Sometimes it can take a while for her to spawn so be patient.
Make a save on forehand.
I choose night for less witnesses.
Reload after 5 shots or so to preserve honor.
Sometimes you only need one shot sometimes 50.... So reload the save.
Oh and beware of wolves.....

Okay just a tip for those having issues making the horse spawn alive. If you are going to carmade dell (spelt it wrong I know), try this. What none of these videos explain is in order for the horse to spawn alive it needs a 'disruptive' event between certain points. If you are in the middle of the day, sleep until night near emerald station. Tear down your tent and ride (hugging the wall till you cross the wolves territory), kill the wolves and skin them (this is your disruptive event (not an actual event avoid area events), once skinned keep hugging that wall all the way up to the point on the hill near carmade dell. She should have spawned. I killed her on the first.go and got a live Missouri Fox Trotter on the first respawn. Previously I'd done what these videos had explained only to find no matter what I did it didn't work. I then started thinking like a developer and remembered that the in game clock and routing works like a clock. With each tick of the hand around the clock face an action needs to take place to get to the next tick.
By the way, this isn't technically a glitch, it's actually just abusing Rockstars laziness when it comes to developing. Before anyone jumps on me about this, other than the main missions everything else is repeatable in each zone. The people just look different and have different back stories.

Little side note, an area contains a certain amount of events but they can spawn in any order.
The moose at Lake Isabella for instance, the legendary bison has to be killed before it spawns but after that you will get wolves or an male elk or the moose on the moose spawning location in random order.
Same as Carmody Dell, made multiple visits there and 5 out of 10 i got wolves first coming from the south.
Coming from the north, no wolves.
But the lady always spawned.
This is THE most valuable comment on any of the “early MFT” vids. Tried several methods for ages (and Face Rock had worked on a previous play through) but this got me the horse first go. Amazing.

As long as there has not been any interaction, you can repeat this in later chapters aswell.
It still works as of June 30 2024 been trying for hours and never saw her then tried this and bam 3 shots/ respawns and major payne is mine

it worked for me, one question though, after doing this can it be repeated to get another one so long as we didn’t interact with the lady while she was alive?

One last question, if you kill the lady is it guaranteed that the horse will come back to life?
Eventualy.
Sometimes direct, sometimes after 30 or more shots.
So save on forehand and reload after 5 shots orso.
I did this lady mission 2 times and she doesnt apears to me anymore.
