As someone skinny who's trying to get shred (or at least stronger), this is great motivation to keep up. Sometimes I feel like I'm always going to be skin and bones because I'm having a slow progress and my training is not very organised since I'm doing exercise in a self taught way and I do what it feels barrable for my condition, instead of demanding impossible levels of activity, but you're right. Consistency is the key, and the results will come in time, so aiming for the long term will be my mindset. Thanks again John, you're the man!
John, I gotta say it. You're my role model. I've been listening to you for 1/4 of my whole life(more if you count your work in Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, Heck, I used to listen to The Cog is Dead while I played clash of clans.) Now with this channel you give real, genuine motivation. You follow your heart and inspire me to be better. Also dig the Johnny Cash cover.
Thank you so much! Wow, listening to The Cog is Dead WHILE playing Clash... now THAT'S dedication, lol! That's so awesome, thanks for letting me know! I'm happy to hear that I've been such a positive part of your life. 😁
As you have said before, slow down when eating. When I started my weight loss I talked to the excersize group at my work and they gave me tips and my research found more. It is said about 3500 calories is a pound. Walking 10,000 steps is about 5 miles and losses about 400-500 calories. We need at least 2000 to 2500 calories a day to function. It's said it takes 21 days to create a habit. 3 days to break it. So they told me a lot is just doing it. Start small. Watch how much you eat. I can eat what I want but I make sure I don't eat too much. Your recipes are helping. My workout I just have a simple schedule, I may not lose all the weight at once but I stay consistent. I feel good and I agree with your words. Keep it up.
For sure, if you're able to focus on staying consistent rather than achieving quick weight loss (easier said than done most of the time) you are more likely to stay on track and make progress in the long term. Staying consistent helps you to create habits. And it helps you make progress. When I started I would walk at a speed of about 2.5 mph on the treadmill to avoid getting myself too tired out. Now I can comfortably walk at 4 mph with no problem. I could have never done that when I started, but by staying consistent and making the changes to my eating and exercise routine a habit I made progress and over the course of a year I continued to be able to move faster as the weight came off and my strength/stamina increased, and I could do things I couldn't have before. It's definitely worth sticking with it, there are so many benefits! Same to you - keep it up! ^_^
Great vid as always, brother! I have a topic suggestion - Plateaus. In the last 1.5 years, I've lost a little over 100lbs but have found myself firmly wedged at around 240lbs for the past six months. I finally broke out of it today, but only because I contracted a pretty severe flu and lost something around 6lbs overnight. Keep up the great work, John!
Thanks so much for the suggestion! Plateaus are super frustrating, and I've experienced many times when the weight loss progress seemed to just stop, no matter what I tried. I'd be happy to do a video talking about my own personal experiences and what has worked, along with advice I've followed from others that has helped. Thanks!
I would love to see drink recommendations! Especially for someone who has started drinking more water (Got myself a water bottle that makes me happy), and cut back on pop/soda (pick your term as you wish).
I cut out soda and switched to vitamin water xxx sugar free. I also drink a lot more water. Oddly enough when you feel hungry it is often because you're thirsty.
Interesting suggestion! Any specific types of drinks you're interested in, such as alternative sodas, coffees, smoothies, shakes, teas, hydration drinks, etc? Personally I've switched from regular soda to zero sugar sodas. Obviously water is the best thing for everyone, but most of us also enjoy (and crave) tasty drinks. I personally drink sugar free sodas and coffee, as well as plenty of water. But you've given me an interesting topic to think about for future videos. Thanks!
