    As an Army Vet you will never master everything. There always be something you need refresher/relearn so what I do look at old land nav videos and long distance shooting. Also I remember what you want/need out of training. I want to come to your school Stoker and bring some my old US Army Civil Affairs teaching.

      One of the least capable NCO's I had ever met used to say that and recommended the book. He was very creative with coming up with ways to avoid doing things. I let him know that whatever information was in that book didn't seem to help him and that I'd be fine sticking to the Ranger Handbook seeing as that was how we actually did things. So when I see people reference it, I'm under the impression that they've never been down to that last hundred yards and surely not beyond it.

    Had two enlistments in the Army. In between two durations of College getting a Bachelor's Degree. I can tell you with confidence that most people cannot teach squat. Many Professors are so condescending you wonder why they teach. Many soldiers, even elite Special Ops people, can't relay information to others to save their lives. One sure sign are people that repeatedly say, "you know what I mean." Nobody knows what you mean if you don't have the vocabulary to clearly describe information. Never ask for a "trainer" that conveys very limited concepts. Be skeptical of a "teacher", that goes a little beyond a trainer. Always look for an "educator" that goes beyond teaching a vertical new skill set. Educators demonstrate the width and breadth as well. Demonstrate solutions and inform you how to think critically about varied situations. Situations that are multifaceted and complex.

    I went thru the nco academy in Germany, in 1968, needed 4 tenths of a point to graduate but didn't want to as it meant I would be extended 90 days tdy which I didn't want, I enjoyed the training just failed the public speaking because of stage fright I guess, the nave course was my favorite, I should bone up on my map reading, but at 75 I don't see myself running thru the woods in an escape and evasion scenario, to old and too fat, but I can still lift a 195 lb. person off the floor no problem. Qualified with the M14, loved it, the M16's we were issued in Germany wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn if you were standing inside of it. The army you served in was much different than the one I served in, would love to fire the stinger missiles and the M60 machine gun as well as some of the other weapons they now have. Don't know or should I say I do know I would put up with their woke agenda, in fact there is no way I would enlist in today's army. I got away with things you would go to jail for now, both in the military and civilian life, what a communist state we live in now.

    • @stephenwest798
      @stephenwest798 3 месяца назад

      No, actually they offered me an option to make up the four tenths of a point to graduate and I declined, it was a different army back then and nobody wanted to be in Germany unless you lucked out to a good duty station, hell when I first got over there, there were two E7's who wouldn't reenlist and they both had 18 years in and people who would get in from Nam would go down to the orderly room as soon as they got their gear secured and file a 1049 request form to go back to Nam. You have a big ego and a small brain my friend and aren't qualified to judge me, hell my first Sargent sent me to nco academy because every time he sent me to HQ's to go before the board for promotion to buck Sargent I would go to the px and hang out until the truck went back to our unit, I didn't want to be extended 90 days tdy. Germany sucked and the Army in Germany sucked and in fact I have talked to people older than you who were in the service back then and not in Germany who heard about how bad it was. Go nurse your swollen ego and keep thinking of yourself as being someone special, it's only a figment of your imagination. @@mattmarzula

    The hardest part is the after training opportunities. I just completed an NV class at Clinton House, now I am scrambling to find places to shoot in the dark. I can only LARP in my backyard so much. Need to get out in the woods, work on the stuff I learned in my SERE lite class with Mountain Shepard back when Reggie was the instructor. I have no excuse why I can't creep around the woods and sleep in low vis shelters. The reality is, hard work is hard. After being a Dad, running my companies, and trying to stay fit, I am friggin tired. BUT, it has to happen, because being tired beats the hell out of being dead, or someones slave. Great video. I will try to get down to GA for a scouting class. Hope JJ gets our livestream rescheduled. Look forward to meeting you on the computer screen soon.

The classes that I attended the instructors were professional and were there in the dirt making sure we retained the lessons taught.

    I went to the school/retreat in Lebanon, MO. It was excellent and free. I gave a presentation. The basis of my presentation was that prepping is overwhelming. So how do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time.
    So what I do is go on Dave Canterbury and Blackie Thomas and when they say some item is fantastic, I stop and buy it right then. Then I go to train or dog videos till that item comes in. Rinse and repeat. This gets me the very best gear and keep me from stressing out. I told myself that nothing was going to come down in the next two years and to just take a breath and slowly keep buying the best of the best.

    • @mattmarzula
      @mattmarzula 3 месяца назад

      Sounds expensive.
      Dave Canterbury... If you ask him, all the gear he's peddling is the best and every method he's using is the best. Meanwhile, I can buy some of the same stuff wholesale and factory direct from China, have my own logo put on if I order 500 units at $3 a piece, and sell it for $30 just to undercut the competition who's selling it for $40. I don't subscribe to him or buy into his BS. I watched him rig up an improvised rucksack claiming it was the "best method in the world". He had a rope running around his neck. When I pointed out how dangerous it was, he lashed out and immediately berated and undermined me. Right then and there, he lost any credibility he had left after compromising it by lying on his resume.

    Hey - 'Big Stick' Riggs is back!
    Schools are great but 'paying customers' aren't really tested - don't regularly fail - just take what you can from the course and get your paper. Taking classes is always good as is learning new skills but really 'testing' those skills and yourself under stress is an entirely different experience. College education is a huge financial undertaking (for most) and until 'recently' testing was administered and a requirement to 'pass' the curriculum was enforced before a diploma was given (not everybody got a trophy regardless of what you paid). As much as I enjoy the 'SERE Challenge' a longer time in the field 'evading' and 'surviving' would be a more intense experience but I understand 'time constraints' and people's 'attention spans'. I also realize that most of the contestants have previously 'experienced' that environment in real life. My point is that just 'taking classes' and not 'applying' and testing those skills regularly seems futile. You only remember what you use and you only use what you know.

    It's a giant concept it has a lot of facets and a lot of ways to look at what it might be ? Especially as it relates to urban and rural. Or a combination of the two in some form ? There are people that are technically good with a skill set that will never see the opportunity ? And there are people that can spot an opportunity as if it was game ? With inadequate skill sets. Or maybe the lack of discipline to succeed through the whole process ? And all of those things with the right tools could be studied for decades

Education never ceases until you're dead, so always refresh for ideas that may help you that others have thought of to make things easier in the end. I suspect true wisdom (which can only be obtained by God) is the only way to survive whats coming to this obstinate and stubborn nation. They will try to draw you into honeypots and take you out. Dont get caught up in political bs, protect your family, do Gods will.

    Your restless dog will draw unwanted attention....
    Perhaps when you make this type of video, either use it as a learning experience for everyone, since you are trying to teach us something, or leave the dog out of the video completely, as it is a HUGE distraction to what you are trying to teach us....
    I noticed you stopped and edited the video NUMEROUS times, so perhaps you could do a video about faithful dog obedience training for when SHTF, as well....
    My dogs, God rest their souls when they were alive, listened VERY WELL to me, and did NOT move WHATSOEVER, until I told them that they could....
    And were ALWAYS on point when I gave them the command to "WATCH"....
    Teach people how to do that with their animals.....
    THAT WILL BE AN IMPORTANT FACTOR WHEN SHTF....

      Your a fool, animals don't have souls, and cannot be saved nor go to heaven, But then again I suspect you are not going to heaven either, because you understand nothing at all about the Bible.

      Learn how to focus your attention, don't be so distractible as to be worried about the dog. It's on you, not the dog..
