redoing my 1436 with some of your tips. Please please, lookup and invest in some drill stops. Their cheap and will save you from punching through the bottom when drilling your stringers.
How much total weight do you trade in for when adding a built jon boat like this I’ve just heard it time after time that you have to give up total number of people if your building/adding material to custom Jon boat
May I asked what the black top rail cover is called, and where can I purchase it at? I have a old 1990 Lowe big Jon that was a rental at a marina. You can imagine how bad the top rail is dented and beat up. I’m so glad I came across this video because it’s exactly what I have to do to my boat. Great informative video. Thank you for your help.
I'm not exactly sure what your are asking. That boat is factory, just painted. The rail I tie my framing into is just angled aluminum as is everything else.
I can’t figure out how I’m gonna put a subfloor frame. It’s a 12ft chill crestliner I don’t know where I’ll be able to mount it without going through the hull
i believe it is close to 1/8 thickness and about 3 inches wide. Sorry im on vacation or I'd measure a piece. It's been a while since i did this and only used hat for that one project.
I’m sure you’ll explain it in a later video, but are you planning on doing a carpet or flooring of some kind on top of the aluminum? And how are you going to attach it?
It's designed to run both. Battery compartment in front deck for the 48v to power the Navy and keep weight distribution proper. Or remove Battery and run Spirit. Also the option of running the Spirit with the Navy battery as an external back up battery.
Great work on the framing and floor! Will that styrofoam board hold water when wet on the floor vs a closed cell foam like the pink foamular board? I've been looking to do my floors in my old 1648 Landau, but have been looking into the different foam used when I found this video.
The pink stuff is great, I've actually been using the green foam from Lowes which is supposed to be even better than the pink. Problem is a can only get it in.one inch which is too thick for this boat. The white rtec is coated but when cut it does expose the ends. I used it in last build, it got swamped, no issues. My thought is if water gets in it won't stay long, and foam should not make contact with it for long. If so 99% of the surface of foamis protected, minus the ends. For me, I'm not worried, minimal risk to get height I need. If your boat is constantly sitting outside or left with water in it often, maybe go a different route. Then again, if that's the case I wouldn't invest much in a build because it will get trashed anyhow in the weather.
Not that I know of but if I planned on constantly having water inside the boat, I would have built slightly different. If it cannot breathe and dry, channels are blocked, or water in it constantly, expect negative consequences.
So I've watched people do this before (level down) when working on a boat. For that to work right you boat has to be perfectly level to start with. The best thing to do is just measure off your existing seats while checking to see if the seats are square with the transom. Everything should work off the transom.
The boat is level. I'm building it on a custom boat stand that is level. On a 10 inch piece it would honestly be pretty hard to get to far out of level without noticing it by eye. I'm not sure what your referring to in the video as it has been a while. I rely more on leveling down to make a mark as a plane. Then using a square to ensure it's a 90 degree upright. The top horizontal for back and front deck were measured off the bow and transom, planning down square should give you accurate return. This boat was made in the 70s, nothing is square or even, hard to go off of much in it thats existing.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats using the square would be how I would do it ...off of the floor ribs. I guess I have watched other people use a level on the front of the boat not realizing that the bow of the boat actually starts to curve upwards. I guess I shouldn't get so picky as most boat mods actually turn out pretty nice looking even if they aren't exactly perfectly built. Thanks for responding.
This is a DIY project. If you have the abilities to weld, do it. I've never had an issue with rivets because I do them properly. Welding is welding..rivets are rivets. Most guys n this platform watching my vids aren't trying to be welders or buy allthat equipment. I do have a welder now but did not at the time of this video. I will complete this boat using rivets though because my audience want to see how they could replicate what I do from a diy standpoint.

Suuuper clean. I hope mine turns out half as nice.
Appreciate you. If you believe it, you can achieve it!
Well thought out, nice work.
Thanks so much!
Excellent instructions and video. Gave me confidence to start my own floor build.
If you put an aluminum floor in a job boat do you need to install drains. If not does the water pool up on the floor?
Looks great Anthony. I love seeing the progress on this build 💯

What does a sheet of aluminum like that run for the floor
Bro, you are SERIOUSLY TALENTED!!! Please 🙏 buy yourself a good saw!
Upgrade one day!
Is there a video where you install the side supports? Was it angle aluminum drilled and riveted thru hull?
Hi thank you for the educational video mass what did you purchase the bottom base hat channela
Question, I'm about to lay the floor down in the boat. How do I secure the seats and other things to the floor?
Another super easy tutorial to follow keep the content coming it’s really helpful 🙌🏻🇬🇧💥
Good problem solving with the shims on the ribs!!
Awesome Dr jones
Where you get the side rails? Thanks
Did you bend hat stickers or or oder them?
I have a 94 bass tracker tournament 17 that I'm looking to put aluminum floors in instead of the plywood. I'm having trouble finding sheets of aluminum though.
I get them from a dealer
Is there a next part where you do the sides?
No. The Project has been on stand still since this video due to customer boat builds
What size countersink but is that? Thanks!
Where can I get those floor joist you used.

have you guys ever done a 14 " marlon flatbottom
@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats Thanks for sharing. I'm getting ready to do this and plan to buy those rivets off of TBN. What countersink bit did you use?
milwaukee 3/16th impact. Found at home depot
oh, the countersink is from harbor freight, they sell 3 packs of various sizes.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats Great. Thank you!
I'm missing the support beams how do I fix that
The only way to go for sure last forever never needs replace buy it once cry once

Sea Dek. It comes with 3M adhesive backing.
Anthony, I either missed it or my reading stinks lol. But what thickness or gauge is the sheet aluminum you are using?
I believe for the floor i used .060, it was thinner than what i usually use which is .090
Anthony great job how much does something happen to cost like the job you did with the aluminum option.
What size hat channel did you use?
It's looking good. If your H braces would have been longer do you think you might have tied the ends into the bench seat braces?
Hows the ride difference before and after? Does it feel much smoother under your feet at WOT?
Haven't tested as I have yet to finish this project unfortunately
What do you call that aluminum channel you used on the floor of the boat? I was trying to search for it on TBN but couldn’t find it.
U have any videos on that paintjob?
ruclips.net/video/IvB_8bAWbog/видео.html
Awesome video… thank you very much this will help a lot in my build. What’s the thickness of the hat channel you used to build your floor??
I believe it I pressed at 1/8th
What gauge. Alum. Do u use on floor ?
I used .060 but most people use .090
What is that edge around the lip and what exactly is it for?
It's put there to tie all your framing to for the decking. Otherwise there is no way to secure your side to side framework
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats thank you. Do you have a video about how you put that in? I dig around but didn’t see anything.

Any issue with mold in between the foam after everything installed

Instead of rivets wouldn't it be better to weld it in for better strength and structure?
