My notes on his chord design. Distilling the focal points and abstracting in spaces that should be shaped personally. Thank you for lending us your ear Julien! You certainly have an amazing skill! "A minor triad > sawtooth > low pass filtered low and modulated by LFO and plucky envelope > bandpass modulated by LFO > character compression > modulation/spatial FX > complex delay network > short reverb > glue compression > hi pass to remove rumble/mud."
Flynn Hanbury Tenison there are thousands of that .... Nothing especially - but i think he is a ,,easy to following"- teacher for me. ;-) but there a some ways to make dub chords in ableton . some technics with or with out resonators, ping pong, tape delay?, simpledelay ..... Send/return ! !
Quality tutorial as always great job. Just i wanted to add that you can have really great sound by using the LFO of max live wich offer great opportunity of midi automation. Like delay auto filtrer, wich imo is better than the lfo of the analog synth of ableton.
Its defin. Dub techno , i think it ISNT possible to sound like basic channel with ableton ! Its possible to get closest, but it never sounds like modular/analog ,,dub techno" ... Its much better with external FX and ableton as signalsource but with ableton 9 it isnt like the analog ,,noise" . would like to hear a full dubby track ;-) would be great . i will try ur tutorial too, sounds good to me (but i recognized the chords&reverb in ableton sounds, a bit boring/steril/linear - idk y)
"it never sounds like modular/analog ,,dub techno" - so you think you can identify which tracks are made with modular/analog and which tracks are made with software? You can't anymore the software is THAT good.
@@some.person I think the point is not that it's impossible to get analog sound with a software, but more that it's really hard. And only coming quite close to it (like most artsists will do) is simply not the same.. so analog can really be a good choice.
@@some.person Yup, I LOVE analog gear but it's true, Analog and digital should be respected equally and with skill you can make good music with either or better yet, both
Always enjoying your videos man... Question, how would you go about bouncing clips to audio so that you don't lose lots of sound manipulation flexibility?... My question is about preparing a liveset with, say, 20 songs... Because when you convert to audio you tend to lose for example, that richness of a LPF on the brass track... You know where Im coming from?... thx a lot man
Millennials start at 1981/2 unsure of the impression it makes considering the timeline kinda matches up? Basic Channel isn’t what I would consider underground in terms of how popular they are w regard to their impact on techno and dance music as a whole.
@@irishmossdubwise No, music should stay close to it's roots. The dub pioneers used hardware. It's not expensive. Electronic music is cheap to produce. Do you know what common musical instruments cost? Go price out a flute or a clarinet and then tell me you can't afford a simple used mixer and a bass synth.
@@irishmossdubwise So have I, September of '76 was my first piano lesson as a child. News flash, things cost money. There's a price of entry to everything in this world. Pity you haven't figured that out yet at your age.

Would love a video on the more dubby side of things too (like their Rhythm and Sound releases)!
Yeah everybody always talks about Basic Channel but Rhythm & Sound are great and original also
Bought all that vinyl when it dropped. Great chillout ambience
Awesome, as usual. These remind me of Massive Attack - Mezzanine sounds which are badass and I've always struggled to understand.
master overview right here

So good explaination of the key to the movement, lovely. You do great work, thanks for sharing it!
I'm not a. Ableton user, but a great technique in this tutorial, thank you.
Great tutorial!
Amazing work!! So clearly explained
Learnt a lot from this. Thank you for your excellent deconstruction!
Funny monologue you've got her dude! 😁
Thx man! Great tutorial. Will be putting some of your tips into practice for sure. Much appreciated!🙏
Thank you bro, I’m on logic so it’s harder to follow but i actually get to think lol !
Could you do an Andy stott tutorial please!
Julien I'm still here waiting :(
Awesome tutorial. Thank you very much!

you can sound however you want with ableton if you're skilled enough. Analog noise is super easy to replicate

This is really decent. Thank you
this is absolutely great
Can't find the project file in the downloads section.
Really well done man!
good lesson thanks man
Nice vid! inb4 "this doesn't sound like basic channel at all"
OK this sounds a little better than your previous "Basic Channel" video haha
Great tips. THX

TOP Man!!!!!
Wow this one is so chill, perfect after sunday chill track
julien where do you get the intro visual from
The fact that millennials even know Basic Channel,.. is more impressive than the tutorials ☺️

Basic Channel isn’t what I would consider underground in terms of how popular they are w regard to their impact on techno and dance music as a whole.
Does this not work with live 9?
Stacking up and balancing movement ... not too much and not too little
There is a new Dubtechno music vid up in my chan. It's really deeeeeep ;)
very good
No offence, but this sound has nothing to do with Basic Channel tracks
Thank you!!!
closer this time.
Nice tutorial! But not like basic channel
Owww Yeah !
More dub techno buddie! Check out new stuff from Nthng.
Thx
I wonder if Moritz and Mark followed a tutorial when producing their BC releases....?

Not even close
Too much drum bus.
Why do these tutorials all involve some stupid piece of software.... why don't you learn how to make dub techno with actual hardware instruments?
Stunad comment. Like most people are using expensive modular racks. Desperate flex to be elitist. Goof
