Very thoughtful factor analysis of criteria for stove performance and selection of any brand/model of stove.
    Thank you.

If you carefully read the instructions, it's actually written about the muzzle. I saw from your video. In your first part video (1:35) under point 6 in the instructions it says: 1 # muzzle for gassoline / gas and 2 # muzzle for diesel oil.

hi,in( prt 1video,) when you read the instructions,it clearly tells you, that nozzel 1 is for petrol and gas, nozzel 2 is for diesel, both above a certain grade, during unboxing you made no mention of the stove build quality being poor,(that's when you should have pointed out you thought the metal housing was substandard) and finally the chinese stove is priced 4 time's cheaper than the top brand's, do the top brand's perform 4 times better,i think if you get a half dozen trips out of it,its more than worth the price, are you sure your being fair,ps,if that bit of the stove did break, see littlebitworks, video

That metal is solid piece, you can jump on it. There is 0.30 and 0.35 jet that comes with it. Use 0.30 jet for regulal fuel that you put in your car. I use it for my motorcycle camping trips and works very well. Leaves almost no soot on your pots/pans, Only issue i had with it is leaky pump and pump valve. So i replaced all o rings on it, since then no problems for more than 100 days of cooking, not just boiling water, but serious cooking (2-3 hours of burning every time), so...

I have the same one. It is configured by default for white gas/unleaded gas. Mine came with 2 additional nozzles. One is for diesel the other for alcohol. I've been using diesel on mine and it works fine.

you are 100% right on that stove case metal. it is cheap die cast stuff, and mine has fractures around the rivets holding the legs on.

This has been a darn good stove for a whole lot of people. Decent stove. Yes better out there. But this is a working stove.

I rely on my SVEA 123 even over your favorite MSR It has one moving part and was the first backpack stove to summit Everest although now everything has done it. To each their own but I will stick with what I have been using for the last 50 years and then pass it on to my boys. One of them now uses a whisper light and the other uses a Primus - OmniFuel. They are twins and don’t use the exact same gear and that’s why they make different brands of everything. To each their own.

Wise words. I purchased a very early primus omnifuel from ebay. As soon as I got it, I stripped it, cleaned it and serviced it, replacing every filter and gasket in the pump and burner. Very cheap as good as new and will last me for years. Thanks for your postings Sir, I very much enjoy them.

First, at a glance there is a machined edge and it looks like cast steel to me and I worked in a machine shop. Second, a quick Web search would have revealed that UK users are running this on paraffin, methyl alcohol, diesel, gasoline. ....

Msr has a plastic pump handle lol. 3-4 times the cost also... Cheap one has a metal pump handle. Interesting you didn't mention that.

There is one think all other stoves do not do what this stove can - work on alcohol. The only fuel you can make yourself.

Im not sure if the correct nozzle was used in the boil test, but a 6 min plus boil time would have been a deal breaker for me.
If it can barley boil water in nice weather what will it likely do in the field when its cold, and blustery?
Time will tell whether the stove body has any issues or not.
Id bet that performance and reliability are going to be key issues.

With some meth spirits in the burner cup, I think it will prime and work with kerosene/paraffin, but the question with most roarer burners, the flame control is always a bit iffy when it comes to low/simmering. Worth doing a follow-up vid on that. Great videos!

Hi, been watching for a while, I am wondering about finding an EMERGENCY stove that will burn unleaded gas, propane, kerosene, diesel fuel, and maybe alcohol. In other words just about any fuel you can find while scavenging in an area or society that has failed due to catastrophe. Have you done a review of such a stove or know of one? Thanks, keep the video coming. 8-)

BigFireDave MSR whisperlite universal. please check the description box on this video I believe I have a link to the Amazon where you can purchase that stove. I have many videos on that stove on my MSR playlist on my channel so please feel free to check that out as well

BigFireDave whisperlite universal will run heavy oil fuels (kerosene type) light fuel (gasoline type) and butane blend as well as butane from an adapter. I personally also like the primus omnifuel. It will burn the same type fuels. Alcohol is more problematic. There are few pressure stoves that burn alcohol. The Optimus 111t and the Optimus 11 explorer. Both of these are long discontinued. Personally I've never been impressed with the 111t on alcohol. It runs through fuel very quickly. Maybe a trangia multifuel setup with a standard alcohol burner would fit your requirements.

BigFireDave ironically, I got the reviewed stove above, purely for the feed tube the charger tube and the burner bell so I could jerry rig it to fit in the trangia windshield and Base for use with other fuels when cooking. ita easy to fit a couple of pieces of springy steel under the bell to simulate the trangia gas/liquid pressure burners.

BigFireDave this thing will burn anything orifice 1 light fuels, the spare is for diesel

BigFireDave I was just at REI the other day and this burner aside from the frame itself with legs attached appears to be for all purposes identical to the MSR extreme I like the all metal pump which appears to be fairly well built inside and out as far as where are they shaving costs as a machinist I can see where they're shaving costs but none of it's functional take it apart clean it give it proper maintenance before using it I don't see any problems with this stove to my eyes without doing any hardness tests the luster does not look like pot metal it looks like cast steel probably recycled could even be raw iron it's pretty heavy

Basically get a nice used stove on Ebay. Get a repair kit and replace the parts that wear out while getting to know your stove. Id rather have great used stove made in Washington State vs something Fresh Off the Boat. This is just my option. This is just something that is too dangerous to try and save money while trying to buy new. Store sales on stoves have low markdowns almost never happen. If the wrong part fails, you have a bomb. Do you really want to trust your life with bargain? There's spending time shopping around for something nice that's used, and there's new on the cheap.
