When Barack Obama tells you "Let's stay in touch", you know you are doing something right. Kudos Trevor! Thanks Mr. President! Thanks Obama Foundation Leaders!
😂 Yes! I felt a little stab of jealousy at that!
I liked the playful banter between them, but also knew that Mr. Obama could take charge of the conversation anytime he wanted to. He, as we all do, really likes Trevor.
Not only that, he thanked Trevor for HIS time. If anything, we should be thanking him for making time to come on the show.
Yeah, what an honour. But Trevor is a great inspiration for many marginalized communities: He is from Africa, he was not privileged, but turned out to be a great human being and very successful.

President Obama is leading a wonderful life after his retirement. Helping the youth make their part of the world a better place is a worthwhile endeavor. Well done to both him and Mrs. Obama.

The best a President can do after "retiring" is to inspire the people taking over the reins to pursue their passions with the support and opportunities people LIKE a former President are particularly qualified to offer... if not for the youth pushing ahead to improve the lives of people around them (and their own in turn), our world will face absolute demise at the hands of greedy autocrats. Who better to invest in than people with their entire adulthoods ahead of them who see the needs around them and desperately want to improve their communities? It's inspiring to see someone my own age not at all settled into those final 'working years' but as active as a young face fresh out of university-it just happened to be Harvard in his case lol (and while he is among the smartest to come from Harvard, I'm so glad he's as down-to-earth as a country boy whose move to the "big city" was to go to a state school. :)
With future leaders like that, I still have hope for our world.

The War criminal who invaded Libya and cynically received the Nobel Peace Prize.😂

Seeing those young leaders choked me up and had my eyes well up a bit, especially the young woman from Timor...Healthcare for the Timorese, by the Timorese! 🧡 Talk about a moment of "Ask not what your country can do for you... ask what you can do for your country" being responded to with "See what we can do! Just watch us!" ✊👏
East Timor has had to deal with so much so it's incredibly inspirational to hear what she is doing.

@@sanddollar4915 I appreciate your forthrightness. I feel that I need to admit to you that I'm irritated by your willingness to admonish me, whom you do not know ("You just have to pay attention"). It's not as if I don't pay attention; I also don't engage in corporate news media; it's not my thing, because it's completely biased toward large corporations, which favor wealthy white men. There are many other happenings in the world to pay attention to - elections in the state in which I currently reside (Iowa, and sadly - fail), general national politics, the overturning of Roe, the war in Ukraine, destroying the environment. It's not as if people I know - from Maryland, NC, TN, CA, or IA have been discussing the Obama Foundation, nor have I seen this in Mother jones or heard about it on NPR or other podcasts. I don't use Twitter, and likely never will. So maybe instead admonishing me, you can refer a better media source. As soon as I learned about the foundation from this clip, I was able to google it and get plenty of information. What we need is for the average citizen to be delivered information about the foundation.
You could argue The Daily Show is part of the much-criticized media. But it is instead a model for the best kind of news: when even the off-camera interactions are just as genuine and inspiring as the main event.
I think that's largely down to the host and the team he brought together around him. I hope it becomes a tradition for the future iterations of the show to do these between the scenes but I don't know if anyone's going to want to.
All these people from different countries are so inspirational ❤ - thank you for introducing them and their projects - amazing ❤

Even more than the interview with Obama, this segment made me weep tears of joy. As long as there are empathetic, passionate, intelligent and hardworking young leaders like these folks in this world, there will always be champions against corruption and hatred. You can see the look of pride and joy well up in Obama as he watches these young women and men speak and convey their truth. It’s really beautiful and gives me hope in what can seem like a dark and hopeless time.
And Obama and Trevor are rare examples of genuine media personalities/celebrities who actually try to empower their audiences to think critically and compassionately.
This is truly what it looks like to be “living your best life“. President Obama is lucky to have left office with so many productive years left in his life, and we are blessed that we get to watch all of what comes from that life. The camaraderie between him and Trevor was obvious (I am definitely going to see their show “Half-and-Half”!) And now Trevor is about to go live his best life. Can’t wait to see where they partner up again!
I am so glad they did another interview as I loved the first one so much. I hope Trevor finds a way to continue to interview people, but failing that, I hope that these two work together on some level because both are very inspiring and caring individuals.

Absolutely the best inspiration in the world to see my favorite president ever and him and his fantastic wife doing even greater things than they did in the white house. I remember when he was running & they kept dumping on him because he was a community organizer, meanwhile it's one of the things that is adding to his legacy. So many up-and-coming world-changers are going to credit the Obamas as inspiration vs other previous presidents...

If this doesn’t burst your heart with joy, you may want to check your pulse. All of those leaders are so inspiring and the imprint President Obama has had on them will cascade beautifully into their communities and across the world. Couple all that with the rapport between Trevor and President Obama and I am as Stevie Wonder sings, overjoyed.
I wish this kind of Foundation can reach out Globally. They will be very helpful especially in & around South Asia.

Most US presidents have gray hair during their presidency (not a job I would like to have, too much stress), but Obama waited a few years. And kudos to Trevor: you know your job,! Just wow. The way you interact with these people, your interest, your questions. I know you are leaving the show, best luck with your next project and thank you.
Interestingly there was an article when he was the president which showed how much he had greyed and aged from the time he took office to when the article came out(maybe in his second term but I can’t recall correctly).

you must have not seen a photo of him during his second term or when he left, he definitely began to gray visibly during the job but really that has a lot to do with age.

I need to remember the names of these people because if they make a significant impact with what they're doing I remember this interview years later and say "wow that was them I remember that I remember hearing about this in the year 2022" I particularly like that last one because it's kind of a step up of what Obama was doing so he's giving opportunities for people to become leaders and with his initiative it's making it accessible for entrepreneurial opportunities which is par and part leadership as well and it's for everyone in Liberia no matter where they are at. To put an analogy it's allowing any flower to flourish and grow
Simply beautiful to see communities from all over the globe unite and improve living conditions and create opportunities for their fellow citizens. Kudos to President Obama and Trevor for this segment. Refreshing to see a former President spread positive vibes and hope for our young generation. 🙏

I think the craziest thing is that I never hear about Republicans being mentors to this capacity or supporting NGOs that help so many people.
Let's think about what former Democratic presidents do after office and what former republican presidents do.....why is any human a republican. Really why?

Not only are these people great leaders but their initiatives are also very helpful. I mean mentoring for men's mental health scholarships for your country to help those people in programming you know those things are very important cuz you don't think about it until you really consider like "oh yeah that's kind of important to society"
