Have you actually weighed the coin yet? Does it weigh close to the mark?
@Mindbleach It was sand blasted to give a matte type finish compared to the polished features. You can clearly see them vacuuming up the garnet when they lifted the tape.
that creature on the coin looks very life-like. So does the kangaroo.
It's all fun and games until Doctor Doom shows up to steal the thing.
It's worth it's weight in gold for sure!

great idea, and a pleasant concept for an Australian mint. But the music for the video makes the subject sound as impressive as a casual walk into a tourist shop. Filmmakers, please choose better!

For a 'refined' piece of 'currency-art', such as this coin, it might have proven worthwhile for the mint to choose theme music for the video that was perhaps a bit more appropriate for the occasion, don't you think?
