      Columbia!

      Choose Columbia ONLY if he has riot gear, pepper spray and police escort, otherwise Cornell.

      100% hopkins. like in my genuine opinion, you'd be absolutely foolish not to. go to Cornell if you're happy studying in an environment where its practically the size of a state school, large classes, rainy days about 80% of the year, and dorms are more than a mile away from classes (and dont get me started on hiking up the slope). go to Columbia if you're completely fine walking through protests at least once a week to get to classes

    Ignore the comments man, look into the location and culture and make the decision that is right for you. You cannot go wrong with literally any of these. Personally, I love Cornell, but there are specific reasons why. It just comes down to what you prefer man. Congrats on the fantastic choices!

    Hey Lour, I feel that the major is more important than the college/university. I've seen a lot of videos from guys that studied at Ivyes but made a wrong decision with their major. I don't know much about linguistics but please help him to understand and visualize his possible dream job/company or activities at his future job. I feel you did a good move studying medicine. Both of you are gifted guys and I wish you success and happiness

    Congratulations and cool video. My advise, if I may: go to where ever the after aid\scholarship cost is the least. Areas with more housing, closer to home & with better weather are also preferable to places like NYC, where even a 6 figure salary doesn't get you much, and it's cold & crowded. After graduation, there aren't many jobs anyway... (I won't call the university system a scam, but it kind of is in some ways, exploiting your dreams for money to advanced research. It's like a tax on the young to fund advanced research. And you pay that tax as you return student loans).

    Hey! I was deciding between the EXACT same schools as you--cornell, Columbia, Johns Hopkins (and then I had northwestern, Princeton, and ucla). it really comes down to what you're studying. Cornell and Columbia are great, but Ithaca was raining every day I was touring, and the students there said it's like that 3/4 of the year, so I really didn't want to deal with the rain all the time. Columbia was great, but while the campus is beautiful, it also is so small that you lose a lot of the feeling of a college lifestyle on that campus. I selected Johns Hopkins and I could not be happier. the research opportunities are incredible, the professors are so caring (and no, theres no grade deflation like fake posters try to make it out to be), and even better yet, there are NO gen eds you have to complete at hopkins. its all up to what you're interested in and want to take for classes. and the financial aid is way more generous at hopkins than it is at any ivy... people get so caught up in the ivy prestige but then regret paying so much for it when you could have equally the same (or better) education at hopkins for way less with finaid (and if u dont like ur original finaid package, the finaid office is happy for u to appeal it and they will give u more money). if you would like to talk more about why I selected hopkins, feel free to respond to this message and then also if you're in the accepted students CO2028 discord, I can talk there too! congratulations and hope to see you on campus next fall! :)

    • @Super-mr4yn
      @Super-mr4yn 9 месяцев назад +1

      oh, and it's so easy to double major at hopkins but much harder to double major at Cornell or Columbia--that's one thing almost every student I asked around campuses when touring said about those ivy schools... tbh, don't consider brown either. if u have Cornell, Columbia, or hopkins, brown's not a relevant school for u to consider at that point LMAO

    • @pedrog4651
      @pedrog4651 9 месяцев назад +2

      Why no Brown? I thought it was a good school, great location and beautiful campus..

      Why not Brown?

    • @Super-mr4yn
      @Super-mr4yn 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@lourdricksroom my assumption (correct me if im wrong) is that based on the schools you applied to, you're interested in either something premed related (i.e., biology, neuroscience) or something engineering (if it happens to be bme, the most logical option would be hopkins). I have quite a few friends at brown and their curriculum is known specifically for liberal arts such as history, kinda econ, and then also math. their bio and engineering departments are not weak necessarily, but definitely does not receive close to the same amount of funding and resources as schools like hopkins, Cornell, Columbia... you're going to have to put more work into yourself to learn content rather than having resources provided by the school that can facilitate that learning. for example, at hopkins, we have a program called PILOT that is free and provided by the school where students who have previously earned an A in a class will guide current students taking the class through problem sets (the psets have been created by the professor of the class) which will mirror the exam difficulty. this way, you get extra practice and have an additional point of contact to reach out to if the professor is unavailable to answer all of your questions. theres plenty other resources as well. the nice thing about brown, similar to hopkins, is there's no gen eds. but other than that, you have all these other 3 options of Cornell, Columbia, and hopkins and I feel choosing brown puts yourself at a disadvantage because no matter what, you will be paying about the same at each of the ivys, but you will be paying less at hopkins. if you're paying the same at any of the ivys, why pick the weakest one for your intended major(s)? if you want more info on hopkins in terms of personal experience and how I narrowed down my selection from having options from Cornell, Columbia, Princeton, northwestern, ucla, etc., please let me know because I bet you're stressed and wanting to make the best decision. just to reiterate, please do not get caught up with the fact that "the school is an ivy" because hopkins is just as prestigious, if not more (I would say hopkins and Columbia are on equal levels of prestige, but hopkins is relatively more prestigious than Cornell and brown especially for medicine and engineering), than some of the schools ur deciding between.

      An ivy will give you not only incredible name recognition in every facet of life and an Ivy alumni network, but rubbing shoulders with the movers and shakers of the world the next 50 years trumps any benefit of attending a non-ivy other than Stanford or MIT. And that is why hopkins has a 48% yield while yields for Cornell (67%), Columbia (64%) and Brown (63%) are 15%+ higher. They are just much more desirable schools for most people.
