Thanks for an honest review!! To many of these RUclips vids are getting freebies (and so not honest reviews!)
I have the Anker 521 - Totally useless - load of issues by users and mines dead now too - won’t charge/ or replace under warranty as I bought used. Display never showed correct % from the start - suggest any buyers find something better.

Own the 535 and to be honest, I am pretty happy with. The 12V socket i have really not yet used, i´m kind of afraid from what i hear ^_° - but with my EU/DE plug (not the UK ones) i not seen any sparkings on the sockets or something, but i plugin the powercord before turning on the outlets. There´s some "child protect" for the AC sockets, which is good and bad, however it works i guess. Regarding the Fans, there i must say, they´re on my unit pretty silent, if you turn on AC at least for my unit, its some deep sound, which not start to went crazy for like the Ecoflow Delta2 ones for example. Also using Charge only (by DC+USBC or one of these only) as well as for USB C/A out (or in) its just silent or fans off/quiet. Seems your fan(s) are broken, mine is pretty low pitch (if AC is on) and its pretty working fine like 1.5 meters away. The down side for me is the display turns off everytime. Seems you have received a broken device, my DC port on the back is working absolutely fine without jiggling. And yes, the case is not "supernice", but does its job for what it is, some movable device, it´s not "squeeking" or such. I dont know, try to replace your´s and compare to competition (in ~500Wh and pricerange). I like the 535 how it is (and just had hands on the Delta2 which is loud while charge and discharge, which makes for me all other "oh thats much nicer" very obsolete). =)

I just bought the North American version and it seems okay. The sockets are tight and I’ve never heard the fan but I’m charging from portable solar panels and feeding USB devices. My Rocksolar power station sounds like the older units you describe but the Anker 535 has more capacity than any of the lithium ion power stations.

  • @harmonys2102

I found your video because I’m having similar problems and trying to figure out what’s wrong. I’ve trusted Anker products for so long that I didn’t hesitate to upgrade from lithium ion power stations (of other brands) to these as soon as I discovered them. I’ve got quite a lot of money in various sizes, and even gave some as Christmas gifts last year. But lately I just keep having problems with several units not even holding a charge. When one runs out, I switch to the next in line and it’s dead as a door nail but shouldn’t be! It likely was just recharged within the past week. Really disappointed.
Oh and I couldn’t agree more about having only one USB-C, what a waste of the USB-A outlets! They should’ve done half and half at the least.

I have 2 of these and they work just fine, no problems at all..fan is very quiet, light on front works as it should..units charge up fast with batteries being LifePo4 with 4,000 cycle to 80% and the price is right…Send the unit back and get you a Bluetti or Jackery, they both have good better cases and quiet fan’s and a light that will flash when you press the button…

A lot of people seem to swear their copy is fine and that the quality is OK. Putting the faults on mine aside, it does do what it's supposed to. However, I still can't help but feel that this is a step backwards in quality for Anker. Everything just feels cheap somehow.

I have Anker 521 for a moment, and quality wasn't that bad. I thought about buying this one, but after seeing this I would look for something else.
I had EU version (230V plugs).
It got problems with high starting power devices (like studio strobes), so I send it back and want something with higher power rating.
And yes 1 level light is kinda strange.

  • @hotshot8365

The DC charging on the back works fine on mine. Not tried the car charging port (I don’t have anything that goes in there). I hadn’t noticed the plug sockets feeling cheap, but upon inspection the right hand one creaks a little if pushed. My fan sounds normal, not like it is dying like yours - sounds like you got a Friday afternoon unit! Overall I am pleased with the unit but it is pricey and it looks like the quality control might want looking at.

Good that they're not all as ropey as mine. Compared to the PowerHouse II 400, this feels cheap. Maybe I'll warranty return mine. I'd love to hear from you if you do get chance to test the car 12V charging port.

I have the US version of this and I must say that I disagree with you about the frame quality (If they make them both out of the same materials of course.), because mine is very good quality. I could drop this thing down 10 flights of stairs and I bet that it'd still work. Just saying...... However, I do not like they're solar recharging capabilities; they're mad weak sauce and need work. Beyond that..... Love your video, brother, and I appreciate you posting it to help us all out in making a more informative purchase! GOD BLESS YOU! 🙏🏼💪🏼🔥👍🏼👌🏼

Sounds like you may have a lemon. This is also an overseas unit so I really can’t compare US models to it. All of the battery banks I have, 5 so far, and haven’t had an issue. Anker has a decent warranty, I’d say give it a try to see if they’ll replace or repair your unit. I just picked up the 535 and am looking forward to putting it through its paces like I do my other portable chargers. I haven’t seen too many negative reviews, so I appreciate the honesty on yours!

    • @tdcattech
      @tdcattech  2 года назад +4

Based on feedback thus far, it does sound like I may have a bad unit. I still wouldn't buy it again though, purely because of the missing 5521 sockets. They are so useful for me as I have so many devices that can be fed from these (cameras, lights, monitors, recorders to name just a few).

    • @swimp15

did you know @@tdcattech that the manufacturer provides 5 year warranty for these lifepo4 stations? who else can afford that? anker is a premium brand in its field of bussiness. you must have bought some counterfeit piece or some user damaged second hand one. it is absolutely impossible that a faulty charging connector would pass through anker's quality control. and the rest is just like you opinion man, as you say.
