Wow, and now I and Sarah-Michelle are older than Giles was in the show, and I still haven’t seen it in its entirety. Had to leave the states in ‘94 for a couple of years and when I got back, all these “new shows” were already in their third or so seasons. X-Files, Star Trek: Voyager, Buffy, etc.
Nick Sullivan it was due to The WB and 20th Century Fox (the company that produced buffy the vampire slayer and the spin off angel) having conflicts over the show’s then future 2 seasons and 44 episodes renewals and Joss Whedon wanted a $2.35 Million salary increase but The WB refused so upn came in and saw interest. That’s why the 5th Season finale (which aired on May 22,2001) was called The WB series finale due to Buffy moving to upn and by October 2001 buffy began its 6th season which was its first season on UPN
Negan I agree as much as I love Roswell but I felt like Angel should have moved to upn the same time Buffy The Vampire Slayer did and the reason is due to the fact that the ratings performance for Roswell’s second season were not so good as it was the first season which led The WB to cancel it. But The WB moved angel to Monday nights while upn picked up Roswell and the third season of Roswell was its first and only season on upn and it got cancelled at the end of the 2001-2002 season

Classic.
From The WB 1997-2001
So, Buffy left The WB and went to UPN?

on some affiliates that has the both upn/wb affiliates
Angel should have taken it's chances with UPN
