    Now that is some bracing that can handle the Arizona wind, very nice. I see the Chef was fully protected this time 🙂

    That’s pretty cool you were able to use that battery generator to cook up 2 yards. Really enjoying this solar panel video, love your work been watching you a few years, great crew you got, hi from Florida.

    Awesome job 💕👍 Chef 👨‍🍳 and you got it done. Be awesome to be able to run the Air conditioning off solar completely during the warm summer months. Won't have to have that guilty feeling running the AC at those in between temperatures 🤙

    That's a pretty cool solar system mount... and here I am thinking of making a poor man's temporary carport out of pvc... maybe it would be better to use a system like the one you used here. Looks like what you use for chain link fencing...

    that's a lot of scaffolding to put up, is it just over engineered for the sake of it or is there the risk of it falling down or being blown over or an earthquake type event in the area?
    thanks

      I'm no expert but I think once the solar panels are installed, we'll see the size of the "wing" or airfoil it creates and it will become apparent the structure's susceptability to wind forces. That's just a guess.

      Yes it's designed for 120mph winds

    Recently finished a solar carport roof, which attaches on one side to the house rafters (panels slope rainwater into gutter) and to the ground on the other side, with ~12/1 slope and the panels overlapping slightly like shingles. I considered those aluminum structural fittings, which I've used before in industry (Hollaender, Diamond is another), but found them too pricey. Instead, I used 1-1/4" steel EMT 10 ft long and their fittings. If re-doing, I would use 1-1/2" or even 2" since the EMT deflected more than I liked over the 12 ft span with the panels up (60 lb ea). I added offset wire rope on the bottom of each tube to stiffen them, using fence fittings.

    Are the solar panels subsidized by the state?

    Are you sure the cross braces going from back to middle front vertical pipes are correct? It seems that the other way around gives more stability to the longer vertical pipes at the back.

      I don't change Engineered drawings.
      I thought the same thing, but I came to the conclusion the top rails tie it all together.

    • @JonnyDIY
      @JonnyDIY Год назад +2

      I thought same thing til I saw all the rails that connect the 2 that the panels mount to

    • @OohzyJohnDow
      @OohzyJohnDow Год назад +1

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete This I can see as well indeed. It might be that structurally the connection between the longer pipes at the back to make them longer can't be centrally braced or would snap under wind loads.

      Most likely, but time will tell for sure.

    can you just do sonotubes on the top part. Like doing a 2x6 frame around the hole to screw and level a sonotube section that goes only about 12" into the soil? Or does it have to go the full depth of the hole?

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete

      Full depth sono tube saves alot of concrete/money

      @@OdellCompleteConcrete We already augered holes 6 feet deep by 16 inch diameter called in design. Could we just use a short piece of the sonotube for the part above ground level or is it required to have the sonotube all the way to the bottom of the hole. Thank you in advance.
