Love to you and David. You are constant reminders of the beauty and strength of love and compassion.
Thank you, Brian. You're making me cry...
Hannah, never worry about leaving long silences while you think about what you want to say. Your silences and few words are more meaningful than much of what we see on our 'professional' TV. I'm so pleased to see you again, and happy for you to save time doing fine editing.
Thank you so much, Heather. You may change your mind when you see how long those pauses can be!
@@HannahsBooks I've been on a 9 day silent retreat - I'm not scared!-)
@@heathergregg9975 Wow!
@@HannahsBooks It was great.
I realized I didn’t finish watching this video three weeks ago because I realized it needed more attention than I had then. You did such a great job expressing the heart of the matter in but the struggle and yet holding fast to the beauty and importance of each moment. I am taking time right now to pray for you and David and this day for y’all. May y’all continue to find the blessings amongst the challenges. ❤️
💜💜💜
Thank you for taking time to update us all. I am really impressed by the NIH health facility where David had his treatment. I am even more impressed and uplifted by your resilience and his. A spontaneous writer's retreat? Amazing.
The Barracoon excerpt was inspiring. I plan to read the book in September.
Sending prayers, love and light to you and your lovely husband. A library near your room is like discovering a bunch of friends in your new neighborhood.
That was beautiful (with tears running down my face). Sending love and support to you too as I empathize with your journey. I too spent many years with a husband with many health challenges. He died a little over 5 years ago and this weekend I’m taking my daughter to move into her dorm for her freshman year of college. Life does go on.
Well, Trish, now you've made me cry too. I am so sorry to hear about your own family story. If you're ever interested in chatting, please feel free to contact me by email or voxer (both listed in the description box). I'm sure you must have felt both sadness and great joy when you dropped off your daughter. I hope she loves her college experience!
Hannah - sending love. I earned my graduate degree in immunology working on GBM and with patients. It was inspired by my best friend whose mother was a patient. So though I cannot understand the path you are walking, I have seen people walk pieces of it and I’m wishing you both strength and love.
I was thinking of you and David just yesterday. I went over and lit a candle for you and mumbled a few words for the flame to send immediately to you both. Thank you for stopping and sharing with us and sending you , (and David of course) tons of love and support.
Gracias por tu generosidad, Hannah. It comes at a timely moment. Abrazos para tí y David.
Hannah, please take all the time you need when it comes to any kind of BookTube break. I'm so glad David's getting good care, and I'm thinking of you both 💞 sending you so much love
Love the artwork you shared - and I gifted my mom that Fauci picture book! [very impressed at your 2 NIH celebrity spottings!]
I, too, am very much hoping the receptionist is named Jo(e)!
Thank you so much for update. What an amazing facility! So happy you are able to access the NIH for your husband’s care. Loved the message you shared from Barracoon. I am keeping you both in my thoughts.
Hannah, I’ve been away from social media and am late to the sending of fervent good wishes and love to you and David. Thank you so much for sharing such life-affirming moments.
Sending healing thoughts to your husband and you. Thank you for your vulnerability with all of us. I could not make such a video … I don‘r have the grace you speak in every word. 💛
Kelly, your grace comes through in every video! And you and Jason are so inspiring. (In fact, I am pretty sure I wouldn't share anything personal here if Jason's deathbed tag hadn't pulled it out of me.) Thank you so much for being here. (BTW--your Austen Years video is near the top of my watch-later plans!)
Beautiful. Thank you.
Such an interesting health facility! All the best
Much love to David, you, and the kids … ❤️
The centre sounds like an incredible place. Sending my thoughts to you and your family. The quote was both beautiful and thought provoking. Thank you. Take care
Thinking of you and David during this time. Thank you for sharing, Hannah.
Thank you so much, Shelly. Although I am terribly behind on booktube these days and have ridiculous numbers of videos I want to watch in my watch-later file, your lovely energetic thumbnails never fail to make me happy!
The health centre sounds so caring and an excellent place to receive treatment. The patient library is wonderful - our "patient library" is one shelf of books either by celebrities or set during the Roman Empire, somewhat inexplicably. Sending much love and best wishes for the next round of treatment.
What a funny combo! I will definitely pass this story on to the volunteer librarians at NIH! Thank you!
I've been thinking of you and David since your last update. Thank you so much for sharing with us in this trying time.
Thinking of you, Hannah and David, it sounds like you were both given wonderful care. You did well to have your writing retreat together. Sending you all good wishes. 💛
Your togetherness and love is beautiful. May you heal.
Sending lots of love and strenght, thank you for sharing 💗
Thank you for catching us up, and in such a compelling and beautiful tour of the NIH facility. I keep your family in my thoughts often. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks, Sarah. It is definitely an amazing place. (Incidentally, I noticed that you have another European book haul up and can't wait to watch it when I have some time!)
Thinking of you both and praying for the best possible outcome.
Such a lovely, thoughtful video during a not so lovely journey. You are precious to us🙏
i'm so glad things are going as well as they are...i laughed out loud at the radiating crew's names.
Thank you for the update. Continuing to pray for you all.
Thank you so much, Michael.
Thanks for sharing. Wishing the best for you and yours.
So glad to see that you posted a video. Sending you both positive thoughts. And so glad that you and David found comfort in your writing project project.
Dear Hannah, thank you for this beautiful video. Much strength to you both, you are in our thoughts!
Happy to hear that the surgery went well. Wishing the best to you and your husband. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the beautiful update, and the exquisite reading at the end. Wishing all good things to you and your family, Hannah - however that might look in the days to come💫
Thank you, Gladys. You've really pointed to the challenge we're facing, of trying to appreciate what good comes our way even on hard days.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have a nephew who has been living with a glioblastoma diagnosis for a number of years, and my heart goes out to you and your family. I laughed at the "personalized mugs", but that facility sounds truly wonderful! Best wishes for continued positive outcomes!
Oh Deborah! Thank you so much for writing in. I am sorry to hear your nephew also has gbm but thrilled that he too has had several years. If you ever want to talk more, please feel free to email me or voxer me at the addresses below.
Thank you for sharing the art work about AIDS. Having lost many friends that was very touching. Thank you!
Oh Jorge! What a hard time it was...
Warmest wishes to you and David, Hannah. May the most loving of winds blow your way.
Thank you for your kind words, Green.
Thank you so much. Your thoughtfulness will be remembered.
Thank you for your kind comment!
Thoughts and prayers with you and David. I know too well life from the hospital and all it entails. It’s good to see you.
I love your videos, your cadence and delivery. My prayers go out to you and David and Abe, bon courage.
Thank you for your loving update. Sending you both strength and love, and also joy and humor for the sweet little blessings each day. 💕
Thank you. That is exactly what we need, I think: finding a way to appreciate all the little quotidian things.
Thank you for a thoughtful and moving video, Hannah. Sending much love to you, David, and Abe.
It is just astonishing to me to have all these lovely people leaving all these lovely comments. Thanks so much, Gail, for being here.
I’m glad you two are able to spend such valuable time together. Thinking of you and your family.
Thank you so much, Sonya. Because of covid, I assumed I wouldn't be able to stay, and I was almost in tears about it. Being there was such a gift.
Lovely video, thank you for sharing.
Hoping for another marvelous recovery for David. Thank you for making such an intimate and lovely video about your experiences.
We are hoping for that, too, although we know we need to appreciate each day just in case we don't get it. Thank you so much for your wonderful words.
I don't think I have ever commented here before, but I watch your videos religiously. I wish all the best to your family. Can't wait to hear more about your book. ❤
Hi Hannah, thank you for sharing. I found your presentation very moving. I am one of many 'out here' silently wishing and hoping for whatever you dare hope for - with bells on! I love the fact that for much of David's stay you were so close together.
Oh Angie--thank you! Being able to be with him in the hospital was wonderful. I think it made both of us feel so much calmer.
May God Bless your family, Hannah. ❤️ Your love for your family is palpable in every video.
Thank you so much, Betsy.
Sending love and wishing you both well!
Thanks, Cassie. I'm so overwhelmed by all the support here!
Such grace, strength and inspiration. Thank you for sharing such personal experience. You both are lucky to have found each other, in the darkest moments please remember that.
Thank you so much, Penitent! Not all of our moments are perfect, of course, but we do feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and built lives together.
All my very best wishes to you and David, Hannah. 💛
Thank you so much. Having all of y'all in our corner means so much to me--and to David, too.
Sending love to you and David and your son. X
Thanks for making this! I think of you and your partner often!
You and David are an inspiration. I am praying for healing and so glad he is surpassing expectations. Such a gift of time though so hard as well. Cannot wait to get info on the book project. Hugs to you both.
Hugs to you right back. Thank you so much for your kind words!
Thank you for sharing Hannah. I love the idea of a writers retreat in hospital. And I loved and appreciated the reading. I’ve had a horrendous year and it is true, we only live in the present moment. Take care of you and David. I hope treatment goes well.
My thoughts are with you as well, Sara. So sorry to hear you've had a bad year too. Please feel free to reach out by email or voxer if you'd like. Yes--the present moment is indeed all we know we have, no matter how much we hope for more time.
Love to you and David, thanks for sharing :)
Thank you so much, Jim.
Ms. Hannah thank you for sharing this beautiful video, Sending my thoughts to you and to your family. Take care
Sending love to you and your family. I think of you often, Hannah.
Thank you so much. I am so grateful for all the friends I've made here--especially the folks like you that I med quite early on!
You have a beautiful soul. I hope you can both get the rest and renewal you need. ❤❤❤
Rest and renewal is exactly what I am hoping for these days! Thank you so much for your kind words, Kim.
@@HannahsBooks 🥰🥰
Focus without serious thinking sounds exactly right for the moment you were in. I’m glad to hear that you’ve past the second surgery hurdle and the always too long wait on the pathology report.
The pathology report held good news, although it was balanced by somewhat bad news from the most recent scan. We're now keeping our fingers crossed that the radiation and chemo will keep things at bay for at least a little while. Thank you so much for being here.
@@HannahsBooks These mixed results make for a complex mix of hope and worry. A good time to be home together surrounded by familiar comforts. I think there are many people near and far crossing their fingers for more time for you.
That is an amazing facility. Glad you have it in this hard time to make it a little better for you two. My good thoughts your way.
Thank you so much, Allen. A good facility makes so much difference, doesn't it? I've been thinking a lot about Faulkner in August recently and think I might have something up my sleeve, if I find time...
@@HannahsBooks That sounds like something you could sink your interests in! Good to hear from you, Hannah 🙂👍😉
I'm glad David is getting the needed treatment. I hope it goes as well as possible. Don't worry too much about editing. We're just glad to be along on your journey from afar.
Thank you so much, Pop. He's now had three days of radiation and chemo--and is handling it extremely well so far. I'm so glad you are all here with us.
@@HannahsBooks I'm glad he's handling treatment well. I hope you both can sleep despite the stress.
❤️
❤️❤️❤️
❤️🙏😷
You probably already know this, but the WaPost tweeted David’s opinion piece. I enjoyed it very much.
We’ve been so excited to see the article in print and read the beautiful comments on the WaPo site!
Hi Hannah, thank you for sharing. Thinking of you and your husband. ❤
I feel so honored to have made friends with you and everyone else here on booktube. Thank you so much!
Sweet thoughts to you and your Husband 🌸💕🙏
My words feel highly inadequate today. Just know I am thinking of you and David and keeping you in my prayers.
🤗❤️
Wishing you and David the very best of luck. And I think you should just start calling the receptionist Jo, no matter what her name is. ❤️
Now that is perfect! At radiation today, I mentioned what we had noticed to Beth--and she mentioned that they are currently looking for a new nurse and may have to add having the name "jo" or "joe" to the hiring requirements!
Hello Hannah, I just watched this and was very moved. You are a special woman and I love you. I pray Hashem grants your husband a complete recovery. Shalom and Aloha.
❤💕❤
That's lovely that they admitted you so y'all could stay together 💖I didn't know about Fauci's connection to AIDS research! That image of those people as outlines was heartbreaking. I'm glad the surgery went well. Hugs 💖
Fauci wasn't always perfect on AIDS issues. Not in the very earliest years, and not always in later years, either. I'll let you look up some of the controversies. But at least as I see it looking back, he not only conducted and funded research but he also changed the minds of a lot of people outside of the gay/queer community (including my parents). I think his compassion--shown in those 1984 pictures--is clear. Sometimes he didn't speak up as much as activists wanted. Just like with covid stuff, he was sometimes a bit too politic. I was somewhat involved in ACT UP in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and Fauci at least eventually realized ACT UP needed a seat at the table. I can't shake that image with the outlines of people. So powerful.
Of course, as a North Carolinian, the ACT UP protest I really really wish I had gone to was the condoming of Senator Jesse Helms's house in DC. vimeo.com/444036076
Hannah, my thoughts are with you and your husband David.
XOXOX
Your love could heal the ozone. 🤍 From co-admission to book collab, this video is incredibly romantic! My hope for you and your David may be invisible, but its weight is immeasurable.
Oh, Sam! Your comment has me in tears!
