I would say the snow package would be the farmers choice for that size tractor. Elec hookups for planters, sprayers, spreaders and hay equipment, extra hydraulics in the rear, preset levels on the 3pt for turning at the ends of fields or from field to field road use, and mounting locations for the screens to run them. Such a great thing not having to try and add them in later on.
Great video and had a great time yesterday talking to my local dealer about the power of the 1series and was amazing when he brought up you guys with Johny x
My dream machine would be a 3052R. I moved up from a 3520 to a 4052R last year, mainly for the improved pto power (I didn’t feel like a 3046 really made enough difference at the pto for my use.) but would happily go back to a 3 series for the smaller, more maneuverable frame size. The extra power has been great, but sometimes the 4052 is just a bit big physically for what I need, and I have to work around it.
The knob on the left under that cover on the 3pt hitch actually sets the quick return height limit. Keeps you from crashing certain configurations of hoses, implements ect into parts of the machine. Ask me how I know. Haha. Really bummed they didn't put a Class 2 on this machine. Wonder if it can be dealer ordered as an option in a custom build.
I hate to be that guy because I prefer green over orange but in my opinion the Kubota Grand L cab is nicer. It’s bigger than JD and you can circulate the air inside the cab which you cannot do on the John Deere. The John Deere is always pulling dirty hot air from outside for the AC. Am I wrong Tim?

The top is 48 inches off the ground, and the 440r will not budge them. Our prior tractor with less FEL specs picked them up quickly. TTWT License plate might actually be a good piece of merchandise for the channel honestly. Pretty nice QOL feature set on these new tractors. Enjoyed seeing some of these features make it on sub-compacts! Happy Memorial Day!
Seeing a 4066R and a 5055E side by side- with very similar equipment (cab, loader ready package, etc), really drove home the difference between the 2. They are similar in size, but TOTALLY different animals. The 4's are compact utility's, the 5's are Utility's. The 5E is much beefier, and set up to work. Few bells and whistles, just the stuff you need. Also, the cab is roomier. I'd say, that 5055E is just the modern version of the small loader tractor, or Mowing etc tractor found on every small and med farm ever. For a livestock farm, it's your daily driver chore tractor that also cuts and rakes hay, mows fencelines, runs augers, moves things around, and whatever else you need done that doesn't require lots of grunt or a 1000 rpm pto. (and doesn't guzzle as much fuel as those bigger tractors, either) The 4R series is more for homeowners, stables, landscaping outfits, etc. Esp Folks with less experience and who appreciate the extra creature comforts, like a hydrostat trans, Remote hitch controls, etc. They likely have less need for the extra beef and ruggedness of a full utility as well. Interesting, that they now make a 75hp version. I hadn't thought about the snow removal gig. Looks like a nice machine, tho- esp that beefy front axle! I THINK the 5075E MAY be part of the larger frame series of the 5's, but don't quote me on that. That would make for even more differences between a 4075R and a 5075E.
From a google search: What is black nitride coating? Black nitride is an extremely durable finish that is achieved via the QPQ method of "quench polish quench." This process leaves the material a dull black finish with excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance. This process can only be done to steel components. It's also used on many firearm parts.
Holy smokes Tim !! Finally a right hand door shock !! Way to go Bolton hooks !!!!! Got mine ordered waiting for it to be shipped. Shipping was a little high at $20 bucks for such a small little box !! Tim, it's OK to harass John Deere about simple little items like this !! It would make the tractor so much nicer and easier to work with and Kenton is right I'm the same I use that right hand door constantly to reach in and mess with my three point up-and-down on my 3R series the loader leaks down all the time, so I have to reach in and lift the loader back up if I'm using my grapple to hold the logs up off the ground for cutting up firewood !! And I think everybody gave John Deere crap about a 20 or 30 year old Jensen radio that they were STILL putting in brand new machines ! Not only NO BLUE TOOTH but they were still charging $500 for a $50 radio More features that they should've added why not a self leveling loader, on the 3R series Yes, you can get it on the 4 series I know, and the 2 series and the 1 series why not the 3R series ??? So again, every series, except for 3 Just the same 320R loader nothing new !! I actually looked in to adding a electric hydraulic valve that splits the flow from the lift, and the tilt at the same time to make it, a self leveling loader through the hydraulics !! I actually spoke with someone at Summit hydraulics about this because Kubota uses it Bobcat uses it, and the fact that you can make it a self leveling loader from just switching a switch in the cab is so cool or if you just want to use it as the regular lift and tilt Flip the switch off ! Kubota definitely has much better features and better hydraulics then John Deere by far ! ( NO LEAK DOWN ) And John Deere knows it ! I think more people need to complain so they will actually come up with maybe a kit that you can add to your existing machine. The guy at Summit hydraulics was going to look into just that I told him it would be a great seller for them, whether they take the advice from an old farmer,we will have to wait and see ? Well everything's all about money if it'll fill their bank accounts they might do it and the guys at Bolton hooks are almost sold out of the right hand door shock upgrade. Kenton had me rolling about the rear windshield wiper ! It only moves about 9 inches !! Lol Oh sure any cab will cost close to $12,000 you think they would have illuminated controls for nighttime use, including the heat and air conditioning and what about intermittent wipers ? As soon as you get out of the 3 and 4 series compact, cheap cabs, you get everything much better
I am one of those people that to much technology scares me. Got to have key on to lower 3 point, everything is electronically controlled, one little malfunction will stop tractor. I am only a simple homeowner that will keep my mechanical old school compact tractor. You 2 were great in this video, good job guys. Keep videos coming.
I have that rear wiper as it was the optional kit. For snow it's a win keeping the window clear to see the snow blower. Did you notice they moved the antenna?
Great video Tim! What an awesome machine I can’t wait to see your upcoming videos with it. John Deere is absolute quality and this tractor is a fine example and such they are charging a premium price for it. The three point control is awesome, those electric over hydraulic 3 point hitch controls were pioneered in the very first 7000 and 8000 series tractors. Something new then but now almost 30 years old and proven tech. My main gripes on that machine and the price point is, the rear wiper only seems to cover the window mainly over your right shoulder which is understandable but I think they could have made it cover the entire window edge to edge, and I don’t bunk bragging about a return to home wiper isn’t something I would mention as an improvement, kind of embarrassing it hasn’t been like that for a while, my 38k Massey has return to home wipers lol. Also for a machine of this size that will see large commercial and municipal use when is Deere going to go to ground level fueling like their larger machines and much of the competition. It will be interesting to see if this new model and price justifies its existence for another 8 PTO HP over the 4066R. Deere has also kept the rating on the 3pt hitch 24” back at 2500lbs which is very low in comparison to competitors. Just my .02 as always! Best of luck to you in the new machine can’t wait to see you putting it to the test.
Cat 1 or Cat 2 should be an option. That's what I would expect, sad to hear it's not. One thing I've noticed about Deere in the last 30 years, they do great things, just fall short of going that last little bit.
On the 4075r, did they upgrade the steering system which sometimes struggles on a 4066r under heavy load. Like a better pump, bigger steering cylinder, bigger hydraulic hoses going to steering cylinder???
@@TractorTimewithTim darn, having it switched would be super handy, my 3pt sprayer turns on when power is applied, in this case you would have to wire in a remote switch of some kind
Hey Tim, how does the engine compartment look for the DIY mechanic doing routine maintenance? ease of filter location, access to engine bay etc? One pain about my NH T4.75 is oil/fuel filter locations. you pretty much need to change them all at the same time due to location.
i know you have the bucket up all the way, and not under it but i cant see if it has the drop down arm on the cylinder like big loaders do usually pinned up out of the way😎
Interesting about the CAN Bus connector and the 30-amp power in the rear. In addition to being able to diagnose the tractor, it also opens the possibility that Deere will have intelligent implements in the future.
So I just got a 4066R last year only 35 hours and would really liked to have the larger hp with the hydrostatic transmission. It did take 8 months to get the the tractor delivered bc of all sorts of excuses from dealer but I did get everything I could get essentially except 540e PTO. I have many questions but I checked the JD website and the PTO hp is the same as 4066 at 51.9? or maybe just incorrect information but it seems that the PTO was not upgraded any to match a higher hp engine. I do LOVE my 4066R even though if I had waited 12 months I would have ordered a 4075R if the PTO was larger bc the cutoff point for most attachments that are used traditionally with the 5 series or greater have a minimum of 55 hp such as bailing equipment etc. There is enough weight to counter balance with fluid in rear tires and wheel weights to match the pulling requirements and tongue weight etc. The idea of LED lighting is great as also was not an option from OEM at the time. The 3 point upgrades are absolutely worth it I would believe from my very limited experience - hitch assist and electro hydraulic control from the cab. It seems that if possible JD should be doing more with series 4 and 5 to make even more user friendly for folks who would like the greater hp and capabilities with the ease of use of the transmission options and PTO amongst many more upgrades/options bc if you are spending $100,000 on a tractor and attachments they should really do all the work for you. But I agree with others who state the cab is as comfortable as a car and handles just about as easy.
I think it is a titanium dioxide (tio) coating or titanium nitride (tin) coating? I think they have improved friction and corrosion properties. Its been at least 15 years since I learned about the stuff.
Love it ... ! Just for completeness : My 2018 2036R (Europe) does already have CAN bus, it's hidden in the service connector (standard J1939 type) located right inside the panel of the steering column (below the thottle lever) on the board between engine and operator side. You'll see better from the engine side (rear side of the connector) green (CAN-L) and yellow (CAN-H) lines are CAN bus. I guess it's similar to any model starting with 2R series - hidden but there. Can't talk for others than my 2036R but on that 2036R it's connecting all the stuff together, instrument cluster, engine control, mower deck control, ... I guess it's hidden because CAN bus do need termination on the data lines.
It is a Black Nitriding ,Advantage is better lubricity and deeper hardness. Much better resistance to impact damage and it will not flake off like chrome can.
Same. I suspect you have a cab seal leaking. Take the lid off, and begin diagnosing. Also, I found lots of junk plugging the evaporator coils. Worth it to take the top off and look into it.
@Tractor Time with Tim I've done that three times. It's a 2006 model and I've been told that it's a small air conditioning system for all the glass. My new Gator is awesome so I was just checking to see if any improvements were made over the years to function like the larger units
I do not know. I am experimenting with my 3520. Have you tinted your windows? Insulated your cab top? Tried to restrict outside intake (to force more recirculation)?
One guy said that the separation deal between cold and warm section of cab roof was what improved his the most. He said that seal was bad, and was allowing cold air to flow into the center of cab roof, losing it, rather than forcing it into cab. Neighbor Chris and I are experimenting with direct duct work rather than general cab opening to see if that helps control/direct the flow.
Is there a outside speaker the operator could install/use like a cb inside the cab to “bark orders” 😂without having to keep opening the doors or even get someone’s quick attention or the like?
Thanks so much Don! I’m so glad, and encouraged that you enjoy my craziness. It is a lot of fun “working” (and it’s certainly not work for me) with Tim and Christy.
Curious Tim ... If I may ask ... I went and test drove a 3039R w/ cab and found the loader control stick to be quite 'stiff' to move, especially to the left and right (bucket curl and dump). I could not keep my arm on the arm rest and use the loader stick, especially left and right movements. Perhaps, I just need to lift some weights (and less cheeseburgers) ;-) Could you please let me know if the loader control stick is easy, or is it a bit hard to move in both the 3R and 4R tractors? I found the non-cab version much easier to move. Someone had told me the cab model uses cables to connect the loader control handle to the valves below it; this may be contributing to the difference between the cab and non-cab models. Please let me know the 'difficulty' if any, in moving the loader control handle; in the 3R and 4R tractors (cab version). One dealer told me it 'may' be a 'gets easier over time with use' thing.?.? Thanks!
@@TractorTimewithTim Thanks Tim! That's too bad as I was really liking the 3R cab model in terms of size and power. The 4R may be too big for my property, needs, etc, but I'll have another look just to make sure.
Friends talked me into buying an RK55, which was a terrible mistake. I have owned a 4320 for 9 years and an NX6010 for 3 years with no issues. My 2024 4075r that I ordered is doing close to an 1800-mile trip but should be here in 3 weeks.
Great improvements. I'll buy a new one when they come out with electric over hydraulic joystick control. The cable linkage works well but is a bit stiff
The 30 amp rear power connector you mentioned, is it switched from inside the cab or just contuous? I would love to know as I just received a 4066R cab tractor and this was not mentioned to me by my dealer. Thank you in advance Ray
The quick attach should be standard...Most cheap and off brands come standard with the quick attach. Thanks for the videos and you and your family have a great memorial weekend.
My understanding on the black cylinder rods is that the black coating is more rust resistant than chrome. Since many compact/sub-compact tractors do not get used often, pitting and rust on the chrome rods is an issue. Chrome is fine for machines used regularly because the rods get a coating of hydraulic fluid when they are retracted. On my excavator with chrome rods, the user manual says that if the machine is to be stored for a length of time ( over a month, IIRC), to fully retract all rods, if possible.
@@lebraun12345 Probably could handle 2x3 and 3x3 LSBs, 3x4 and 4x4 would depend on densities and lengths (ie weight) For making it, would work great IMO on small squares and 4x5 round balers and all of the prep equipment.
At 60 pto hp it will operate a small 4x4 round baler. ON FLAT GROUND! On hills the tractor weight will not be enough to hold back on a hill with a full bale. It would dangerous on hilly/steep ground. Use a 5075E or larger for that application. My safety advice for the day.
@@davidmidkiff2909 a 4R cab weighs almost 5k stock, probably pushing 7-8 with loaded tires, wheel weights, and loader/front weights. A 4x5 450E baler weighs 4K (5k with a bale). (And the tow rating is likely something like 150% tractor weight) so I fail to see the safety issue. A 4R (or any CUT) set up in a sensible way for being used as a farm tractor (ie ballasted at all) is not a light weight toy for their HP.
Great video Tim! A question I have is have J.D. improved the cooling system on the 4075r? My 4066r struggles when the temps start to climb. Looking forward to the upcoming videos!
You should experiment and see if the 4075R (on level ground) is capable of pulling something like the S250 MoCo. It is technically within spec for HP and hydraulics. Only concern might be weight of the mower itself. Could be a game changer for the small hay operations or large hobbyists.
Tim, does the 4 series come with easily removed screens to keep dust out of coolers? That is something I really like about the 5075E over my 3039R. That one is a major pain
Needs a Class II Hitch. I run an 80" inverted blower that can do either 1 or 2 and it's FAR more stable when I have the Class II setup. It's wider and that makes a difference. I see similar with the 80" Land Plane. The Class II extra width just keeps the implement more stable behind the machine. I can't imagine it costs that much more to put the larger arms on at the factory. For the record, my machine is an old 1968 Ford 5000. Some of those comforts sure look nice. But then again, my machine was about $10k with the implements. (^_^) You should go meet and talk with some of those Canadian companies like Nick Bohner, that use the tractors for snow. They are amazing to watch. Whole reason I got a 60hp machine was so that I could run an inverted blower and it's the cat's meow here in New England. Heavy Wet snow? No Problem. Sure it can't fling that 60 ft like it can powder, but my tractor can move stuff that my 10hp Ariens blower clogs and dies trying to move. Get a big storm with deep snow and you have no narrow roads from packed banks, no problem tossing over the edge, and with the throwing action behind you, you have no problem seeing what's ahead. Very useful when reaching an intersection. Will be cool to see these new machines with Cyclone style blowers in action.
So is the engine the same as the 4066r with a software upgrade or does it actually have different hardware on it to get the 9hp. Also did they put a 12v aux power port on the right side or is it still on the left even though anything you put in would be on the right window?
Third comment is the charm: Those 4 series are lovely tractors, and id love to get one with a cab. Also, i love hydrostatic tractors, they seem to handle the bumps and jars of our rocks better than gear drive tractors, at least transmission wise. While thats been my experience, im sure others will argue the point, its just what i e observed in my area.
Definitely would prefer the DPF filter with regen, than DEF fluid. The coating looks like nitride, or some other form of DLC(diamond like coating) they use it in firearms and it definitely protects the metal.
@@MrRandalhandle I believe the DOC system used to avoid DPF is basically a DPF that is always hot/in regen where you don’t have as much filter plugging, but still have the hot exhaust and fuel usage. I don’t believe any 75hp class machines have ever used DEF as the entire point of that power rating is it’s the point where the emissions limits change (which is why DEF gets used above it)
My new 23 3046R came in over the weekend, to my surprise it has all the new updates seen here. Curious did you try to stream music from your phone through the new radios. The old ones were Bluetooth but only worked with phone calls, can’t stream music on the old ones. I am hopes that the new ones can steam music too. I will find out soon, just thought I would ask you about it.
I’d like to see the difference in fuel consumption between the 4066r and the 4075r since they did not increase fuel capacity. Also the fuel consumption difference between the 4075r and 5075e would be interesting.
Tim correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that TYM has been using an electric rear lift for sometime. Great video I wonder if Pete (GCI) knew this tractor was coming when he ordered his 4066R?
The best noise canceling device in those cabs would be a radio block-off plate like they used when you didn't order a radio back in 50's & 60's. Seriously! 😮

(and doesn't guzzle as much fuel as those bigger tractors, either)
The 4R series is more for homeowners, stables, landscaping outfits, etc.
Awesome video wonce again, your friend is great as well
Will the new led lights replace the bulb lights on a older 4052 or did they change the design on the front of the grill and cab?
From a google search:
What is black nitride coating?
Black nitride is an extremely durable finish that is achieved via the QPQ method of "quench polish quench." This process leaves the material a dull black finish with excellent corrosion and abrasion resistance. This process can only be done to steel components.
It's also used on many firearm parts.
Can't wait to see the next new video with the bigger tractor on that mower. keep her moving 😊
Not only NO BLUE TOOTH but they were still charging $500 for a $50 radio
More features that they should've added why not a self leveling loader, on the 3R series Yes, you can get it on the 4 series
I know, and the 2 series and the 1 series why not the 3R series ???
So again, every series, except for 3
Just the same 320R loader nothing new !!
Lol
Oh sure any cab will cost close to $12,000 you think they would have illuminated controls for nighttime use, including the heat and air conditioning and what about intermittent wipers ?
As soon as you get out of the 3 and 4 series compact, cheap cabs, you get everything much better
I have absolutely no need for a 4 series, but boy do i LOVE them! Nice job guys.
Yes. To the other side. Closer to radio…shorter cord.
How come you don't show no farmall and where the diesel going into on that 4072!
Agree. The new features are awesome.
Let’s get started great video and explanation
Cat 1 or Cat 2 should be an option. That's what I would expect, sad to hear it's not. One thing I've noticed about Deere in the last 30 years, they do great things, just fall short of going that last little bit.
That 4 series should be cat 2 or use the end link balls with cat 1 & 2
On the 4075r, did they upgrade the steering system which sometimes struggles on a 4066r under heavy load.
Like a better pump, bigger steering cylinder, bigger hydraulic hoses going to steering cylinder???
I believe the steering cylinder may be improved on the HD axle…but I am not positive.
For the rear power connector, is there a switch in the cab?
No.
Awesome Video Tim
Any option for a front PTO?
Yes, with front 3 pt hitch I think. 1000 rpm, I think.
I’m curious if the Bluetooth radio setup would work in the previous models?
It would, but I would recommend that you consider the aftermarket approach I used in my 3520. Check out that video.
i know you have the bucket up all the way, and not under it but i cant see if it has the drop down arm on the cylinder like big loaders do usually pinned up out of the way😎
Interesting about the CAN Bus connector and the 30-amp power in the rear.
I wonder why the 2024 3R cab tractors don’t come with the Electronic three point hitch?
It is a Black Nitriding ,Advantage is better lubricity and deeper hardness. Much better resistance to impact damage and it will not flake off like chrome can.
I have a 3720 and the cab air conditioning sucks. How is the air conditioning in the newer models?
@Tractor Time with Tim I've tinted all the windows but haven't tried to insulate the roof yet
Kenton is just a hoot, you need to have him on more.
Thanks for the kind words, it’s great fun.
Good comparison
I would definitely buy a TTWT license plate and they are mandatory over here to drive tractors on the road
That 4075 is an interesting size for its HP
any video with Kenton involved is a GREAT video 😃😃😃
Thanks so much Don! I’m so glad, and encouraged that you enjoy my craziness. It is a lot of fun “working” (and it’s certainly not work for me) with Tim and Christy.
very interesting. can’t wait to learn more. here we go again, I am going to have to trade.
Thanks!
Horrible on the 3R cab!
Much better on the 4R cab.
I cannot explain why it is different.
…and no, it does not get better with age.
Me too!
What are the size of the tires?
Several options. 16.9 24
The 30 amp rear power connector you mentioned, is it switched from inside the cab or just contuous? I would love to know as I just received a 4066R cab tractor and this was not mentioned to me by my dealer. Thank you in advance Ray
You wouldn’t have it on your ‘23 4066r. Sorry. …but no, there is no switch inside.
@@TractorTimewithTim Thank you for your very prompt response!
Love seeing Kenton but he keeps me laughing so much I can't focus😂 I saw the LED lights and 👀 couldn't take my eyes off them.
Ronald, i enjoyed your comment! I had to watch the video to see what I missed while I was laughing😉. Great fun! Kenton
No quick release skid steer attachment or 3rd function valve..
Ssqa is an option. Choose at purchase.
@@TractorTimewithTimI thought you couldn't get ssqa from Deere? I thought you were stuck with Deeres hook up.
Available as option on the 4 series now.
It is cheaper to do that treatment than hard chrome !
Whatever. It works better!
Will the 4075R be able to run hay equipment either square or round bales?
It should be able to handle small or round squares in my research, just not big squares
@@lebraun12345 Probably could handle 2x3 and 3x3 LSBs, 3x4 and 4x4 would depend on densities and lengths (ie weight)
For making it, would work great IMO on small squares and 4x5 round balers and all of the prep equipment.
Will the tractor move at all with p.brake on using the buttons 4 forward an reverse? From gary
Yes.
Great video Tim! A question I have is have J.D. improved the cooling system on the 4075r? My 4066r struggles when the temps start to climb. Looking forward to the upcoming videos!
AC or engine cooling?
You should experiment and see if the 4075R (on level ground) is capable of pulling something like the S250 MoCo. It is technically within spec for HP and hydraulics. Only concern might be weight of the mower itself. Could be a game changer for the small hay operations or large hobbyists.
Tim, what is the deal with the 2 new tractors? are they permanent? Are they free? Did you buy them?
Sorry…thought we made that clear. We have them for 2-3 weeks only. No money changed hands.
That was a funny video! I'm sure whom ever designed that rear wiper is going to get an ear full when he goes back to work Tuesday! LOL!
Tim, does the 4 series come with easily removed screens to keep dust out of coolers? That is something I really like about the 5075E over my 3039R. That one is a major pain
No, it does not.
Does it have two speed pto?
It is an option. This one does not have it…at least I could not find a control for it.
You should go meet and talk with some of those Canadian companies like Nick Bohner, that use the tractors for snow.
I still want a 4075R with open station!
How does anyone top an outro like that?!?!?
No one else watched to the end! I think you had the first comment about it.
So is the engine the same as the 4066r with a software upgrade or does it actually have different hardware on it to get the 9hp.
Also did they put a 12v aux power port on the right side or is it still on the left even though anything you put in would be on the right window?
Electronic throttle control would be a huge improvement. I’ve been spoiled by the auto idle feature on my mini ex…
Get your push button green hood release of is their a actual hood latch for those interested
Great video.
I’m just here for Kenton
That is a good reason!
Thank you Joey.
Definitely would prefer the DPF filter with regen, than DEF fluid.
The coating looks like nitride, or some other form of DLC(diamond like coating) they use it in firearms and it definitely protects the metal.
The dpf is pretty disappointing most manufacturers no longer need them or def on 75hp machines, Deere included. The 5075 no longer has a dpf.
@@MrRandalhandle the entire concept of both was #tyranny anyway.
I think i was able to stream music. The 3R has an issue wheee the mic is not working for phone calls.
I’d like to see the difference in fuel consumption between the 4066r and the 4075r since they did not increase fuel capacity. Also the fuel consumption difference between the 4075r and 5075e would be interesting.
My 3320 06 model has the black rams on it.
Weird to see a snow cab model with the R4s, Most of the time they have the beautiful Nokians.
Tim correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that TYM has been using an electric rear lift for sometime. Great video I wonder if Pete (GCI) knew this tractor was coming when he ordered his 4066R?
He (nor I) knew at the time of his order….or even at the time of delivery.
The best noise canceling device in those cabs would be a radio block-off plate like they used when you didn't order a radio back in 50's & 60's. Seriously! 😮
