I 100% agree with what Simon said of her. She is totally memorable. I watched that season, and for the life of me I just cannot remember who else performed that year. I know a magician won, for the first time, but I cannot remember who he is (doesn't matter anyway), but Courtz became an instant mega/super/global supernova star for me.
Thank you once again for a great reaction HCR! When I first heard the beginning of this song I was surprised because it was so different than the other songs Courtney had performed on AGT. Then she really let loose and I loved it but was taken by surprise at the same time. Now that I have listened to it countless times I know where all the little surprises are. I just love watching your expressions, especially when she punches you in the face as you put it. I just love the timbre of Courtney’s voice. I think she could be singing Happy Birthday and it would have the same effect on me. It would be the best version I had ever heard. Thank again. Remember to expect the unexpected! You're right that there are several great new artists that have been displayed on RUclips when they have been unable to have the usual concert and album exposure due to the pandemic. The best ones have large fan bases and will make a big impact on the music world when some semblance of normalcy returns. My bias shows with the subject of live performance. Different people have different preferences for musical style. But for get down, pulse pounding, crowd rousing, passion pulling, stage burning performance, IMO there is no one in the same room with Courtney Hadwin--she is the only one I can watch over and over and never get bored!🎶🎤🎸🥁💃

When she's preforming... singing she feels how to sing the song... It's not that some coach teaches her how to sing a specific song... She just feels it... That's also why you feel the songs too, not just hear it... when she sings... It's an amazing talent... Thats also why I can't listen to regular radio anymore... Seriously, that performance is what you'd expect from a major star with decades of concert experience. To be specific, you'd expect to see it from Tina Turner. It's just mind-boggling from a 14-year-old.

Hey Paul. Another great reaction. This was a sensational performance by Courtney. So glad you finally got to see what Courtney can do on a full stage. She is a stage beast in the best possible sense of the term. She owned the stage, she owned the song, she owned the crowd and she owned the judges. The fact that she didn't win the 2018 season of AGT is a total and complete travesty. However, in the long run, Courtney is the big winner. She got the exposure that her incredible talent needed and she is not chained to an AGT contract that is, by all accounts, completely biased against the performer. In the end, Courtney is the one that has gone on to be a worldwide superstar with a following of millions, on the verge of dropping her first album of original music and ready to start touring to sold out stadiums and arenas everywhere when current conditions allow. In my mind, the whole choreography of this incredible performance was set in motion by something Mel B had said after Courtney's Semi-final performance of 'Born to be Wild'. She challenged Courtney in a way you don't want to challenge Courtney when it comes to her music and she answered that challenge in spades. Since you haven't reacted to 'Born to be Wild' yet, I'll save that full story for that time. As far as I'm concerned, there never has been another artist like Courtney, and likely will never be again. They broke the mode with her both as an artist and as a person. LOL - I had laugh at the comment "tied to AGT" contract as a winner comment. The winner is getting paid a million dollars and I believe the contract is only for that year. Anyway, Simon got her signed to Syco and Sony so now she's tied to them. (Simon has since left Syco)

Also though Courtney Hadwin didn't win she has a contract with Sony Records. This show gives a platform and a place for people to perform that they never would have had without it. There 14 champions since 2006. Think of this as a rookie contract for the NFL, NBA, a farm club for MLB teams or Soccor. Those players have to spent 5 years to get a real contract. You haters are all alike. You want to tear down all the positive things people get from the show and turn it into some insidious corporate plot.

However, you don’t necessarily have to win to reap all of those benefits. Until you take the time to read the contract that requires signing, you are not in a position to judge the extreme level of control it provides over the winning artist for an extended period of time. As we are talking about artists who are generally up and coming, it’s not hard to see why AGT has a great deal of leverage and the contracts are weighted heavily in their favor. All I was saying, and this has been echoed by many contestants, is that they may be better off gaining all of the exposure the show provides without actually winning. There are also acts that have gone on to be quite successful, who were scheduled to perform on AGT, but walked away because they thought the contract was too restrictive. The band LILIAC is one example.

My favourite AGT performance. Look at the way she steps down to the judges at about 2:50. It’s pure rockstar full of attitude. Perfect performance.
