The Triforce lads' opinions on Taylor Swift and her... passionate, let's say, fanbase. Full video: • Triforce! Mailbag Spec... #triforce #yogscast #podcast
I recognize I'm not a very casual listener, as I spend most of the time I'm listening to music fully focused on what I'm hearing, often reading the lyrics as well. This comes from struggling with comprehending rap back in the day, which grew into an engrossing love of the genre I can't escape anymore. I've listened to most of Swifts "must know" production, and when they were released very much enjoyed "Folklore" and "Evermore". However, after listening to both on/off for a few months, I realized most of her work is as wide as the ocean and as deep as a puddle. There's so MUCH of the damn stuff, and almost none of it stands to the test of re-listening to the albums a few times over a period of say, 6 months. The songwriting is catchy and makes you bob your head on the first listen, kudos to her on that, but trying to stick with her music for longer isn't a rewarding experience. Unfortunately she is a mediocre lyricist at best, as well, which kind of soured me on a lot of her songs in the first place. Liking her music is completely cool though, not everyone has to be the stuck-up snob I am, the world would be boring that way. I still enjoy hearing songs off Evermore every now and then. Lewis is spot on about the cult of swifties though, the cultural phenomenon of celebrity adoration needs to die out and fast...
@Ghostiification well I mean she's the most popular artist in the world rn so like... I guess. Doesn't fit my taste but I'm a punk and folk listener so... it wouldn't
I live in Missouri and everyone hates her because she's dating the football guy lol "bet he's thinking about his girlfriend that's why he's dropping passes." man what?
I love Taylor Swift, and honestly Sips' overrated comment triggered me more. Lewis is right about swifties, a lot of them are unhinged and go wayyy too far to defend her. As for Pyrion, based take as always (slay king ✨️)
Kinda agree with Sips a lot never found her to be particulary good or intresting just not my brand of music. Not denying that shes unskilled or not, I just fight her highly boring really. Her fans on the other hand well they are completely unhinged a lot of them but thats not even rare these days...
There are 3 levels of Taylor Swift fans. 1- Insane cult fanatics, 2- normal fans who love her and her music (me), 3- those who enjoy her music. However, no different than any other fanbase with a lot of fans. She actually tries to do good too, like getting people to vote
While I commend the fans who are chill, and I have nothing against Taylor Swift, I'm sure she's an understanding and awesome person. The cult side of Swifties are beyond just your run of the mill "fanbase with a lot of fans". For example, MeatCanyon makes one animated video, a thing he does to everyone and portrays some sort of social trend, while making the grossest, most grotesque art to accompany it in a humourous way. He got targetted on Twitter wishing death upon him, constant fat shaming (not that he cares) from #NoBullying accounts, and absolutely WILD voodoo shit I've never seen before, like as if Taylor Swift could somehow incite sorcery on all who paint her in a negative light. Now obviously a lot of these accounts are literal children, but I saw a surprising amount coming from dudes in their mid twenties to late thirties. Not only that, the amount of times I'm doomscrolling reddit r/all or someth and come across these weird cult 'Ring around the Rosy' type of thing, where they're just circling around doing some ritual before a Swift concert, is such odd behaviour, granted that's pretty tame of all the things they could be doing it's still fucking weird lol. I should reiterate that none of this reflects on Taylor Swift, at least I don't think she's ever promoted this behaviour, I'm not sure how it began. She seems like the most normal of all major high profile celebrities, well from an outsider's POV idk enough about her to be fair.
@@mischief.brewed She kinda needs a jet unfortunately. It would be impossible for her to travel anywhere if Swifies or the media knew where she was or was going. Not that I consider any of that an excuse.
@alecjahn that's a fair enough point. I'd argue there's definitely an alternative especially for all those like 15 minute flights but I can't think of one immediately
One important point I would say is that Taylor Swift fans are predominantly female, so the connotation with 'simp' meaning like 'romantically/sexually attracted' may not necessarily be true for many Swift fans. Other than that, I can believe that fans would follow on mass to what she says and dislikes.
Nah, he just doesn't listen to pop music. If you do, that's cool, no shade. But these days, unless you're going out of your way to listen to it, it's easy to avoid listening to pop music. The only reason I know of any recent pop songs in the last decade is because my wife sometimes exercises to them in the other room. If you asked me the names/lyrics/artists of those songs I couldn't tell you. I have other genres I listen to, and they're all I care about. I listen to pop music as much as I listen to country or jazz.@@tigrafale4610
@@Fredy_The_Yeti Unfortunately you've probably heard more than that and didn't know it. At least that's my experience. So much pop music sounds the same I just randomly realized some song in the grocery store was her and I had heard it a bunch of times in public before that.
I don't know anything about her music but I'm glad she uses her platform to vocally support Democratic politicians against the absolute clown show that is the modern Republican party. For that I have some respect for her. When country musicians (like Garth Brooks and Dixie Chicks) show any left-leaning tendencies even their biggest conservative supporters will happily drop them like yesterday's news.
Taylor Swift is the Bob Dylan of her generation. Her musical evolution, personal song writing, and massive following are very similar to his. this clip is great, btw.
Lewis’s life expectancy down 30 years
pyrion being a taylor swift fan was not something i was expecting😂
He lives in a house with what... 2-3 girls and his wife? There are some things you cannot escape.
@@MindMessed damn i didnt even think about that😂poor pyrion😂

Sure she's great - but she's undoubtedly overrated. And Lewis characterisation of her "swifties" is accurate. Fandoms verge on cults sometimes...
not sometimes, but all the time, the word fan and fandom comes from the word fanatic...
Any time I’ve seen the term fandom anywhere online I’ve known to stay well away
@@aleuttrel2260 and yet its meaning has changed...
Taylor Swift would easily win a footrace against Taylor Slow
But what about Carpenter Swift?
@@EmperorDarthSidious66 I think Cobbler Swift probably is the best one to win in a foot race though.
Cheers for that, a dad joke , that genuinely made me lol.
Lewis being INCREDIBLY based

freakin well said mate, couldn't say it better myself. Actually, I'm probably gonna steal this next time I want to sound smart at the pub 🤣
Surprisingly based Lewis take
I dont think i could name a Swift song with a gun to my head but like people seem to like her.... so she must be alright
Just saying that if someone is liked by others doesn't mean they'd be "alright".
@Ghostiification well I mean she's the most popular artist in the world rn so like... I guess. Doesn't fit my taste but I'm a punk and folk listener so... it wouldn't
I think I've only heard "Shake It Off". But my *impression* of Taylor Swift makes me agree with Pyrion 100%.
Taylor Swift is the YA genre of music
and that’s okay

Simp has kinda just evolved into 'ass kisser' basically, doesn't need to be sexual/romantic. At least in off the cuff contexts like this

MeatCanyon has a great animated video on Taylor Swift. In that video, Swift is like a hivemind that controls all the fans around her haha.
I'd say Taylor Swift is more comparable to Michael Jackson than Madonna in terms of talent/fame. Lady Gaga is more of the next Gen Madonna.
Can't stand her at all. She should have stuck with country tbh
