Rob: "Shows everything."
Rotory guru's around the globe: "You weren't supposed to do that."
They have only themselves to blame. There was an era when these engines were unfairly accused by morons and shills, the "gurus" should've come forth, just like Dahm's doing. What did they do? They sat back and ate it. So they can keep doing just that.
pac performance has done bigger and shows everything that goes into the down fall of this style quad rotor and have the answers to fix it with true full billet plates, housings and rotors
Seems like I saw Promaz assembling a billet 4 rotor with center bearings somewhere on RUclips ...
On one hand, I respect the fuck out of him for doing this. On the other hand, I'm sad because I know lesser powers will probably use this knowledge selfishly rather than be as generous and caring for the rotary community as Rob is.
I see the dorito mafia is going to arrange an unfortunate accident..
When they took the engine apart piece by piece it felt like a national geographic episode. Really calming lol
All it needed was David Attenborough narrating it 😂
Totally agreed! Felt the same
Can't believe this ridiculously awesome content is free! Love this shit!
Didn't think to see you here but then again it's all about the rotary engines baby.
Road kill was such a sell out to discovery. They missed the RUclips boom and are not even relevant anymore on a paid subscription service.
@@stevenplaskett7728 where did road kill come from did someone delete a comment they wrote ?
Ha your hear and I was just going to see if you had posted a video to watch now just watched rob small world lol
Ahura RC soon!
This is why i have my autographed rob dahm shirt on my wall, to remind me he never lets anything stop the dream from coming to fruition.
still haven't gotten mine ;-;
Shit ordered mine in October still haven’t gotten it
I've got 2 of the 1240, and I wear both! One for in the shop, one for on the couch lol
Really? I find he does everything to stop his dream from coming to fruition by never finishing a project like you raced Ken Block 3 times and got smoked, and maybe that wouldn't had been the case had Rob actually finished this build that's going past 5 years now just collecting Ad Revenue over and over like you got 6 projects Rob Dahm, finish 1 or 2 at a time but not 6. Can't believe that this RX-7 still has no floor/transmission tunnel, everything its missing is just ridiculous this was supposed to be done like at the end of 2019 I remember you promising us you'd be done, how longs it gonna continue it is fuckin 2021 and still lmfaoo...... just collecting as much Ad Revenue
@@r4ng3k03r1 you don’t have to watch him then. but damn you’re salty and ignorant as fuck for this lmao. Rob was quite literally doing it all himself. Out of his own pocket for years. He finally got advertisement revenue and a team to help him this year, after YEARS of trying to get exposure. and even if it took him 5 years he still did it. More than you can ever say you did.
I seriously hope your AWD RX7 gets added to a racing game like Forza Horizon 4, The Crew 2, etc (if that'll ever happen)
Oh it will. it has to. it’s legendary. We the people have to make that happen
Maybe fh5 once it gets the carbon body
I've wanted this car in a game like assetto corsa or something so I can drive it myself.
This is how my oil looks after Ken. That sounds so wrong hahahahaha
@@stevebell5231 lol
Just make sure UPS doesn’t handle shipping for the next rotary!
I just sent my drug stash before police came at my house by UPS, no need to worry about getting caught :)
Rob, Thank you! It is refreshing to see someone be able to " put the ego aside" and just say what it is good or bad. Always love your content!
Crazy how small that engine is yet makes so much power
Glad to see your doing well, I asked you professional advice about careers a few years and you wrote me back. I’m now in a job that pays 3 times as much and happy, I got my turbo Miata completely done and absolutely perfect, thanks for the help.
What did you ask him though? Im curious now, lol
I knew the engine would be perfectly fine, just like Mazda's 4 rotor in the 787b. People don't understand the true potential of rotaries and are instantly turned off by their "unreliability". I'm glad there are people like Rob Dahm so I can refer them to him.
"Theres no secrets this time..." ..10 seconds later, Rob is giving us a look at his toilet...
Nothing but 100% transparency. Down to the pants.
Just forgot a 20 min explanation on how it flushes
JP Performance: Write that down! Write that down!
wait did i miss something ?
@@val3ball Jp Performance is a german car youtuber and he now also builds a rx7, which is his first rotary

I just wanna see Rob beat on this 4 Rotor and get excited about it 🔥
Agree I want to see it just drive. Like highway driving and pulls.
@@t1bud42 rob is always doing thing behind the scenes so I know it will come
Love the diablo taking up two spots like a proper lambo driver
I live vicariously through Rob. So awesome to see the ground he’s breaking.
When is that 6 rotor coming around again? Really want to see that, very interesting.😎✌️
As if 4 wasn’t enough😂
He only has the shaft, needs a while to get all the pieces
I wonder how a 6 rotor will sound
@@kessler0815 probably like the cannon in a warthog
@@kessler0815 there are a couple running ones, best is the one in NZ (that shop afaik has made every running 6-rotor E-shaft in existence). There are a few clips of it running and driving, it sounds like a monster
This man takes "built not bought" to an insane amount
Love the variety of your builds and "Gung Ho, I'll do it/ figure it out myself" attitude you adopted after dealing with too many shops. It would be cool to see you do a full peripheral ported engine with a Dahm built and engineered CNC'd intake manifold. I just saw the one from Pro-Jay for 13b and its looks like a piece of art.
Rob saying "THIS IS THE SECRET SAUCE"
My ass clicking on the video to see if it ends there
Rob I can't trust you man 🥺
That is one badass 3-stroke engine! Rotaries are off the scale simple engines.......that one has 5 major moving parts(4 rotors and an eccentric shaft). Love it, keep the content coming!
Watching you tear down that 4 rotor was like watching Boss Ross. Such a beautiful engine.
Well done on the Valvoline plug, you're a natural!
Most kids dream is to be in the hall of fame, I dream to be rob dahm
Who wants to be in the HoF? 💀
Excuse me uhhhhh but have you tried cooking?
The fact that you care for that cat is the best part! All the love from Germany my man!
the rx7 brings a smile to my face through a video. not many cars do that. in person must be insane
Never seen one in person?
rotaries have that effect, I love my RX8.
Just want to say thank you to Rob Dahm for the content and inspiration.
He got me into rotaries, just got my first fd3s!!
Needs a lot of work, but she's definitely worth it and I'm lovin every second.
As far as I'm concerned this is the coolest damn car on the planet.
Very quickly turning into the best RUclips channel. Keep up with updates Rob. I am soo stoked for the second generation of this beast.
Anyone else hearing the cameraman breathe?😂😂😂
It's the beard guy
Yes it’s terribly annoying!
@@ers3889 Not enough to make this video not deserve a good like.
8:40 theres a caption from the editor
I really want Rob to do a video called, "So you picked up your first rotary," and he goes into detail on what you can do(short of opening the motor unless necessary) to get the most reliability out of it.
14:13 "Can I make this claim?"
Loving this content!
It's pretty amazing how pristine the insides were after all that abuse, and I think it dispels a lot of myths about reliability once enough people see this video (and others like it).
Keep doing the detailed teardowns and buildups, I'm learning something new every time
I'm really excited about the 8 wheel Vargas rebuild
I was worried for a bit there. I hadn't seen a video in a while, and history has shown that when Rob Dahm doesn't post for a while, something's definitely wrong. Glad to see you back!
This engine is so insane! I fucking love it!
@20:56 Nice, very nice. Thanks for sharing with us Car people, whether rotary or non-rotary The content n knowledge is what is key here & I'm sure not just me but we truly appreciate it. 👌
Ayyyy dios mio. Daddy Dahm blessing us with some EarGasms
🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Got my little piece of the 4 rotor with my shirts today so excited I was lucky enough to get some. Full jar of oil with about 6 shards of windshield. Can’t wait to she what comes next the Ahura.
Rob the 🐱 whisperer 😂 good job on being a humanitarian 🤟🏻
Damn you gave us all the sauce today. Congrats I've been waiting a long time for this build to be Race Ready. Its really in a league of its own
When archeologists look back on the ICE age, the rotary will be sort of like the dinosaurs that were starting to sprout feathers -- going in the right direction, but not quite there yet. My mind was blown years ago, by the way.
The most work I've ever done on an auto engine was switching out the engine from a totalled Samurai to one with blow out piston heads. Both before and after that experience I have only ever changed oil.
I tell you this to impress upon you-I did not expect to watch this video through. But I did.
Really, inexplicably fascinating.
I'd love to see this Whoop the Crap out of the HOONICORN V2 Car!
All it takes is more driver knowledge and reliability testing...
They ran against him and said “ok that’s enough of that, too close to losing, time to only race half the power from here on out!”
If he could get the power under control. You gotta understand those other cars are very refined and probably a few hundred thousand dollars invested. It's a finished body of work....robs is like barely to halfway....get off his back people
Can't hide the rotary Fart in a milo can sound 🤣🤣 ,love the series 6 rx7 look from day 1🔥🔥 mazda nearly killed itself with the rx8 decision-making 🤦
New to the understanding of rotary engines. SO AWSOME, THIS IS IMPRESSIVE! IM WATCHING YOU GUYS ARE DOING!! VERY MOTIVATED TO GET UP AND CREATE SOMETHING!! 👍🏼
18:16 see! late night anime does make you stronger.
if you mill through the ends of the dowel passages on very end plates and add a bung. you can assemble with short dowels, remove the bung then knock in a full length one piece dowel . you have to add a spigot spike into the centre of your bungs to keep the dowel from moving forwards and back . its a techinque found in some very early billet plates and takes hours off the assembly time for long dowels
Drinking game: take a shot everytime Rob makes a phalic reference
Might not be able to finish the video...
@@rya3190 not likely
Thanks to people like Rob, the 4 rotor will start showing up more...was like the days when they finally made good seals for rotaries suddenly they become a usable thing again.
If we all dreamed like Rob the world would be an interesting place.
Also like some of the secret sauce its a reason dirt bike clutches now have bearing when they used to just sit on a shaft :)
2:40 this is the first time the motors been out..........Since the last time it was out. ;-)
Your camera is such good quality that even when I have the video at a low quality, it still shows pretty clear
Me this entire video: Did I leave the water on somewhere???
Even. More. Power. This dude is building a rocketship with wheels.
That clip at the beginning is priceless!
Thats so cool with all the ball bearings!! never really thought that they could have such a lkargew impact on a build!
The camera man is doing some pretty intense breathing lol
9:48 I really appreciate the *slam* and the *Slam Slam* edits. Very funny. I hate when I’m editing audio and those little things happen.
Am I crazy, or did Rob just call a _NEEDLE BEARING_ a Ball Bearing?
Absolutely one of the most beautiful car designs ever
all imma say is rotorykhana😬🔥
Such a simple and effective design. Incredible.
He "doesn't need to sell the oil to anyone" yet has a 3+ minute commercial in the middle of the video.
Its crazy how its finally done. No more worries (for the most part, it is a rotary afterall). Fantastic progress, a crucial step in making it faster is releasing those khaki hoodies again though.
I find it funny that that’s the biggest socket he has seen
😂😂😂
Every time I see that big arse 54mm socket (or the flywheel-nut) in my toolbox it brings back some awesome FC memories. Wish I still had that car.
That's pure porn Rob! Thanks for sharing this with the world, can't wait for the next chapter!
It is porn, hence the sperm comments
i love how clean everything is looking under the hood
Says 10 secound ago I'm here early 🤣
This only got a thumbs up for that ridiculous smile on robs face during the opening slow mo. Cheers man.
4:33 did you guys hear what he said?
THAT LAUGH AT 1:27 😂😂😂😂😂
Who is the guy building the engine?
I always thought Rob had way more subscribers. Thanks for the video brother and keep up the fine work!
How we make 1400+ HP with a Rotary Engine.
1. A LOT of money
With settlement money from UPS or was that FED EX for losing the part. then someone steals out of car and tries to sell on craistlist or marketplace.
2:19
Rob: We got more torque than I thought
American Muscle enthusiasts: *sweating profusely*
That looked like a roller bearing why he call it a ball bearing
Nice progress!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 looking forward to Ahura phase II
You have a 2, 3, 4 and 6 rotor engine. You only need a 1 rotor engine
5 rotor
@@MiGujack3 I think that is impossible to balance a 5 rotor.
@@mysteryguy7716 Not with that attitude
Great video Rob! REally respect your desire to be open and not keep secrets. Our community needs more like you. Cheers :)
Congrats to Everyone Who is early and who found this comment”. 💙
Nah
Lol
I’m so happy you take care of the kitties!!! You’re a good dude Rob
Sooo excited for the C8 build!
Rob, burning a little oil does not hurt in a valve 4 stroke, helps keep the intake valves lubricated, through crankcase breathing.
Now that you have a CNC one key thing for you should be a set of unified pullers and pushers (the engine's toolkit if you want) that's married to all the dowels, pins, rods inside that engine. That way, you don't have to use pliers or pullers or whatever. You just have handles and other such things. And it's super easy to make that kind of stuff, so why not make it.
Robb Dahm AKA D.B. Cooperdahm back at us with another one from the tales of D.B. Dahm RUclips most infamous Rotary power maken legend or atlases thats how the vloging legends Go 👏
I legit open RUclips and your video starts playing I wish that would happen every time
Just received my hoodie and firing on all rotors shirt and in the middle of those two things was sitting the oil from your 4 rotor I legit jumped up and down because I ordered mine December 14th 😂. I was like I hope the wait includes the oil.
Rob nice rotary. Since you're going to rebuild it you should modify the rotor housings to solve one of the major flaws in rotary engines. The loss of compression through the primary spark plug hole. Weld some material into the hole and make it into a slot thats no wider than the apex seal, then get some custom plugs that when installed they line up with the slots. You would be surprised how much compression is lost through that opening especially at boost or how much cxhaust contamination you have depending on port timing. You would probably have a substantial hp gain just from that modification. If there is a problem with ignition, I haveca cure for that as well from my years of working on rotories from 1976-1986. Lost count on how many I built over those years but my guess would be several hundred. Good luck. I still think the one piece carbon apex seals were a good design. In all of the motors I built and raced, I only had one fail, but saw many two piece fail.
Rebuild, tare it down, repeat until you create perfection, Rob! "MO'POW'A'BABY!!!!"
I love Rob Dahm for his awesome job and his team❤️❤️
Dahm Rotary Racing, DRR.
Dahm Rotary Performance, DRP.
I like the sound of that.
Fuel Tech “Dash/ECU/Telemetry/ Data Logger is so bad ass and compact🦾😎🤘🏽🚀 its great to see them finally on the street.
AWESOME BRO!!
You should check out Papadakis tearing down an engine for some OCD inspiration and cleanliness!
Love your content Rob. Can't wait for more. 4 rotor C8, and the 6 rotor.
I wish the six rotor was going into the c8
There's a meme online of a valve from a piston engine stuck in the side of a rotor. This image has haunted me all throughout this video. 😂😂😂
Good to see you wearing the correct hoodie now!
Amen to that. I use valvoline vr1 in my track car myself
Hey Rob, I cant wait for that rematch with the Hoonicorn =) Im getting hyped just thinking about it.
I doubt they’ll rematch him, he came too close for comfort 😆
Now that Rob feels more comfortable with the cars drive train functions it’s time to do the body and get to race Mazzi 4 rotor 💪🏻... stay blessed man this what making dreams come true looks like. Hard word and dedication
Mazzei's rx7 is fucken sick! One of my favorite cars ever 👍
Made it before the spam by far one of my fav builds on youtube
I had forgotten how badass that oil pan was.
