why did you quit making videos....you got a lot of potential and I stumbled upon this video in a search and was shocked to see you at only 700 subs....

      That's probably why 😅
I made youtube videos on the side, and I have too many side projects. So it was always a question of effort and reward. Some other things, like taking up music after a 15-year break, felt more rewarding these past couple of years. But I do have some videos filmed! And I hope to release them soon :)

Thanks for this video. I'm working to get to this type of video but don't have a lot of space in my house. I'm not thrilled (though not horrified) about the previous talking head videos I've done, but I want to use my wide angle iPhone camera with a f/1.8 aperture for my next set of videos. I already use the SmartLav+ and think it's great.

You can do it! If it makes you feel better, we downsized right before the pandemic so literally every recent video of mine is shot in the living room. (Btw, get the fluffy windscreen for Smartlav, it really helps when you're filming outside :)) On a different note, I've only discovered geocaching recently and it's SO FUN!

@@JanArsenovic enjoy geocaching! It's a lot of fun and you can do it anywhere! I'm still working out my indoor setup a month after I left that message but I need to get it figured out this week so I can create a Kickstarter launch video. I've made some progress though. I use Filmic for my iPhone camera app but it's tricky because you can only control the focus with the main camera (not selfie camera) which makes it tricky for talking head videos, but you can use a remote app from ANOTHER phone to control it, and then ANOTHER device for the SmartLav+! Complicated stuff but fun. :-)

@@GeoElmoGeocaching Honestly, I wouldn't advise Filmic at all if you're filming yourself! Just the regular camera app (plus the back camera) should do the trick - the computational stuff is pretty good and everybody's so used to seeing that image that nobody would mind. :)

This is a great video, it’s a pity you are not making more videos 😢

good video, I use the DJI osmo mobile 3 with a rode videomicro fixed to the mobile 3 with a bracket. I have the iPhone 13 pro max and the front screen is really good so that is what I use.

Very helpful video. I understand your recommendation of the back camera, since it is higher quality than the front camera, but then how do you see yourself as you shoot? How can you make sure your head is in the right place in the frame, your eyes are making contact with the camera, etc. if you can’t see what’s being recorded?

    • @JanArsenovic

Just by recording a short test before you actually start! I mean, if in a rush I'll just find good light and use the front camera, but in a setup like this, there's enough time to figure it out :)
