Removing the pen slot so that the pen has to live outside of the laptop is absolutely stupid as well, I hardly ever use the pen, but I do use it every month or so to sign a document or something online. Why should I have to carry this bloody pen around in my backpack for the tiny amount of time that I use it, it was a great design with it sitting inside the laptop, what a stupid design flaw now
this channel stayed authentic. no click bait, to the point, no awkward comedy (youtubers tend to forget that the product review is the content, not their awkward silly humor)
00:38 Don't worry Ma'am I trust your review, You've been on RUclips for a very long time now and still keep going, Thank you for your effort and entertainment for all of us, God bless.
I am not a fan of Gen 9. I rather get the Gen 8. Reason and huge point for me. The garage for the pen. Chances are too high to lose the pen, only attached via magnet. That always set Lenovo apart from other competitors, to have the pen secured and out of sight! Great review as always.
+1 here still have both the gen 6 and 8 and used the pen mostly to annotate some documents as needed, lenovo should offer an extra full sized pen as an option only. i hope they will put it back on their upcoming models....
I got mine last week. Lovely laptop but I do not love the thing at the top of the monitor. The pen is a massive improvement. The keyboard is great but felt a bit different from the previous generation. I got the mat IPS monitor, and it was great. One question Lenovo, why no USB c on the right hand side?
I find the change to an external pen to be a huge disappointment - it was always possible to buy a bigger, better pen for regular use but for me, a magnetically attached pen is just going to be an annoyance. The internal pen was always there when it was needed, and I'm sad to see that excellent aspect gone.
Exactly, I've had a think pad or two for a while and the USB C charging ports are both on the left. Of course every time I sit down anywhere I need to plug it in the plug is closer to the right hand side, typical. Why don't they put one on each side
More curious on the thermals. For the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, it was a thermal mess. I frequently get heat burns on the arm rest/body and it only performs ok-ish with 3 hours of battery life under full brightness. The Type C port is very fragile, and the hinge will get wobbly after a few weeks of use...
I own the X1 Yoga's 3:2 cousin, the X1 Titanium. My experience with thermals is really similar to yours. Doing any task (even something as simple as web browsing) makes the fans rev up and it sounds like an F-16.
A dedicated place for the pen inside the laptop was such a big advantage, it looks like they are doing everything for people to stop using the pen for this device. It just makes no sense. They had a feature that was allowing them to stand out and now they are pretty much like any other 2-in-1 device with no dedicated place/garage for the pen. Yeah bad times. Unfortunately 2-in-1 devices from Lenovo are not getting better from year to year. I'm still using my old Thinkpad S1 Yoga from time to time (as my second device) when brainstorming / writing down ideas/sketches and it feels so much better compared to X1 Yoga 5th gen, yeah the pen tip position accuracy is not as good as on new Yogas but apart from that it is a much better experience when using a pen, I even found myself thinking that I like it better than apple pencil (apple pencil might be better for drawing but definitely not for writing down notes/ideas quickly).
Having the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6, it's really awesome to see that the line is still going and still evolving. I do agree that the name change is better, since calling mine a Yoga has caused some confusion in the past. But it's been a great device (even if the 4K panel with Intel i7 11 series processor can put a strain on the battery). It's also great to see they now offer the trackpad without the physical buttons as well, increasing the size of that is a big plus.
They just remove the best features of the previous X1 Yoga: the retractable keyboard, now the pen silo / garage.. and they add a horrendous bump to the top part of the screen :/ The Co-Pilot key, I mean.. I can't even..
Another great video review. Thanks, Lisa. Could you start informing us about webcam quality or security features when you do laptop videos? That would be super helpful. Thanks.
lenovo just put back the pen silo on your next model, i dont care if its an intel or amd, i just need that pen to be there when i need it.and pls stop fixing whats not broken.

That naming is confusing. At first I thought Lenovo made an X1 tablet again. But I think the yoga behind thinkpad was a clear name. The consumer yoga line is very confusing though.
I was curious about the speakers. This is the first gen to move them under the keyboard, all the previous gens had speaker grilles on the sides. How does the sound compare?
Hi. I just placed this order for close to USD 2500 (India). Will arrive in a few weeks. Can I ask for your feedback on the color of the keys? The color seems pretty poor to me. I used an X1 Yoga Gen 6 in the past. It was Grey color but the keys were fully grey with metallic feel, but the keys in the video look plasticky. Is the look really bad in person?
If these would have front facing speakers and come in black, it would be perfect. Much better than the T series or P1 as those don' the high refresh touch. Needs a beefier processor too. This is so close to being a travel and workstation laptop.
Thanks for the great review, Lisa. At least I can scratch my X1 Yogas off the list for good now. People who buy 2-in-1s like to use pens. With the silo gone and no pen around with a clip to properly carry it in a pocket, there's simply no reason to enforce that behavior by sending money to Lenovo. The pen may have been tiny, but it was always just there when you needed it without being afraid of losing it. We all know what magnetically attached means: it'll be gone in a hot minute if you don't constantly keep an eye on it. It can't be that they needed more room, there is still plenty of dead space around the battery, where they could have easily put a 60 Wh model.
Ohhh, Lisa. I trust your opinions more than every other reviewer on youtube. If there's some wiggle room in the editorial direction, I think we're all ok with sponsored content.
I really wish mechanical trackpads (like the one in the thinkpad S1 yoga) were more common... they make a lot more sense than clickpads, since they don't require as much pressure to actuate, and have a more consistent actuation across the pad... and by disabling "tap to click", you can essentially eradicate misclicks, by requiring force to click - one finger for left, two for right, etc, since you are no longer playing with time/pressure thresholds to do different things, you are doing different things, to do different things.
Digital River for UK sales is such a scam of an experience that I recommend against purchasing. Also pen not able to go in is a massive no. They would rather pay you to cover this than to improve their service
It's really really stupid how they have replaced the print screen button with the fingerprint scanner, I literally use that print screen button every 30 minutes on my ThinkPad. It would be a real pain to have this one
it used to be ideapad yoga and then later they introduced the thinkpad yoga, yoga used to mean it was a convertible, now they make normal laptops with the yoga brand, makes no sense
Great review! I'm thinking between this one and the HP Elite 1040 x360 G11. Have you tested that one and if so which would you recommend? Also I'm thinking if I should wait a year or so for the new generation of chips with better AI, but dont know if its worth it 🤔

Why didn't you test the backlight on the keyboard, I've heard that it's really bad on these new models and the light doesn't show through the keys... ?
It*s your fault that I bought my first ThinkPad T480 years ago. After my second had USB issues i switched to HP (Specter5s and Elites the most). Since last year, I went back to Lenovo and have now a few Legions, Yogas and IdeaPads for me and my children. I guess most of the new generation is just bloat this year. I'll wait for next generation to see .. just look at the "mixed results" about Dragon blurbs etc. Greetings and best wishes from Germany.
intel computers feel so out of place when compared no the new ARM chipsets. I mean a SnapDragon version of this would probably be faster, have twice the batter life, and not need those ugly vents on the back. Too bad there is no Linux support just yet, and that the Thinkpad keyboards are now crap. They should look at Thinkpads they were designing before they started to imitate Apple with aesthetics instead of functionality as a priority, Is time for Intel and AMD to either fix their chips and make them competitive again, or die.
I’ve made several purchases based on Lisa’s advice and I’ve never regretted one single one! Totally honest reviews: it’s good to see companies are sponsoring her . And I trust that she won’t change her view just as it is sponsored
This is not a product review; it's a product showcase, sponsored by the product manufacturer. Remember, credibility can be lost much faster than it can be built.
@@damizan8331 Unfortunately a great many Western companies are forced to manufacture in Communist China. I do my best to never buy anything from adversaries of the West. It's very difficult but well worth it. So bet all you want. The statement is not just bold. It's common freaking sense to anyone who cares about our country and understands what the PRC is all about.
lol. I say "no thanks" to this from the fact it's Intel. No more Intel heaters and desktops diguising as laptops (you're always plugged in). Stupid-ass chips.
Thanks for sponsoring this video, Lenovo. Check out the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 here: go.magik.ly/ml/23a45/
I stopped being interested at "Intel" lol
Will always come to this channel for 1) Lisa's great reviews; 2) Lisa's great t-shirts
True, I disagree with this particular shirt though: Current measurement is often done with resistors in the milliohms. Those are not futile at all!
No one does branding like Lisa!

This channel has been my first choice to review new laptops (and some other devices) for 15 years now.
Thank you Lisa! 🙌
The intro has been consistent I like it

What is with the trend of putting the only two USB-C ports on the same side of the chassis?

I literally watched 2 old phone reviews by Lisa posted 14 years ago 😂 Love how old and organized this channel is. Love it!!!
Where can I find this ‘Lenovo slim pen’? Mine didn’t come with one, and I can’t find it anywhere online.
Why can't we have the X1 Carbon in this Metal Color ? Does Lenovo got that in such color ? metalic ?
Looooving the new 'do Lisa!
As always I keep going back to your page for trusted reviews.
And why they decided no iris vga ???????😢

I wish they'd revisit the watchband hinge. I had one of the original Yogas with it and loved it.

It has the dedicated TrackPoint buttons!
I have the X1 yoga carbon. The hinge are so stiff. The lid is crack
I was curious about the speakers. This is the first gen to move them under the keyboard, all the previous gens had speaker grilles on the sides. How does the sound compare?
Which one have more battery life FHD Or 2K model, how many hours difference between both
Lisa, It would be great if you could do a Thinkpad P1 Gen7 review soon, indepth, and in comparisson with Gen 6, pros and cons, with the 165GHz screen.

Lisa for mobile tech review my favorite !
I'd like to see more thinkpad with AMD cpu on board. The battery last longer like with apple macbook today.
120hz and an Qualcomm ARM SOC or Lunar Lake would be perfect on this device. I will continue using my Thinkpad Nano G1 until then
First timer here, I believe I am staying here longer!

This is a Thinkpad? I don’t remember Thinkpad X40 nor X220 looking like this. I’m buying Fujitsu laptop from Japan

Its an average laptop. Doesn’t have a number pad, and doesn’t have an SD card IO.

She’s got my Nephews haircut in high school
Yayyyyy
MacBook user and this comp looks super low quality and cheap

Core ultra is terrible branding. Zero interest in buying Intel for the foreseeable future.

Never but another intel. That company sucks in every way.
