What! Kim married him and had his kids she's rich stop the pour me movement for woman. You guys speak of harassment but you never speak about Kris Jenner sexually harassing her bodyguard? You speak on abuse but suddenly it doesn't matter when woman conmit the crime. Your defending a family who made their money on getting a killer off scot free! Haha the irony. Maybe this is carma finding the family. Kim recently called you normal women lazy, fat, it wont be long tell she gets back with west and calls you all haters and racist. @@megapiglatin2574 I mean, she hasn't filed any restraining orders or anything right? I think Kanye is wrong and crazy AF, but dang, can't women ever act like they have agency instead of always expecting society to step in on their behalf?
@@maniac50ae14 so there is "scary behavior that is disrupting my life" harassment and there is illegal harassment, the later being a subset of the former. I can't stand any of the Kardashian nonsense. I absolutely detest them to the point where I try to avoid stores that carry their product. But when he hasn't crossed into the illegal behavior yet, she can't file a restraining order. In fact it's not easy to get restraining orders in California. She has hired a security team, something most women leaving can't do. But I can tell you from experience how terrifying it is to watch someone spiral into unstableness as they harass you. To fear every day that if they do cross that line it won't be a slow decent but a catastrophic action. It will be kidnapping the kids and taking them out of the country. It will be shooting you in the head. It will be burning down your house or lighting your car on fire. All things that have happened to women who chose to leave. Most of the time these behaviors follow concerning but not illegal harassment. And how hard it is to get the police or courts to do anything until it is clearly over the line to illegal harassment. This isn't about boohoo poor Kim. This is about seeing this happening to someone with resources and using that to build empathy for how hard it can be to get out of a bad relationship. Ps. I use the examples of heterosexual relationships with male abusers but this happens in all types of romantic and familial relationships with both male and female (and everything in-between) as the abusers.
Anyone that’s read Trevor’s biography knows this hits close to home. His mother was abused and when she finally left his step father shot her in the head (she miraculously survived). But I’m so glad he’s calling out the similarities between the “he won’t let her go” Kim and Kanye situation. It doesn’t have to be “shoot her in the head” for it to be in the same vein of abuse. Trevor is the perfect person to talk on this, I’m so glad he is
For a second, I forgot about his personal ties to abuse. His story was very powerful and insightful. Glad he's speaking on terrifying behavior like this.
I was just telling my daughter that for the first time, I actually could relate to Kim. I was held hostage in a marriage for three years. He refused to divorce me. He harassed me, threatened me, continued to control me, lied to the courts and made absurd rules saying what I could and couldn't do, locked me out of all of my money, and used my kids as pawns. It was horrific. Kim has a support system and financial means to get through this, but I did not. I lost everything. No matter what you think of Kim, she is a person, and no one deserves this treatment. Pete too, for that matter.
and even so, Kim can't really call Ye out as if she does, his fans will come for her. Ye has Sunday Services, and yet can behave in ways that will say to other men "This is fine to behave this way."
Great segment. He didn’t over analyze and look at things that weren’t there, he just looked at what was presented and made an assessment, which helped so many question a deeper issue.
Very true! Until this segment, i felt that i had no interest in anything Kim related. Having had family members survive domestic abuse, I now see things from a new perspective.
Trevor just knows how to humanize things. As a comedian, he knows the lines between joking and taking these things seriously. Requires a very high EQ and I just admire how well-spoken he is with this.

@Summer Staff Don't comment on posts you're not wise enough to grasp the context of. Clearly. She said, 'I assure you no woman out there who has ever been xyz sees this as anything other than xyz'. Your assumption is the exact opposite of what I was saying. But, by all means, go off.
“why didn’t you leave?” not that easy… Trevor knows that. Son of Patricia. Thanks Trevor. The problem with the Daily Show is that Trevor Noah is so much better than anything they could write for him. He doesn't need guests or skits, just a mic.
What comedian takes time out of their day to discuss serious social issues without hamming it up for audience appeal? This dude's a national treasure. Thanks man.
I’ve said this several times, and I’ll say it again: Trevor will go down as one of the most important voices in the last 100 years, and not just as a comedian. He is truly a genius.
"Art can be therapy but therapy can be therapy" is probably one of the most overlooked, but powerful statements from this video. Trevor, you are one intelligent and articulate individual. I am grateful and so respectful of your views on the challenges that women go through. Even your stand-ups demonstrate that. You, sir, were brought up by strong women around you.
You stated this so perfectly. I was going to try to say what you said but change it up a little, as if I kind of thought of it myself...but, let's face it. I'm probably just going to copy your home work and put my name on it😌💖
While I appreciate there was an existing mental health issue, and they are uber rich....,this sounds like classic escalation of behavior by a new or practiced abuser: escalation of abuse, gaslighting, stalking, lying, etc. Sometimes the next step is violence.
I couldn’t figure out why the Kim/Kanye/Pete situation made me so extremely uncomfortable, until I listened to this monologue. Thank you Trevor, for speaking out. I was brutalized by my first husband for years before I left. Then dealt with the same kind of BS that Kanye is doing now. You are absolutely right. It’s unacceptable, no matter what his mental status is.
@AJ C People keep portraying Kanye as some Kurt Cobain-esque tortured genius while he tortures his former wife, in laws and her boyfriend. Kanye is at best a man having a mental health crisis, and at worst a total creep
Well mental challenges have so much to do with it! & in his celebrity no one says no to him! Paychecks & fake life does that to a person! Who is saying "kanye that's really wrong & insulting & threatening to Pete & Kim, ur children's Mother." NO 1! THAT'S WHO!
Trevor is a sage masquerading as a comic/entertainer. He is talking about the deep narrative of our society’s misogyny and acceptance of male dominance and the normalization of this pathological behavior. He is able to speak to people about these issues in a way few are able. Trevor is a gem and I very much hope he is able to continue this for a long long time. So often the wise and insightful are silenced right as they begin to make a real difference in our world.
I'm glad that someone with a huge following is saying what needs to be said about this whole situation. It's incredibly uncomfortable to see what Kanye is doing and someone needs to intervene.
@Matthew Donnelly he's just an incredibly narcissistic person. I don't think religion has anything to do with it. He's literally so manipulative and controlling.
We have to brave and say : yes .there are rich black guys who are completely hostile and racist against white men 🤔...black people in America suffered enormously for long time in the past ..but this was in the past.. Now it's completely different..we all live in civil society and we all have to get on together as human beings...not as black this and white that
As Phil Defranco said, there are people in our lives who don’t have Kim’s resources and they’re watching how we react to this situation. They need to feel safe and not judged to come forward.
Truth I get it she’s Kim Kardashian she’s a celebrity celebrating life and all but in reality she knew her husband was already crazy and she did her best but in the end nature already took it’s course she got the divorce but now look what’s happening with her ex😔sometimes I think marriage shouldn’t be apply.
More like why did you marry that man in the first place? Kanye did not become mentally ill in 2022, his condition predated their marriage. Kim is now with Pete Davidson, a man who threatened suicide when Ariana called off the engagement. Yeah that also happened before she started dating him. How about don’t date a series of mentally ill men and then act surprised when they “get crazier”.
@@peachesandpoets Elaborate your thought or admit you’re speaking out of emotion. A woman replaced a mentally ill man for another mentally ill man. When you deliberately seek out mentally ill partners for your relationships knowing the power imbalance that creates, you are a predator, not a victim.
“Women are questioned for what is happening to them as opposed to people questioning what is happening to them.” That just spoke to me on a deep level because that’s exactly what happened to me when I was being harassed and mentally abused. The questions were “did you start it?” & “Why don’t you talk to him?” It felt like an attack when ppl said those things especially in that mental state. I’ve done some healing and definitely gotten that man out of my life but it still left wounds that open up every once and awhile. I’ve been oblivious to what’s been happening to Kim cause I don’t really keep up with celebrity drama. It’s sad and I hope people wake up soon and things work out for the best cause as much as I’m indifferent to Kim she doesn’t deserve this no one does.
These segments are Trevor at his best. They used to come out during audience Q&A's, and it's what I missed most about him when the world changed. He's a thoughtful, measured voice, and a pleasure to hear.
Brilliantly said. This isn’t about Pete vs. Kanye, its about a women desperately wanting a divorce and to move on in her life, and a man harassing her at every single turn.
Let me pop the bubble you created for yourself. Both Kanye West and Pete Davidson are mentally ill. Kanye uses his mental illness to create art, Pete uses his to create comedy. Then there are the dark days, with Kanye burning bridges and putting people on blast on national platforms, while Pete Davidson threatens suicide while locked in a hotel room after his engagement was called off. You’re focusing on them, while the focus should also be on Kim who is no victim as well. Why does this woman prey on mentally ill men? Power. It’s always easier to blame the ones who deviate from the social norm, but what about the ones who manipulate those circumstances to push their own self interest?
I have been following this Kanye kim drama for a while now and it seems like Kim wants to have total control over their kids and is isolating them from their dad he also has a say in their lives
Beautifully said Trevor, I'm literally crying after hearing about your mother and her struggles to stay safe. Thank you for sharing your experiences and educating us on the dangers of ignoring domestic violence 🙏
"Why didn't you leave?" that is the absolute most dangerous time in a volatile, abusive relationship. The abuser finds themselves losing control so their behavior escalates very quickly and more violently.
I’m currently on house arrest (for a DUI) after my ex harassed/threatened me to the point of me grabbing my dogs and fleeing. Should I have been driving after I’d been drinking? Of course not, but I hadn’t exactly made plans to be leaving the house. This originally happened in 2020, nothing ever happened to him, and he just simply got to move away.
I forget my source on this, but they interviewed a bunch of guys 8n prison who murdered they're spouses, and a large majority of them said that they killed when the girl said they were leaving.
The fact that Trevor had to constantly clarify his point to avoid being pigeon holed behind a statement also shows the voracious nature of social media. Ready to pounce on anything even remotely off colour. It's sickening.
Yeah I was disappointed by that. Deeply. Call it what it is. I have always admired him for his boldness in calling things out. I feel he did not do justice to this issue.
Being conscientious of a topic's nuance, and being aware of your own potential for bias towards it, isn't the same thing as feeling the need to tip-toe around a subject to try and avoid social media backlash.
This was dripping with class, sophistication, intelligence and empathy - The whole tone of this video from the editing, color scheme, vocal cadence and body language delivered well!!! Thank you
If I had a dollar for each time someone (especially a man in my life) told me I was overreacting or being too emotional… I’d be richer than Kim! Trevor, you sir are a gem. I’m so sorry your mama had to endure all of that 😭❤️
Classic gaslighting! Remember something I frequently taught my own children to help them trust themselves and not be overwhelmed by adults or anyone before visiting their abusive father each time: “you know what you know, you know what you feel, you know what you heard, you know what you saw, and you know what you think and no one can ever change those facts!
I work with survivors of intimate partner violence every day. It is so scary because you cannot get the other person to stop. It isn't about love, it is about power and control. Thank you Trevor for talking about it.
@@5thwardmogul,the problem is his wife does not want him and he wants his family? Funny! He spent a year ignoring them! His wife! His children! He demanded Kim uproot herself and her kids and move them because he wanted her too. Never mind his children have lives there. They aren't humans to Kanye. They are his posessions. He wants to isolate them so he can make Kim fall in love with him again but the problem is when he gets them back he doesn't care enough to pay attention to them! They aren't his posessions. These are human lives and Kim shouldn't have to change herself to enth degree to make this man happy. You're supposed to love the person you are with for who they are. You're supposed to love your kids for who they are. The problem is that Kim is not behaving the way Kanye wants her too and he figures if he behaves the way he did when they first met she'll take him back. The problem is she now knows it won't last and he's not changing to meet her needs.
Well said, Trevor, I couldn't agree more! The line "woman are questioned for what's happening to them instead of just questioning what's happening to them" is especially profound. Because you're right: the blame somehow always circles back to the woman, even when she's the one being abused.
I think almost every close woman friend I have has either had at least one stalker or has been sexually assaulted, physically abused, etc, at some point. In most cases, they don’t bother to take it to police, because they’ve never seen that help anyone else. When they have talked to police, it didn’t help them, either. No one takes it seriously until someone dies. Then people yell about, talk about how we need new laws, etc, for a while, then everything just goes right back to how it’s always been.
@c r 1. Just cause she didn't dispute what he said (it wasn't receipts he just said it) doesn't mean it's not true it just means maybe she wants to deescalate it/not deal with a whole back and forth he said she said on a public place 2. My bad you are taking him at his word when he said slavery was a choice. 3. Even if it was true THAT DOESN'T EXCUSE WHAT HE IS DOING
@c r He didn't just "expose her". He did way more than that and again you are taking him at his word that that is true when obviously he's word doesn't mean much
As polarizing as Kim and her family is, the reality of all of this is that they are still people who deserve to live harassment and abuse free. I wouldn't wish a toxic relationship on my worst enemy
@@absbica31 Well seeing as how he's committing crimes against humanity, I think we can all agree he deserves worse than a high profile stalker harassing him 🙃😅
Trevor is 100 percent correct. Kanye's behaviors are out of control. He's testing the waters of harassment, to see just how far he can go. Yet, he is allowed to keep doing it because he is Kanye..the superstar. With that said, like OJ, he also has the means to cause her physical harm if he wants to. We seem to have forgotten about Nicole Brown Simpson and how she and her new lover were found de-capitated after returning to her house following a date. The same scenario is unfolding right in front of us people.
@@MaynardsSpaceship Appreciate that. Sometimes truth and realness are the hardest things to accept, so we ignore them, until they cannot be ignored anymore.

The fact that after trevor said this.... Kanye harras him on instagram, and instagram block Kanye for 24 hours.... Put more light on this situation. Thank you trevor.... I couldn't agree more.
If Kanye was on Ellen talking about his new girl 13 years younger , divorce not even finalized but has 4 tattoos and a brand of Kanye’s name would you say he was crazy? Did Pete harass Kanye when he was on SNL dissing him for years? Did he think kissing his wife on snl with him present was harassing?
Your thoughts are so well articulated that they broke Kanye’s ego and thus led to his Instagram ban. People love listening to Trevor because he puts things in perspectives and helps us laugh off things we can’t take too seriously. Kanye used to communicate his reality beautifully once upon a time. that seems so far ago. His insecurity is all we see and it’s so dark and heavy :/
Everyone turned on Kanye the second he said he supported trump. If he didn’t say anything about that topic y’all would be defending Kanye against Pete Davidson who did the same thing to Mac Miller
As women, we come to believe harassment and intimidation inflicted on us is simple destiny and inevitable. Thank you putting your voice to this sad fact of life
When I asked my mother why she didn't leave him, she said that with him she knows what he is going to do, but away from him it becomes the fear of the unknown.
As a woman who has been in this same situation I agree with Trevor and DL Hugely. This situation is not funny. Yes, a lot of people hate Kim Kardashian but she doesn't deserve this. No woman does. Problems like this always escalate until someone gets physically harmed and or thrown in jail. Kim Kardashian is a human being just like everyone else. I honestly feel for her. Yeah, she has all kinds of security but how can you protect your mind and your spirit from a person who is daily harassing you? It gets way more complicated with kids because the Ex will use them as pawns and bargaining chips.

Trevor, oh Trevor, you've got my heart! This is clearly one of your best pieces. I live in Africa. This s**t goes down all the time. Only the man can leave in a marriage. Only he decides when there should be a seperation or divorce. As a woman who runs away from an abusive marriage, you even have your own mother to whom you have run for refuge waking you up in the middle of the night telling you to go back to your husband's homestead while reminding you that she suffered a worse form of abuse from your father. Your father of course would remind you that you no longer have a room in his house. As a matter of fact, women who run back to their families have a special unflattering name in my part of Africa! Thank you for this deep insight into a matter that should concern us all.
It saddens me that something like this is still existing in the world. I am so sorry for the women who have to suffer the abuse and have no safe place to run to
🥺 I'm so sorry. I cannot truly understand the depth of pain women suffer through in your country. I am in America. We complain so much. There are atrocities here but that takes nothing away from anyone's struggles elsewhere. I can't imagine. May peace be with you and all women who are suffering from abuse.
It's heartbreaking how these things still exists. You are very strong and clearly articulated it. I really hope this changes. We can only start with ourselves and those around us by standing up to it, not tolerating it, and supporting each other. I am so sorry. Spreading awareness will surely help so thank you.
What does africa have to do with it? It's still Earth. And sure that entire continent does not have a high tech military and power, but that to is futile against man & woman. If it can think, it can...
Anyone who has read Trevor‘s book understands why he's shedding a light on this situation from this aspect. There are signs of mental instability and capricious behavior which can escalate too quickly and tragically especially when the aggressor has money. Thank you, Trevor, for bringing abuse and harassment to the forefront.
DV victim here. What you said was spot on and very much appreciated. I did go to the PD. I did call the PD and was screamed at and told I was wasting their time. I got an OFP over 3 years ago and went through 2 1/2 years of a divorce. I still have to deal with him breaking every court order, every judgement, every everything because he doesn't care in the least bit and will do anything to retain control of me through any means he can from coercion to threats to having his new gf text me nasty threats. It never ever ends. The court didn't believe he was abusive to me despite doctors notes and multiple PTSD/Battered Woman diagnosis from every doctor I was sent to. When will victims be believed? When will abusers power to stalk, harass, and harm victims be taken away? When will the courts see it? When will kids be safe from abusive behaviors of parents? When will women be safe? I also want to say that no mental health diagnosis is an excuse for poor behavior. You can seek out treatment to manage it with therapy and possibly prescription medications (depends on your needs and doctors suggestion) but it is never an excuse for your poor behavior. Other people with your same diagnosis function and go to work and manage their symptoms every single day so blaming mental health is never an excuse as so much help is available, especially for someone like Kanye when others who are homeless can't get their meds or see a therapist and have no insurance. Poor behavior is poor behavior. Untreated mental health issues when you have the option to see a therapist is your own poor choice to continue to make poor choices.
Thank you for sharing this. You explain it Powerfully and clearly. I’m so sorry you had to go through that, and still have to go through it. We as society seem so far from addressing this issue and properly protecting the victims, I don’t understand why. It’s obvious and it’s devastating so many people.
That's an option but that's also missing the point. She shouldn't have to be in a position to do this. Shouldn't have to be worried about her life like this. Yes, I agree that she could protect herself, but that's putting all of the responsibility in her hands and not dealing with the main issue being that someone shouldn't be harassing her. Period. Stop making it her fault and evaluate more about what you're actually being/bringing here with your "advice".
Thank you Trevor. It's validating to have men who get it, who understand how frustrating, exhausting and sometimes terrifying stalking exes are. You are a testament to your mother's strength and resilience. Keep telling the truth.
@c r yes I completely agree. I did not mean for my comment to sound oppositional. I’m appreciative of how Trevor is able to articulate these ideas so that people can digest them and form a more well rounded perspective.
Thank you Trevor for this conversation! I have worked with victims of domestic violence for over 14 years. Men need to be on the front line of this work; and I appreciate your contribution to bringing awareness to the horrific issue. Thank you!
Thank you, Trevor! The situation is definitely not a laughing matter. It doesn't matter if Kim is rich or not; having an ex display obsessive and unhinged behavior is a reason for concern.
Yes, I agree, especially when there are children involved. At best they are a witness to his behavior and actions and will be traumatize and scarred, at worst he could snap and decide to harm the children.

Thank you for this. I was stalked by an ex. Then I was beaten badly enough to be in hospital with internal injuries, on morphine for 10 days. Then stalked some more. I had to rent out my house & disappear to another state for two years, until I learned he’d move to another COUNTRY. This situation is terrifying, and getting worse. I fear for all of their safety…Kim, Pete and the kids. Kanye makes videos, ranting to a CAMERA. Not a friend. Not a therapist. He lies about seeing the kids. I'm sorry for what you went through. I went through an abusive relationship too, and had 2 kids out of it. I had to flee back to my home country coz it's the only way I could escape it. I'm not saying that I was completely innocent, I was young and immature, but violence is not the way anyone should respond to another person making mistakes. I hope you are now well, Lorraine. 💕
I'm glad someone with a platform said something. I just lost my bestfriend on Valentine's day to a mentally ill person that didn't want help. While I don't care for the Kardashian family, Kanye harassing Kim is not cool or funny. I truly fear that someone is going to get hurt.

His excellent communication skills & insights Re: culturally embedded complex issues that mainstream media doesn't do justice to, are treasures. Drawing connections, never dismissing context & nuance, he makes them simpler to understand. His commentary moves me.
This definitely needed to be said & as a woman who was abused & harassed I know the feeling. I really do think some women can’t escape it as easily as most think
I will say this again: So many things about what you've said. Kanye will not change though. If I had millions of dollars to bet on this, I would bet several million, because he won't. But you are also right. I have watched the people who continue to "follow" Kanye and I am sad that these high profile people aren't dropping him like a fly. His behavior is unacceptable and him continuing to be "tolerated" by the rest of the high profile society is only reinforcing it. And all the rest of society will follow. And all the narcissistic sociopaths will use his behavior to strengthen their "right" to abuse. -- also, I am a part of the NOT 1%. We abused are no where near isolated, it's way too pervasive in society. I swear, there must be a school these guys go to because their behavior is SO predictable. And widespread.
The other scary part of a woman trying to explain the "why didn't you leave?" answer to someone, is that the woman will often still be dealing with that ex in some fashion. Escalation happens because the harassment is not FIRMLY stopped and addressed in an appropriate way by authorities and society.
I wish for a better future for you and your boys. They will benefit greatly from your love for them. And congrats for making a difficult, but necessary decision about leaving an abusive relationship. Your strength will get you thru to better things.
I just wanted to tell you that you did the right thing, and I am so, so proud of you! This decision will have positive ripple effects on your entire family, possibly for several generations. (I wish we had more of a social safety net for those who must face the same or similar decisions). But, regardless of that, you still made the best decision for yourself and your children. So bravo to you for being an example of a truly courageous human being! ❤🤗❤
Thank you for the words.. I recommend folks to watch every minute of the video before commenting. Listen to what Trevor is saying, swap Kanye and Kim with ordinary folks, then comment. Coz Trev is spitting facts about abusers and their victims
I agree with him for the most part but I don’t think it’s as easy as just saying swap them with ordinary people. It’s understandable to be skeptical of people who make their living off attention and controversies. But I agree it’s better to be concerned and acknowledge it than do nothing

Woke up this morning to a local story about a guy who set his ex on fire. Apparent mental health issues, but isn't that by definition? Thank you for speaking out against domestic abuse!
There are people with mental health issues who don't set people on fire. And that's the line drawn between mentally ill and mentally disturbed people. There are really those people prone to violence, you know?
@@boogermaiden THIS. Thank you for highlighting the very stark differences between those with mental illness & those who are mentally deranged. We've had remarkable success decreasing the stigmatization of mental health illness, thanks to extensive public health campaigns, accurate media portrayals, & public figures discussing their own diagnoses. I fear some of that progress is jeopardized each time illness is conflated with derangement. Additionally, stereotypes are wildly misleading. For example: yes, the majority of school shooters have a history of mental illness; *however,* the overwhelming majority of people with mental illness _aren't_ violent or homicidal.
Mad respect for Trevor for pointing out this situation in such a great way and discussing the struggles women genuinely face, and not being a bias against any of the parties. 🙌
Thank you for so eloquently discussing this. Even the rich and famous can be harrassed and threatened by their spouse. I am not a Kim K fan but yes, she is being harrassed. Period.
I like Trevor as a comedian, but I think he’s fantastic as a social commentator. These personal opinions he offers are very honest, insightful, and compassionate
Truly one of the clearest explanations of how domestic abuse and violence can escalate. In a country full of guns that seem to have more rights than women do, I appreciate Trevor bringing this level of candor and authenticity to a topic that deserves more coverage.
Thank you Trevor. Women who endure abuse are rarely listened too. I remember my mom being asked and told the same things you heard as a child. No one deserves to be scared to live day to day.
This was so raw and honest and it’s because Trevor spoke clearly from his heart that made this message so powerful. We should all use our voices and speak the truth. I’m so happy he did this. Thank You. 🙏🏻
Trevor you are easily one of the most influential voices out there... One of the only people speaking common sense from all sides. Thank you for being brave enough to put yourself in the public eye and voice your opinions, representing the rest of us in a truly respectful and admirable way.
I've brought up how nasty this whole situation feels with my male friends a few times now, and always found it baffling when they seemed to just brush it off and act like it was a given that the situation wouldn't escalate. But the truth is that this kanye situation has BEEN escalating for months and months now, first it was roses and "I want to win her back", then it was moving in across the street, and now passing off death threats to his ex-wife's lover as "art". Thank you for doing this piece, you put it in words much better than I ever could
@@sebastianroberts742 Pretty sure making/releasing a claymation video that shows a man kidnapping and murdering his ex's current partner is a wee bit threatening.
I have Ring cameras all around my house, an alarm system and a German Shepherd because of a Kanye/esk stalker. My daughter has also had stalkers. The harassment and obsession is beyond frightening. It’s 8 years later and I have PTSD thoughts every day. Thank you Trevor for pointing out how powerless we truly are in these situations.
Im glad men believe I may stab them if they harass me. I am not into being bothered by annoying, worhless pests. Time is money and rent is due. Women these days have to go to work we don't have time for abuse.
Trevor is without a doubt one of the wisest souls in the world. His humanity just pulses out in gentle vibration through his words. Thank you for commenting on that situation. I don't care for the spectacle of it and totally agree. I too would rather be one of the people with a hazard light on if only to say I did it for nothing and everything turned out fine. I don't care for any of their celebrity status. I just don't want all the signs we're seeing to lead to one dreadful conclusion. I just want the kids to fine, Kanye to be fine, Kim to be fine and Pete to be fine so we can just go back to the normal stuff: hating on all their rich people privilege.
This is SO important. We need to listen to Trevor. I’m no fan of Kim K, but I am grossed out by the public’s dismissal of the potentially dangerous situation she is in.
@@Wartah20 of course you’re blaming her, she’s moving on, she tried to co-parent with Kanye because she loves her kids. You’re blaming her with a misogynistic argument that all women love attention. You’re probably the type of person who blames victims when something bad happens to them.
@Bzake Why feel bad for him? he made his choices to be involved in the situation. And to be honest, you dont reply to anyone rich or poor I am in bed with your wife..(the mother of his 4 children)
I hope Kim K's protection is on hyper-alert. I had a crazy ex who stalked and harassed me. Restraining order, arrests, the whole nine ,and he finally landed in jail. I still didn't feel safe.
@@Qleverett who ? Kanye or OJ? Doesn't really matter tho. You don't have to verbalize a direct threat, for your behavior to be threatening. And in 1 of these situations a woman was killed.
😄 well...that definitely depends... can Kim be in it for the attention and still be harassed by Kanye? YES can America act like they have TWO presidents after a fair election? NOPE
Thank you 🙏 Decades later, after leaving an abusive relationship, from which all the questions you address were asked and blame was assigned to me, the abuse still continues, though now in more subversive ways. Fleeing across a continent barely lessened the control and abuse this person sought to exert. Even after marring someone else and enlisting them and others, members of my own family, the abuse still continues decades later.
I love Trevor. I have for 7 years when I discovered him online on accident and I still do now. He's hilarious, yes. His comedy is great, yes. But this type of thing right here is what helps set him apart. He's so articulate and empathetic and compassionate. Everything he said here is spot on. It's frightening to think about in the way he's framing it. If one of the most powerful women in the world can't stop it, what chance do normal women have? Devastating to think about.
„… when you do leave, the guy will get even crazier…“ so true and really something most people are unable to realise. Thank you Trevor, for making this point. Such a relief to hear that!
I highly recommend his book Born A Crime. The audio version is not to be missed. If you think he's smart now, listen to it and you'll know what a truly amazing person he is.
@@corruptdispair yeah we think he's funny. And yeah we know you're a troll with nothing better to do but hate on people who achieved greatness while you probably achieved nothing in your life🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Trevor is such a wonderful man. “Women getting questioned for what is happening to them as opposed to what is happening to them”…so right! And we keep telling women to leave, but forget that it doesn’t just end with leaving. Abusive partners get worse & more obsessive after the leaving…so maybe we should talk more on protecting the partner who leaves too.
This was one of the best monologues I have ever watched. Thank you so much for all the women who are suffering and unable to escape post separation abuse. We need more attention to this issue.
Trevor Noah is easily one of the most brilliant thinkers in the US, his speeches on any given subjects are always on point and he always considers all sides of the story.
When you have a society full of dull people, someone like Trevor will appear like a wise man. A man with one eye will always rule a village of blind men.
When people we making fun of Kim K for what was happening with Kanye, this was exactly what I was saying. She's one of the most powerful women in the world and even she's not immune to abuse and harassment from a partner.
That's the thing - the victim doesn't excuse the behavior. It doesn't matter who she is or what she has - the behavior we are discussing, the behavior that is bordering on dangerous, is HIS.
I said this on a Facebook post and I think it bears repeating here. Any woman or man who is making fun of this situation of telling people that Kim deserves what is happening to her is not a safe person to be around full stop. Abuse apologists are never safe people to be around.
You are so correct Trevor. I was afraid to leave and I did leave. Then I experience the worst four and a half months of my life being stalked, threatened, my car damaged & my house broken into. I was afraid I was going to die. Our daughter was afraid her dad was going to hurt her mom. During the arrest one of the officers asked him " Come on man, you know this isn't right. Why don't you just leave the lady alone?". After his response that officer came immediately to my house to tell me "You need to move someplace far away. Someplace that you have never been because he is not going to stop". I did just as the officer said. I was granted a 10-year restraining order which is unusual. But that officer was right. He is still locked up and still trying to contact me. No it's not for our daughter because she refuses any contact. She later told me if he claimed to love you and treated you like that, what would he do to me. This behavior is not a joke. From the moment I heard about Kim dating Pete and Kanye saying & showing he wants her back this did not sit well with me. Then I heard about the video and I thought she needs protection.
I loved how he articulated that Eminem point. We knew it was a character, but at this point that line with Kanye is totally blurred. I appreciate you mentioning that her status is irrelevant. We're watching harassment and bullying on a public stage and people are idle or even encouraging it to be worse just bc they don't like Kim as a person. Smh
No, it was not a character for Eminem’s wife. I listen to her talk about her PTSD, embarrassment and bullying from him, the music, and his fans. She suffered. He literally had a blow up doll on stage and metaphorically “killed her” with everyone cheering on. People threatened to killmher bevacuse them loved him so much. She had a panic attack and that also feed into her addiction issues. Toxic is toxic and they were both toxic to their wives. These are really dysfunctional relationships and they should not be normalized in any way.
@@TheWildWahine exactly! Thank you. Didn't she attempt suicide after watching that song and the blow up doll at a concert? But that's ok, it was just a character, just his schtick?
I understand where Kanye’s coming from with raising his kids and wanting to be a father, but at the core of it all I don’t like the way he’s approached it. He’s constantly blasting her, Pete and anyone who happens to be in his way on a daily basis and leaking private information to get a huge rise from it because it’s always been his publicity style. He’s suffering from his own mental health issues and lashing it out in a pretty disturbing way. As for Pete, he had the right intentions but bad approach instead of being the bigger man in those texts when he started off with the selfie and petty insults. Is it justified? Yes, but at the same time if he wants to do the right thing as his later texts show then he wouldn’t have started off with “I’m in bed with your wife.” I feel bad for the children especially, I hope they aren’t being harassed for everything their mom, dad and potential stepdad are going through
@@TheWildWahine Yeah, I'm also really uncomfortable with people saying that it was okay Eminem did that and that it's somehow different than what Kanye is doing. It's pretty disgusting, actually.
This segment was so insightful. Many people are in relationships that are dangerous and don't have the means, ability, or knowledge of how to get out. Also, the lasting damage that these behaviors do to the children who are caught in these destructive relationships is insurmountable. Thanks Trevor for speaking to the rising tide of mental and physical domestic abuse.
Yes! I really appreciate Trevor using his platform to say this. Famous people are not immune to being threatened or harassed by an ex. Kanye’s behavior towards Kim & Pete is simply disturbing, period.
Thanks Trevor for bringing it up, several years ago I was harassed by a neighbor and the police couldn't do anything, he even sat next to my door to listen to me workout... I stopped washing my car or even cleaning my front yard, I felt cornered by the system to stay quiet about it... he was never arrested not even for trespassing and during that time we was also harassing a minor and when that little girl walked to school he abducted her and attacked her, I think that could've been prevented. He was never caught.
People that are actually a danger seem to get away with so much. I've been harassed too and because I didn't know the person's full legal name, the restraining order I got (with just their first and last name) is invalid/useless. So this person continues to harass me cause I barely know anything about them. I'm pretty sure that woman's behavior will escalate and it could've ended long ago.
it is a fine line to walk to be comedic, genuine, and an ally. Some people are able to briefly balance in that fine area. Trevor does a talent show and doctoral dissertation there. Bravo.
"If Kim cannot escape this then what chance do normal women have." Some women can not even escape from a bad marriage at all. It becomes new normal. They just suffer and suffer and suffer.
Thank you, Trevor. Exactly on point: why does society always question women about what is happening to them rather than question what is happening to them. Was just thinking about this earlier today in the context of one of my law classes.
@@phoenixgate007 I could not agree more. Law school can be such a disillusioning experience, but I know many of my classmates and I do care and hope to be the change we want to see. I was just watching Trevor's interview with Evan Rachel Wood, and she brought up another point I think about a lot: we need science in the law! We need laws informed by psychology and other peer-reviewed disciplines pertaining to how, among other things, trauma is processed and why "just leaving" is often not an option.
Wow this speech was amazing...what you said about your mom...that people always wanted to "CALM HER DOWN" . Like her voice was getting taken away. That rarity in seeing a man see what we women see. I feel ashamed of women hating on Kim K. Thank you for this enlightening hope you give me that there is nothing wrong with a woman wanting her freedom. The most incredible thing is freedom no matter what your gender is. If you get in the way of Kim Ks freedom Karma will get in your way to freedom to. End of story.
A young black woman was killed recently by her boyfriend because she laughed at him after he supposedly declared his love for her. Said boyfriend was in the military. She could not have foreseen those actions. In some minds, it will always be the woman's fault. This is why I don't appreciate hearing about women shouldn't be president because of their "emotions."
I haven’t been able to really put together how I felt about this whole situation until this video. It’s comforting to hear a nuanced opinion about all of this, and even more so for it to come from someone with a platform as large as Trevor’s
It’s pretty clear Kanye is an emotional abuser. Actively harassing his ex-wife and new bf because she simply moved on. She wants to handle things privately but Ye is just throwing fits every other day
It is beyond comforting to know that there actually is another nuanced opinion in this world other than my own! I wasn't keeping up with this - my mother was keeping up with it more than me - so now I actually understand what's happening, I didn't know that Kanye was harassing her
I'm so thankful that finally someone in the spotlight has said what I've been saying. Kanye is being 💯 abusive. I've been having nightmares about him hurting her.
I think I can add an insight I’ve had from the receiving end of abuse. Because someone told me once “no one was holding a gun to your head.” No, but abusers will often hold the gun to their own head and exploit your compassion and your desire to see them get better. They enjoy seeing you cry over them and then make you feel like if you left them you’d be a bad person, no matter how much they hurt you and manipulate you. Imagine the shaming if Kim left Kanye when he was in treatment 4 years ago. It’s very hard to talk about this type of abuse because it comes from people who are usually unwell.
wow. I haven't been through that exact situation, but I have had the abuser brainwash me into thinking I was somehow hurting them . So now not only does the abused feel abused, but they have to feel responsibility for the well being of the abuser.. Wishing you peace and healing.
I just re-read your post twice and realized it hits too close to home for me. I made some mistakes early in the relationship with my current bf (of 5 years now already) and everytime we argue, he'd love to bring it back or make me feel like I'm the worst person ever, and i should feel guilty for what i did. I don't know what's kept me from leaving him but I don't know, your post made me think. I guess my weakness is I usually put others before me and compromise my feelings. Thanks for sharing, Chris! I wish you all the best .
This happened to me, not with a gun fortunately, but it was still disturbing. He insulted me at a party in front of all his friends, and when we got home I wanted to talk to him about it, I was really annoyed about it. Instead of having a conversation like an adult, he BANGED HIS HEAD AGAINST THE WALL and tried to make me feel like it was my fault somehow. BIG RED FLAG and still I didn't leave. It never got any better and thankfully we are not together anymore. I learned my lesson the hard way from that -- Don't Ignore Red Flags, ever again.
"If Kim cannot escape this then what chance do normal women have."
Society seriously needs to ponder upon this.
I can't wait give ppl time they will show you who they all or. That family never lets you down.
@@Rubrick23. So she deserves to be harrassed? Like Trevor said, you can dislike her but also be empathetic to the situation she (and so many others) is in. Sheesh, dude....
@@megapiglatin2574 I mean, she hasn't filed any restraining orders or anything right? I think Kanye is wrong and crazy AF, but dang, can't women ever act like they have agency instead of always expecting society to step in on their behalf?
agreed!
Trevor is the perfect person to talk on this, I’m so glad he is
Yeah you are so right. I read his book and it now makes sense how he relates.
For a second, I forgot about his personal ties to abuse. His story was very powerful and insightful. Glad he's speaking on terrifying behavior like this.
Thank you for your powerful wise words. Yes, let's put our blinkers ON!
That's true, I forgot about that.
Ah
I was just telling my daughter that for the first time, I actually could relate to Kim. I was held hostage in a marriage for three years. He refused to divorce me. He harassed me, threatened me, continued to control me, lied to the courts and made absurd rules saying what I could and couldn't do, locked me out of all of my money, and used my kids as pawns. It was horrific. Kim has a support system and financial means to get through this, but I did not. I lost everything. No matter what you think of Kim, she is a person, and no one deserves this treatment. Pete too, for that matter.
💯
Stop idolizing the pornstar

She just moved on w someone w self confessed borderline personality disorder. This is her pattern
Pete Deserves all of it
Great segment. He didn’t over analyze and look at things that weren’t there, he just looked at what was presented and made an assessment, which helped so many question a deeper issue.
Sharing his personal experience I think really helped stress his point too.
Great point about not analyzing thing that weren’t there. It shows how it’s not comedy, just a real human calling it as it is.
Very true! Until this segment, i felt that i had no interest in anything Kim related. Having had family members survive domestic abuse, I now see things from a new perspective.

While I appreciate there was an existing mental health issue, and they are uber rich....,this sounds like classic escalation of behavior by a new or practiced abuser: escalation of abuse, gaslighting, stalking, lying, etc. Sometimes the next step is violence.

That just spoke to me on a deep level because that’s exactly what happened to me when I was being harassed and mentally abused. The questions were “did you start it?” & “Why don’t you talk to him?” It felt like an attack when ppl said those things especially in that mental state. im over here planing for the rest of my life to be single since I can't tolerate human beings.
Exactly! It is not cute
@@CloroxBleachCompany Pete Davidson takes his meds.

I think almost every close woman friend I have has either had at least one stalker or has been sexually assaulted, physically abused, etc, at some point. In most cases, they don’t bother to take it to police, because they’ve never seen that help anyone else. When they have talked to police, it didn’t help them, either.

I am so sorry for the women who have to suffer the abuse and have no safe place to run to
🥺
I'm so sorry. I cannot truly understand the depth of pain women suffer through in your country.

Hmm so true and sad. I sincerely wish you a genuine peace and I know for you to pen it down, you are strong.
I feel sorry for Kanye and cannot make fun of him, or anyone who wore a red maga hat.
So well said. Kanye can afford any kind of therapy and the right kind of meds.
I’m sorry to hear your story
I’d say you need to choose men better.
Thank you Trevor. It's validating to have men who get it, who understand how frustrating, exhausting and sometimes terrifying stalking exes are. You are a testament to your mother's strength and resilience. Keep telling the truth.

We've had remarkable success decreasing the stigmatization of mental health illness,
thanks to extensive public health campaigns, accurate media portrayals, & public figures discussing their own diagnoses.
Period.
Too bad.
Trevor Noah is a kind, intelligent dude. He doesn't get enough credit IMO.
😂
Truly an amazing human being
While Kim (the oposite) gets all the attention 👀
His book is definitely worth the read. Had me literally laughing out loud, but it was also very human and very warm.
Yes, so why would he have d. chopra on & promote his pseudoscience nonsense?
I like Trevor as a comedian, but I think he’s fantastic as a social commentator. These personal opinions he offers are very honest, insightful, and compassionate
@A P this is one of the craziest what-aboustisms i’ve seen on this platform
very true.
Crazy how after how nuanced and carefully Trevor addressed this situation, Kanye still came for him
Truly one of the clearest explanations of how domestic abuse and violence can escalate.
Thank You. 🙏🏻
More like stroking the liberal ego of modern day women. Garbage. 🚮

If more men had the thoughtful empathy for women that Trevor seems to genuinely possess, we would be ok.

@@ShepStax Don't forget, men have obligations in marriage too. Unless, you are insinuating that marrying a woman equals life imprisonment.
He experienced abuse firsthand. Most people downplay other peoples issues because they don’t really know what it’s like. It’s kinda fictional to them
@@user-en1zc5vd6y I am going to be honest. You have a great perspective. I never thought of it that way.
Thank you for doing this piece, you put it in words much better than I ever could
Oof... red flag on your friends.

Your power is only as weak or as strong as you allow it to be.
It's called bravery you can not be brave without being afraid.

Trevor is without a doubt one of the wisest souls in the world. His humanity just pulses out in gentle vibration through his words. Thank you for commenting on that situation. Decades later, after leaving an abusive relationship, from which all the questions you address were asked and blame was assigned to me, the abuse still continues, though now in more subversive ways.
So the next time that question is posed, "why didn't you?", what could you....?" people should think on this conversation. Thanks for your comment.
„… when you do leave, the guy will get even crazier…“ so true and really something most people are unable to realise. Thank you Trevor, for making this point. Such a relief to hear that!

@@ITISKONY agreed
When people we making fun of Kim K for what was happening with Kanye, this was exactly what I was saying. She's one of the most powerful women in the world and even she's not immune to abuse and harassment from a partner.
And what hope is there for the rest of us
That's the thing - the victim doesn't excuse the behavior.
@@Qleverett yes that's harassment and what Trevor meant when he said "that's like giving cpr while roasting them"
You are so correct Trevor.
I assume this is all why he made "Stan" right? He expresses himself through music.
Well said!
Yes! I really appreciate Trevor using his platform to say this. Famous people are not immune to being threatened or harassed by an ex. Kanye’s behavior towards Kim & Pete is simply disturbing, period.
thats why the answer is to don't have kids unless you're SURE that you're not with someone crazy
@@NO1xANIMExFAN ah the "why did you marry him if he was abusive." Wow. Such insight.
@@NO1xANIMExFAN Ah, another dude trying to put the blame on the victim. No I think the answer is men need to stop being cr*zy
Bravo.
From all of those who have experienced a situation like this - thank you, Trevor.
"If Kim cannot escape this then what chance do normal women have."
Some women can not even escape from a bad marriage at all. It becomes new normal. They just suffer and suffer and suffer.

Thank you, Trevor. Exactly on point: why does society always question women about what is happening to them rather than question what is happening to them. Was just thinking about this earlier today in the context of one of my law classes.
We need lawyers. And we definitely need lawyers who care.
Same question should apply to men as well and not just women.

Right? Men are the ones who can't control their emotions.
The algorithm hasn't given me one of these introspective clips for a while. Really appreciate when your doing these pieces Noah.
