@incogneto Van has a traditional Irish album called Irish heartbeat with the chieftains. He has a songs called One Irish Rover, Celtic Ray, Streets of Arklow, Celtic Swing, Celtic New year etc. He married a former Miss Ireland and also lived in Dublin for a long time. I reckon he's ok with it, or maybe the song he wrote One Irish Rover was about Bono and not himself? 😂
@incogneto But also if you've ever heard an interview with him from the 70s he sounds like a farmhand from some ranch in ireland. He can claim british but he's got irish blood.
I LOVE Van Morrison, but Astral Weeks is the most overrated album in the history of pop music. There is not one song on that album that can hold a candle to this song playing here or most of the songs on Moondance. Name one song from Astral Weeks that you can sing right now off the top of your head.... Nothin'
All of them, actually. But then I used to play it endlessly. Not to take away from Moondance, which is an album of excellent songs. But they're distinct. The stream of consciousness running through Astral Weeks makes the whole album an experience. They're different. It's pointless to try to compare, and doing so merely diminishes both.
'Jackie Wilson Says', 'Brown Eyed Girl', 'St Dominic's Preview', too much great stuff from Van to mention. She should do some Them to see where Van got his start.
The first song I ever heard n now I’m obsessed! His songs take you somewhere else. A journey of mystique. A beautifully written song. That is simply timeless
India....Van is the musician, song writer, performer, who fuses jazz, blues and rock seamlessly. All one. His live performances are much more jazzy. In the early 70s I saw him many times in LA. Small venues. Tupelo Honey is the Mississippi town Elvis was born in. A brilliant song that gives us all the full soul of the great artist he is.
This is one of the best songs you will have the pleasure of reacting to,

My Gosh, I toured vans Childhood neighborhood and then at the end of the same day saw his performance at the Lyric theater~ Belfast, Northern Ireland October, 2019. Thank you Van and band. Truly a brilliant, inspired musical display. And his back up singer killed it!
Excellent choice! When the pandemic started and the stress levels skyrocketed I made a playlist of Van Morrison, and at the end of the day, at home after work, I'd loop it. I did this for weeks. Honest to God, it helped me w/ anxiety and stress. Van Morrison's music is like magic. Recommend Van Morrison's 'These Are the Days'.
Van Morrison "Tupelo Honey" -- you've touched a classic song from a legendary musician. So much more can be said about him and his music. You could dive really deep into the rabbit hole listening to his music. Another all time classic from Van Morrison, with a snappier stepped up syncopated style compared with this song is "Moondance." And for an example of triple meter -- 3 beats to the bar -- check out "The Way Young Lovers Do" off the Astral Weeks album.
One of the best. I just learned he made 40 albums..wow! You can't go wrong with VM, to me all of his music i have heard is perfect. You can hear he puts his heart and soul into every lyric of every song. Thank you for this, an all time classic.
Van is playing the Tenor sax on this piece. I used to go out across the Bay to San Anselmo from Oakland to see him jam at the lion's share on jam nights he played his horn and didn't try to be the big statr he just loved playing the horn I have enjoyed him from the first tim I heard him singing lead for the Irish rock band Them
"Van the Man" is a Poet Laureate of rock posing as a lyricist (Bob Dylan being another), often writing in a heightened spiritual stream of consciousness. Love & life being filtered by his thoughts into incredible songs. This man is deep & wide. His minor (in terms of sales not content) albums would be pinnacles of success to most musicians.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, I cannot wait until you react to Into the Mystic. And you did it again, I have to go on a little Van Morrison mini concert now. But yes, Into the Mystic first and we will add more
My absolute favorite artist!! Van Morrison moves me like no other. He is such a versatile musician with everything from jazz, blues, soul, folk, adult contemporary, funk, country, gospel, traditional Irish, etc. His catalog is extensive and really has something for anyone. Truly a legendary song writer! 😎👍
Van Morrison has a bunch of great songs. I could tell that this song really touched you by the emotion in your facial expressions. I thought at one point you were going to tear up.
Van Morrison is one of my favorite artists. I'm glad you enjoyed him. I think that your next Van Morrison song has to be "Moondance". It too is a beautiful relaxing song, and it has a jazzy instrumental section about halfway through it. He has lots of great songs though. If you want to hear one that's a little more rocking, "Wild Night" is a great one. His 2 best-known songs are "Brown-Eyed Girl" and "Domino".
When my daughter got married in 2019 this was the song she and her husband had their first dance to. I must have played a lot of van as she was growing up.
Van Morrison is one of the most brilliant artists of the last century. His voice and style are unique. He was born in Ireland in the late 40's. His dad dug Jazz and Blues. As a young boy Van listened to all off the great Jazz, Blues, Folk, and Traditional Irish artists. His music fused each of these styles and combined it with his own unique instincts. He wrote and composed his own music. When he did covers he transformed them into unique works of art.. He his lyrics are poetic. He's a master musician. Plays sax, keyboards, and strings. If you're going to listen to more of his stuff go deep. The popular songs like Brown Eyed Woman and Moondance are nice but he hated them. To Van they were pop songs he had to write to satisfy his record producers. His real gems are songs most never heard of. They're brilliant.
Van Morrison has sssssoooooo much great music. A few of my favorites: “Days Like This”, Brown Eyed Girl”, “Warm Love”, “ Moondance”, & on & on. His music has that laid back jazzy touch that you can just sit back and get lost in. Beautiful.
and van morrison's catalog is such a wealth to mine. from the sweet rock'n'roll of "brown-eyed girl" to the soulful "jackie wilson said" to the lovesong "moondance" to the promise of "wild night (is calling)" -- you can't go wrong.
I like where he says "knights in armor, intent on chivalry". Someone who realized that men treating women with grace, compassion, and respect (i.e. chivalry) is not a dead concept.
So glad you listened to more Van...do more..you can't go wrong.....I love Crazy Face...Virgio Clown...Just One Kiss....telling you can't go wrong...Irish Soul baby.
Got to watch "Van the Man" in Reno, Nevada years ago. He played for 90 minutes.. He did not engage with the audience with small talk, or jokes, or any other form of conversation......he just sang. He brought 13 musicians to perform with him and the music was subperb. When he was done, he walked off stage.........no encore, no other numbers after the act. No interaction with the audience in Reno at all, just pure music. I was a very disappointed that there was no audience engagement, but on the other hand I got to listen to him in person for an hour and a half and he is a talented musician that cannot be denied. He is my favorite artist and it is hard to deny his decades of musical impact
Van Morrison is a complete musician. when he sings he lets his heart speak, and when he plays he reveals his soul. Whoever listens to it once will listen to it forever.
Mrs. Ward here. This man's music is probably the best you may ever find. He's been singing since the early 60s. Love everything he does, and some of his music is designated for my funeral. I hope you get into him. It's worth it. He started out with a band called Them.
Van the Man is everything! So many great songs...Queen of the Slipstream, Caravan, Bright Side of the Road, Into the Mystic, Domino, Redwood Tree and I could go on and on. I would love to see you react to more of his songs!
Van Morrison is a legendary performer who became popular around the late 60’s and till the late 1970’s. So many great tunes to listen to.Moon Dance was his biggest hit.
One of the best songs of all time -- beautifully sung, arranged and produced. Van The Man is a genius who can write and sing any style. Try Moondance, The Bright Side Of The Road, Saint Domenic's Preview and on and on
Love watching your reactions. You have the ability to cut thru the genre to the iner most emotions. Well done. Vans inspiration in Ireland growing up was always the great Ray Charles. You can hear it in his heart, soul and voice. He also is multi faceted in his lyrics. "You can take all the tea in China" is an old European saying much like our " Not for all the gold in Fort Knox". Also Tupelo honey is a reference and homage to the birth place of Elvis Presley, Tupelo Mississippi. Keep up your fun and good work.

I loved this song when it first came out, it was the first time I ever really remember hearing Van Morrison. I love this song and I really love his voice, there is none other like either one.
Sir George Ivan "Van" Morrison OBE (OBE is some kind of British award for excellence) is 74 yrs old and still performing. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert in the late 1990s at The Orpheum Theater. I’ve never seen a better concert. He rocked for a good 3 hrs solid! There was a 30 min intermission.
hello, I just discovered your channel, first song I see you reacting too is Van! ha..I like you already, I've been listening to Van most of my life and I am 62 years of age...you can't go wrong with Van. this Man just turned 75!
There is SO much Van Morrison to which you should listen. Some of my favorites are "Queen of the Slipstream," "Moondance," "Someone Like You,"Sweet Thing" and so many more.
The Irish BARD! Pure genius - you can't go wrong here.

Van Morrison 's album " Astral Weeks" is a masterpiece.

@Khalid Cabrero.....Exactly......I hit play and listen to the entire album.
Bring it on. Van Morrison is one of the greats ever since the 1950's. Jazz, rock, blues, and R&B and still underrated!
He was actually awarded the OBE which is some type of British excellency award. Plus, he has been knighted so he is a Sir now. Sir George Ivan
You’re gonna LOVE “Moondance” by him.
"Moondance" by Van Morrison is one of my all time favorites.
'Jackie Wilson Says', 'Brown Eyed Girl', 'St Dominic's Preview', too much great stuff from Van to mention. She should do some Them to see where Van got his start.

Always reminds me of "that" scene in An American Werewolf in London. Great song.
