    7 Days to Die is a survival horror video game set in a post-apocalyptic world where players must scavenge for resources, build shelters, and defend themselves against hordes of zombies. The game takes place in a randomly generated world and features a day-night cycle, with the zombies becoming more aggressive and difficult to deal with at night.
    Players must also manage their hunger and thirst levels, as well as avoid other environmental hazards such as extreme temperatures and wildlife. The game can be played alone or with others in multiplayer mode. It was developed by The Fun Pimps and released in 2013 for Microsoft Windows and later for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Linux.

      While I don't think traders need to breathe, you also didn't factor in that the player doesn't immediately start drowning when submerged underwater either. So you wouldn't know if he loses health until your O2 countdown reaches zero, and i think there is a perk that makes you hold your breath longer too.?? or maybe there was and it was taken out

    What about using rain catchers in DF? No Trader protection so you could build a smaller wall just around the trader and then the rain catchers would eventually fil it up. Plus, I have wanted a waterworld mod for the past year. You would have to model in a jet ski but think of the fun of a submerged city (not completely, just the top 4 above ground blocks, think Winterween but water).

    • @CautiousPancake

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah filling it will be the challenge as the water doesn't flow in a river or even downhill, it just sits where it's dropped mostly. So you can't build up a huge body of water easily or create a lake with a dam. Would be awesome if you could!

  • @Oktokolo
    @Oktokolo 6 месяцев назад

    Speaking of practical things - can you actually fill a moat by diverting a stream or creating a canal to the coast?

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  6 месяцев назад

      You can! There's a limit to distance, depending on how deep you've gone into the lake/river/ocean, which you can increase a bit by digging the moat a block deeper (usually).

    • @Oktokolo
      @Oktokolo 6 месяцев назад

      @@CautiousPancake I tried a few months ago and was pretty disappointed by the water flow. I hoped you would know some exploits that allow for further spread and higher flow. Because when i tested it the conclusion was to have to build sortof right next to the body of water that i want to tap. And at that point i could just build right in the lake in the first place...
      7D2D needs some proper large-scale water flow physics approcimations and i would be fine if it would just update every ingame hour or so.
      I also never found a way to reliably alter sub-block water levels - was always half block high and increasing by full blocks. I wish thex give water some real love. It's basically irrelavant for the core gameplay loop but it adds so much flavor...

  • @gimmiemyfuckingname
    @gimmiemyfuckingname 5 месяцев назад

    I'm trying to fill a simple moat around my base, maybe its because I'm using actual buckets instead of creative blocks, but It won't get any deeper than half a block :(

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  5 месяцев назад

      I don't *think* that would matter (using buckets), you'll have to cover off the full moat to one block though before it goes to two. I'll try and test it later on a small scale though!

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  5 месяцев назад +1

      So tested and yes it does work, however it feels weird, in that after you've filled your moat to 1 block high all the way around, you then use as many or more buckets again, I'd guess at almost twice as many to then get it to start filling the second level. It does eventually do it though.
      From memory the same happens to level 3 but worse. So it's doable but a painful slog.

    • @gimmiemyfuckingname
      @gimmiemyfuckingname 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the time and effort! eventually it worked for me as well, although I ended up giving up and coming back the next day when my friend was on, I would say it was well over 10x what it took for the first layer, and it was my friend who finally got it to start filling again so I'm still thinking there may have been a bug involved the first day, who knows. But thanks again!

  • @tigrecito48
    @tigrecito48 6 месяцев назад

    ive been very worried since alpha 21 about building in or near water... cos now when you place frames to fill in an area full of water and then remove them the water comes back again even if you had zero water inside... i used to build bases in water or under the ground under oceans in multiplayer to be less easily found.. but its so dangerous now, cos all your efforts could be wasted if you accidentally hit water while underground... or if someone tries raiding you and breaks thru.. one good thing i guess is the raiders would probably drown trying to get your loot.. but you also wouldnt be able to get it.. is there a way around it? i wish they'd allow us to build in water again... i like the new physics but dont see why we cant be allowed to empy out the water if the base is perfectly sealed

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  6 месяцев назад +1

      Agree it's a big risk! Only way I've seen to "reclaim" a water filled block is via sheets, but that then means you can't build on it. But you can dig down into bedrock from water once you've cleared the water using this technique (see my underwater base if you want to know more) - it's risky though should you get breached like you say!

    • @tigrecito48
      @tigrecito48 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@CautiousPancake sheets are really weak as well so if anything attacks it ur screwed.. the main problem is every alp0ha they make the ground depth fewer & fewer blocks.. i used to build bases 50+ blocks out to sea so i can avoid horde nights (which no longer works in alpha 21) but often at bedrock, that far out there are now only 3-5 blocks of stone & soil before you get to water.. so it would be extremely risky to be doing that... its also a good way to avoid players finding ur base cos almost no one goes swimming out to sea so no one will hear your forges etc

    • @CautiousPancake

      @tigrecito48 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@CautiousPancake you mean the edge of the map? on multiplayer you have to do all u can to avoid being raided.. trying to hide... so its better to be far away.. the people who get raided most are the ones near traders & towns... have you ever thought of doing a playthru that is a WATERWORLD? i think it could be kinda cool.. if you could get some way to flood the entire map... u'd have to go into iron gut asap.. no guns working under water... struggling to get into poi's without running out of air... it would work good if there were already mods out there that add water stuff.. like water vehicles, maybe clothes to swim faster or extend air time under water.. if u didnt want it too deep you could make the map entirely flat rather than mountainous.. or just a few peaks... just have the water mostly cover the tops of buildings.. would make it even tougher for horde nights etc.. also since zombies spawn in now in water areas.. would be kinda like doing 7 days to die sunkenland
