42:50 I remember watching that episode of Meg at the yarn shop! Did she ever make a project with all that yarn she bought at all those neat little shops? (Wait…with all her “spare time”? Never mind.) But if she ever does…maybe a wintertime project…we subscribers would be very interested to see anything she makes with her fancy yarn…oh, and Ben…great hair. 🏆
I just listened to this on Spotify! You guys are my 3 favourite homesteaders and are a huge inspiration to me. I suffer from health problems and after learning the truth about the food we’re coerced (through lies & advertising) into eating I have been growing some of my own food in my 1000 square foot garden and buying Organic. I dream of moving from here in the UK to a remote homestead in the USA! I’m trying one day at a time to make my dream come true, I’m 43 so can’t take too long 😂😂😂
I follow SowTheLand for I like his story and his progression. I do not have a Homestead, I live in suburbia and started with the raised garden beds to grow some of my food. I will watch Al and Ben. I love seeing young men with Homesteads, I grew up on a cattle ranch, all grass fed 50 years ago.
All the times I commented on Al's videos lamenting that he wasn't near y'all for joint projects . . . like this week Gina and string trimming I suggested making it a Hollar modded chain trimmer. This is fantastic, I know you all see my nearly every video comments, I watch others, but as I have posted before the three of y'all's channels are my version of "Must see TV" Thanks, guys!
I have two boys that are 24 and 21. Listening to them talk about their friends I am struck by how many of them do not drive or have a license but have no desire to have a vehicle. They can borrow one so they don’t want their own. Things sure have changed.
Even tho nothing was said the signs were there. I mean for example, Jason created chicken tractor plans & his vid said they were on Abundance Plus. The very next day Justin did a vid where he was pushing HIS chicken tractor plans on AP. thing is, he offered extras, like Free vids. Its his platform, he can do what he wants. It felt like it slighted Jason.
So awesome to see all three of you guys collaborating! Been watching you all for a few years now and I've been super inspired watching each of your journeys. Can't wait to start my own as I just bought my first home and homestead in East Tennessee! Looking forward to your next podcast!!!
I personally can’t wait to see what you guys can accomplish in the next 10 years! Your wife’s are intelligent and hard working! Ben you have some extra muscle with those boys and are great at helping! Love watching your children play and work helping on the farms! I wish all children had a chance to work on a farm!
How cool my three favorite utubers. It is nice to know the three of you are close enough to do this podcast. Although I don’t what a pod cast is. Will it be on utube?
Great job! I have enjoyed watching all three of your channels for awhile. It was fun to see you three resourceful funny calm guys talking togather. Thanks so much!
Thoroughly enjoyed your podcast! Keep ‘em coming! It’s like sitting around the table at a local coffee shop with all of you and being a fly on the wall listening and observing. I like how you ask one another questions and they seem to be questions that I’ve had over the years watching all your videos. I think a review of your week is a great way to start and just see where it leads. That way each of you has a chance to review your specific projects and get input and feedback from the other two. Al I must admit it’s been a very long time since I’ve watched your RUclips channel for some reason your channel no longer appears in my feed at all, I remember watching you do a lot of building and I remember watching you do a lot of digging at the new property. I watch HollarHomestead and Sow the Land videos as soon as they appear but I’m wondering how I lost track of your channel Al?! I’m going to check and make sure I’m still a subscriber, must be some sort of RUclips algorithm?? Strange though. Keep these podcasts coming and maybe let the wives do a few from their perspectives. I’d love that too! ❤️🥰🙏🏻🇨🇦
... And Al the large homesteader and builder/carpenter. I look forward to all of you sharing skills and knowledge. What a great podcast, thanks! I would love to have any of you as a guest on my podcast. Cheers!
Jason, What Al said about planting rutabagas will help your hard ground. There are specific cover crops that you can plant for a season to breakup hard dirt. Link Ben said, dicone radish is one crop, plus other crops. I like this channel "No-Till Growers" regarding cover crops.
If it was a horse ring where they actually rode there is probably a good layer of sand that has compacted the new compost/soil should help bring up the deep worms and break up the sand later.
3 of our favorite you tube Homesteaders together chatting. This is great. Love hearing the stories , hints of upcoming things. The behind the scenes commentary of your struggles and truimps are just as inspiring as your individual channels.
I'm digging the backstories guy's 👌 It's so awesome getting to know you all better 😊 can't wait for next Friday. Another question, What are your favorite veggies/animals to grow and harvest?
@@LumnahAcres That's awesome! I can't wait to see all the dairy products start coming in 👏 my mom and I recently learned how to make mozzarella out of store bought milk, and that sure has changed my life 🤣 I couldn't even begin to imagine how good it is will fresh milk.
Well, this is sort of exciting! I have followed all three of these channels for years! Ben & Jason live near enough to each other to appear on each other's channels once in a while. It is super cool to see Al & his take on things from a very different location in Northern New Hampshire!
What a great chat guys. Always fun getting the insider info. And y’all make it like we’re sitting in the same room chatting. I won’t lie. I talked to the tv with questions and comments. Lol
My backyard in Washington State used to be a horse racetrack. It was very sandy instead of the local packed dirt. Our garden ended up growing pretty well.
Al have you and gina sold the smaller farm I think I missed a video...building your old barn/workshop is where I started watching you I was looking for a tutorial on putting up a new tin roof on my pergola I built when I was 23 Im 60 next month and I cant wait to watch you build the new workshop...so excited...
Great idea to put this on You Tube , shall be call you three the 3 muscuteers , thanks for sharing your lives looking forward to hearinall your experiences
Jason you need to be sure you have roosting bars for the turkeys to sleep on! They get a form of bumblefoot otherwise! Their feet are alot more tender then chickens! As for farm trucks! The minitrucks give you you mini service! Used two door pick up is the way to go get more bang for your buck! My question to you guys is that do you have a 5 year plan to grow your homesteads and what criteria do you use??
Really enjoyed you guys talking. I can't believe they can get their driving lience at a young age. In the Uk they have to wait until they are 17 years.
Loved the show guys and looking forward to more. Was wondering if there will be talk about the gardens and what problems with growing certain plants and about canning and so on. And the live stock….keeping them safe and healthy. Great show and looking forward to hearing about daily chores and not enough time in the day. ❤
Hi, Al, Ben, and Jason! It’s good seeing all of you at at the same time! I have been subscribed to all your homestead channels for several years. In fact, I have viewed and liked all your videos on each of your channels. I was pleasantly surprised to see all three of you together on this podcast. Al, I live in the same county in North Carolina as Ben and Jason. So thankful you guys are doing this podcast.
Some breeds of turkeys are overbed. Try the less popular turkeys. People have a habit of doing what the commercial farmers do, and the other turkeys available have great qualities other than just growing fat fast.💞
Thank you for starting the podcast. I subscribe to all three of your channels in RUclips. I appreciate how this chat is more honest about homesteading, i.e. it’s not all sunshine and berries. One suggestion for down the line-just the wives. Their perspective would be wonderful. ❤ PS you might try adding niacin for the pullets. The leg problems sound similar to duck issues.
That’s what I was thinking too. I think it is Living Traditions Homestead that was talking about that and that the ducks and/or geese needed higher protein like the 1st 2 weeks and then have to cut back the protein or they will develop ‘angel wings’.
Dang I'm behind, I commented on your first one then this one popped right up. Serious only 1 video in between the two. This is a good day! Thanks guys.
Ben you look like a deer caught in the headlights of a vehicle 😊 you stare into the camera too long. Al looks much more relaxed 😊 Ben you harvested potatoes this week too. Ben have you thought of a root cellar in a earthdome type of structure? Maybe build a concrete block structure and cover with soil bags stacked around, some people use tyres and stamp soil in it, then add a layer of soil and plant grass on top.
I performed music in my younger days, mostly classical and brass. When the group began, if one of the group was less able to share limelights with the rest. A good conversation then occurred and things changed and performances were much more rewarding. You guys will find that sweet spot, if you work for that. I like what you are doing, make every effort to share equal mic time. IMHO
Might I suggest Fertrell breeder supplement for your turkeys. Sounds like early is a nutritional problem with legs. Jeff Mattocks is excellent resource for nutrition.

Amazing, three of my favorites. I'll be watching
Ben, when you know better you do better! Don’t worry about what we think!! You do you!! We love you guys regardless❤
Thanks, Ben, for the heads up. I love all 3 of you guys & your families. Did subscribe. Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister ❤❤
Filming before knowing something will work has value too. Learning what doesn't work and WHY is just as important as knowing what does work.

Please don’t stop doing these - I totally enjoy them!!
Wow This is really different, I am really enjoying these podcasts, Keep up the good work guys!
Glad you enjoy it!
This podcast gives even us old guys the encouragement that we may be able to pull off homesteading.
Thank you! 🙌
Good one …. Like hearing what Lumnah Acres is planning for the old property.
yea this one surprised me, i had no clue they were planning on using it

This is awesome to all of you together teaching us so much about Homesteading!
I'd like to hear the backstory on moving from Abundance+ to Patreon
Agreed
did they all do that ?
These guys are too nice to say anything negative. Completely respect that.

How cool my three favorite utubers. It is nice to know the three of you are close enough to do this podcast. Although I don’t what a pod cast is. Will it be on utube?
Yes, looks like these will all be available in both audio form via podcasts or video form here on RUclips.😊
Thanks for your time ,you three are pretty humble and super skilled 🇨🇦🌻
Off-grid is awesome. Heat is the main problem. We were completely off-grid. No microwave, propane radiant boiler heat. Lots of propane each month.
Great job! I have enjoyed watching all three of your channels for awhile. It was fun to see you three resourceful funny calm guys talking togather. Thanks so much!
Thanks Jan

Can’t wait till next Friday. God bless all three of you.
Ben should tell the story of how he has turned the red clay into very good garden soil and his composting system.
I was thinking the same....you have to work and improve upon it every year.
Jason- RE: your pumpkin land, plant a dichon mixture cover crop in the fall after the pumpkins are done and that will help your soil a ton!
Daikon radish…yes!
Like the different climate growing . . .

What are your favorite veggies/animals to grow and harvest?
We love raising pigs can't beat pastured raised bacon! And we are loving having a milk cow on the Homestead you can do so much with there milk

Love from our homestead in Morocco! 🇲🇦
Add compost teas and mushroom compost to bring more life into your new pumpkin patch

Yep me too I was telling Ben ….potatoes Ben.
I love seeing your places kept up neat!!!

Really liking the behind the scene topics. Great idea guys
More to come!
@@Homesteadshoptalk tell Ben very important not to go pee after handling hot peppers. I M sure you all have that figured out by now. LOL
@@glengillis7775 And NEVER pee on a hot fence !!!!!
Next, the wives? 😊
These three skilled sets are so diversed😊
Plant dacon radishes to go deep. Plant in sept. They die in winter and soil critters have tunnels and do the rest.

Guys! I really love this. Listening to Al is worth a lot for me. No offense to you other two, you’ve got it going on, too.
Ben you harvested potatoes too weeded the greenhouse wound up those vines that grow gourds...
My grandmother used to feed diced red onion to the few week old turkeys, it might help you too.
It is so nice having all three of you from my never miss channels in one place at one time.
getting to watch this after so many months of enjoying the podcasts and the chemistry between you all

Jason, look for a Ford 8N, 9N, or 2N. Usually less than 2000 dollars. They will out due any walk behind. They don't build anything like that anymore.
Wonderful!
