He's a HOFer bc he's a game changer, you can name a lot of HOF receivers with no rings, but he impacted the Patriots greatly and is a main reason behind us winning key games and kept our dynasty going for so long, but Patriots haters are just gonna hate
I don't think a slot guy should have the stats as a number 1 wideout. He was about moving the chains to keep drives alive. He was tough as nails and played slot better than anyone in the league at that time. If key players were hurt he would step up and help his team. I rather have SB MVP than a PB any day of the week. If you grade HoF on just stats then he don't get in, but if you grade him for making huge plays on the biggest stage when it matters most then he gets in.
Regardless of peoples opinions this guy was the one you wanted in crunch time on the biggest stages. I would take him over a bunch of HOF receivers and The definition of a team player!
Agreed, the guy just retired, he played his guts out for 12 years, and now there's a segment immediately on what he's not, instead of focusing on his contributions.
Missing games that equate to two seasons and not having 10000 receiving yards for his career hurts his chances. Calvin Johnson did more in that time in the regular season for a horrendous franchise.
Put up Calvin Johnson's numbers in the playoffs against Julian Edelman oh that's right Calvin Johnson was never in the playoffs. Calvin Johnson was the only received on the team that the quarterbacks throw to that's why he had so many yards and touchdowns in the regular season. Tom Brady would use 10 different players during the course of a game to throw the football to. While most quarterbacks used four or five different players. Tom Brady has thrown nine passes to Mike vrabel a defensive player on the New England Patriots he has nine touchdowns.
At least Eli has some kind of regular season stats compiled. Julian Edelman has 36 career tds and 6000 yds lol just for reference chad johnson has like 11000 yds and 65 tds..let alone cris carter who barely got in with 130 tds
Bill Belichik rushed to offer Julian Edelman the absolute highest praise he could possibly bestow on a player, indicating it was a privilege to have coached him. But he was premature. He should have waited for Nick Wright's take, a take that focused on Edelman's regular season above average statistical performance and downplayed or ignored every single thing that made Edelman a great player. After all who is better positioned to make a assessment, the league's greatest, most successful coach or a 'guy' with cute, mildly amusing takes on TV who is a shill for his hometown team?

How to compare 400 against tankers and 200 against legion of boom in the playofs? There are some HOFs which stats pumped against tanking teams. There are HOFs which never play in conference Championship Game not mention SBL.
right off the bat, nick sayin what ive been saying. this is absolutely unfair to edelman to even bring it up. why can't we just fondly remember what he's done and the work he's put in without having to talk about the HoF.
Julian Edelman has the third most touchdown catches from Tom Brady. That's really good considering Tom Brady has thrown a touchdown to 98 different players.
Nick is right though, the barrier of entry to the NFL Hall of Fame is very high. To put things in perspective, Hines Ward isn't in the Hall of Fame and he has four pro Bowl selections, two Super Bowl wins and a Super Bowl MVP. And over 11,000 yards receiving.
It’s funny, guys get in with having almost no post season numbers which is fine. But if you have literally the 2nd best post season numbers you can’t get in because you have mid reg season numbers? Make it make sense
I can't stand the "look at the playoff numbers" argument. If he wasn't on the patriots he wouldn't be in the playoffs ery year. So stupid. Great player not a hall of famer. Not even close.
Lynn Swann played in a different era the NFL is and has been a passing league for at least the last 25 years QB and receiver dominated rules changed to favor offense. The running back position has been devalued because of all the passing Lynn Swann played when running was the first option not all this throwing the football and defenses could actually play defense and QB and receivers were not so protected .
Realistically theres certainly worse players in the HOF but its the HOF not the Hall of Very Good. What the HOF does poorly is not make it more grade selective in the first place, there should be a WR HOF a RB HOF etc and make it positional because alot of great players get/got overlooked by either playing on bad times or overshadowed by another HOF team mate.
I don't think Edelman is a Hall of Famer but the Derek Fisher comparison is weak. As they showed Edelman was 2nd in both receptions and yards for the postseason. Fisher isn't second for anything when it comes to the NBA postseason. So while neither is a Hall of Famer I think Edelman is much closer than Fisher.
I bet Jules don't care wheter if he is in or not. The guy was a savage. The only thing mattered him to give it all on every single snap. He did that for 12 seasons. That's a college qb my friends. Is he a HoFer? Probably not. Legend? Yeah. For me, that's enough. Was a joy to watch him every single time. Who the f*ck cares about pro bowls and the HoF? He made a lot of Pro bowlers and first ballot HoFers cry every single year. Football is about winning. Not stats.
Nick wrong strikes again. If Edelman doesn't then there are alot of receivers that need to come out. His yards and catches are in games and situations that meant something . They were in most cases pivotal to the outcomes. Not to mention what three Super Bowl rings.
I don't always like or agree with Nick - but on this he is dead on. Colin Cowherd - to my amazement - is all in on this. THIS is why real qualified HOFers - like Shannon Sharpe - complain about the deterioration of the qualifications for HOF. How Bill Cowher got in - beyond his ability to tell funny stories to sportswriters in bars - just one example of this. Give me a break.
All these NFL experts want to put Eli Manning into the Hall of Fame because of two playoff runs. What did Eli Manning do in the regular season 117-117 record. Led the league three times in interceptions. They want to base Eli Manning career on the playoffs but won't do the same thing for Julian Edelman with his playoffs numbers. Sounds like a double standard because of Eli's last name.
Jules gets in the Patriots HOF, the Football HOF he won't be able to make....but let me paint the picture.....7th round draft pick (nobody wanted him), a QB coming out of Kent State......switched positions....has multiple punt return TDs, has a defensive TD, has many tackles, defensive coverages, even a clutch TD pass in the playoffs....played any position his coach assigned him on.....we haven't even gotten to his offensive production, which is limited because he was part of a dynasty where he played a role and didnt put up garbage time stats....nothing but clutch in the postseason, one of the clutchest WRs in the playoffs behind the GOAT Jerry Rice.....never made the pro bowl, never was a top 5 or even top 10 WR of his time (fantasy owners might say he was a PPR machine)....3x SB Champ (was clutch/pivotal in every single SB, including multiple hard nosed 3rd down conversions to go along with the go-ahead TD that gave them the lead for good against the Seahawks), SB MVP as he shredded a top ranked Rams defense, one of the greatest Super Bowl catches against the Falcons in the biggest comeback in the history of the sport...a 3rd down MACHINE regular/post season.....a short undervalued white guy thats tough as nails...a leader on the sidelines and in the huddle....one of the best slot WRs ever.....he won't get in to the Football HOF, but you better believe he will go down as one of the greatest underdog stories in all sports, RELENTLESS......he did EVERYTHING for his team........that's a Hall of Famer to me.....feel free to add anything i missed or give your take.....
So empty stats are more important than playoff contributions? Edelman didn't play that many regular season games to pad his stats. He was one of the top 5 players in the second Pats dynasty that resulted in 3 SB wins in 5 years. He should be considered because stats aren't everything.
Hey Nick put up the difference between Julian Edelman and Hines Ward's in the playoffs Edelman wins hands down it's the playoffs that matter most that's why you're trying to put Eli Manning in the Hall of Fame Nick

They shouldn't have done this segment , rather just give this man his respect.
Preach
Agreed, the guy just retired, he played his guts out for 12 years, and now there's a segment immediately on what he's not, instead of focusing on his contributions.
Troy Brown was returning punts, playing slot receiver and nickel cornerback for the Patriots during their first three Super Bowls
They laughing at thought of it
😆 he had a career but Canton....
Chill...chill....
Yes. Patriots ring of Honor
Congrats to him though. No doubt.
Better players aren’t in, no he’s not a HOF, stop this please
Derek fisher is the perfect comparison
The most he should be in the Hall is the ball that he made that wild circus catch with in Super Bowl LI. That should be it.
Don't say this to Edelman supporters because I can say David Tyree should be in because of the helmet catch
@@goldwerewolf8651 Yeah, which is stupid. Edelman deserves a place in Canton, just not a bust.
If AB doesn’t sign in Tampa , guess who is waiting in the wings ? 😂.
Not Jules. That knee is done 🥺
Jules failed his physical. He retired because of injury.
@@PeteringYT gotcha !! I’m just thinking of how gronk came out of retirement. 😂. Jules might work hard and be ready physically by July ! 😂. We will 👀.
@@StandingInTheGAPMinistriesInc Gronk heard he was about to be traded to Detroit and retired LMAO
Hilarious.
I agree with Nick, but i wouldn't be surprised if he got in just because playoff stats.. i feel like this is a bit similar to Eli
Good point
At least Eli has some kind of regular season stats compiled. Julian Edelman has 36 career tds and 6000 yds lol just for reference chad johnson has like 11000 yds and 65 tds..let alone cris carter who barely got in with 130 tds
Probably the only time I can agree with Nick Wright.
I feel like Nick talking to Kevin when I talk to my brother about Edelman
Bill Belichik rushed to offer Julian Edelman the absolute highest praise he could possibly bestow on a player, indicating it was a privilege to have coached him. But he was premature. He should have waited for Nick Wright's take, a take that focused on Edelman's regular season above average statistical performance and downplayed or ignored every single thing that made Edelman a great player. After all who is better positioned to make a assessment, the league's greatest, most successful coach or a 'guy' with cute, mildly amusing takes on TV who is a shill for his hometown team?
Who you still obviously watch and take note from.. Nick put up stats so he just didn't put up some cute take You guys want him in so bad but there are other deserving players more than him He was lucky to play with someone like Tom Brady otherwise we wouldn't be talking about this cat...
@@blacopsassassin2771 I don't care if he's in. I'm not from Boston and it's only a sports hall of fame! But I do care about the game & about data. Data can be qualitative or quantitative. The key is to use the right metrics, not just some undifferentiated thing called "stats". Edelman made the biggest plays in the biggest games for years. That counts for a lot. Many better than him couldn't do what he did consistently on the biggest stage. Production from 16 games a year is matters for sure. But context is EVERYTHING!
@@mitchbernard1751 But the one element you are missing bro he had
TOM BRADY THE GOAT AND BELICHECK.. He would be nowhere near what he has if it wasn't for those two guys So you got to factor that into also correct...,??
@@blacopsassassin2771 Agreed! It's an undeniable part of his context. Do you think any less of Reggie Wayne because he played his whole career with Peyton Manning?
@@mitchbernard1751 no I don't..
Nick just mad cuz Edelman made fun of his hairline 😂😂
His career was a hall of fame story, Maybe it will make a great movie someday... But it was not good enough to make it in to the hall of fame. If you have to debate if he should get in, then it’s a no. For example: Is anyone going to debate if Aaron Donald is going to be a hall of famer?
They're really dumbing down the football HOF criteria. First Eli and now this.
Eli is a 4x pro bowler and top 10 all time in stats
If you believe Edelman is a hall of fame football player then you do not know anything about sports let alone football. Their are athletes who are historically way better then Julian Edelman and they are not in the Hall of Fame so Everyone who knows sports let alone football knows Edelman is not even in the ball park of a hall of famer
As a died hard Pats fan I’ve watched and loved Jules all his career he Should 100% be in the Patriots Hall of fame but not the NFL. that’s Facts. It’s a conversation to be had still.
It’s not a conversation lmao. Gtfoh 😂 he literally never made a pro bowl much less an all pro team
Julian Edelman, with the legendary Tom Brady, has 36 career receiving touchdowns. I 100% agree with you. At best, he's a 1-time finalist.
@@salvatoresultana4058 He is second only to jerry rice in playoffs receptions sir. I said his not but it’s a conversation he did things some receiver have never done. He was a huge reason we won some Superbowls that counts for something.
@@salvatoresultana4058 If the Hall of fame was all about stats T.O Would have made the H.O.F the first time.
@@tracyrhodes5930 TO didn't make the hall of fame because of his personality. That's not the best example.
Look at Hines Ward's numbers compared to Julian edelman's numbers! It's crazy Hines Ward is not in the Hall of Fame look at other receivers who made the Hall of Fame and Hines Ward beats them in all stats go look! And Hines Ward deserves it he has two super bowl rings!!
Julian edelman's job was getting first downs between the twenty yard lines that's the job of a slot receiver TDS were a bonus 2nd in receiving yards in the playoffs only to Jerry Rice 1 super bowl MVP 3x super bowl champion Julian Edelman has the third most receptions in the playoffs in NFL history Julian Edelman beats Hines Ward in receptions and total yards in the playoffs
Max has never been more right in his entire life than in this segment. Take advantage and enjoy it max
Derek fisher of the NFL good comparison
Am I missing why Ward isn’t considered a strong contender for the HOF?
#11 is a slot receiver and should be compared to other slot receivers, not wide receivers! Dare Nick to go over the middle and get hammered and still hold on to the ball. Julian is one of the toughest offensive players to ever play the game.
Lynn Swann 336 rec 5462 yards 51 TD is a Hall of Famer. Do you think it had anything to do with the fact he played on a DYNASTY and made clutch catches in the postseason?
He played in the 70s and Edelman played on the 2010s. That’s different.
Nothing wrong with telling the man that he had a good career, but not a hall of famer.
If people don't consider Brandon a Hall of Famer, this discussion should even be had. It's honestly disrespectful to everybody.
How to compare 400 against tankers and 200 against legion of boom in the playofs? There are some HOFs which stats pumped against tanking teams. There are HOFs which never play in conference Championship Game not mention SBL.
Nick Wright shouldn’t even be allowed to have an opinion
right off the bat, nick sayin what ive been saying. this is absolutely unfair to edelman to even bring it up. why can't we just fondly remember what he's done and the work he's put in without having to talk about the HoF.
Julian Edelman has the third most touchdown catches from Tom Brady. That's really good considering Tom Brady has thrown a touchdown to 98 different players.
someone that looks like tom green saying if a football player does or does not belong in the HOF.
Best receivers of all time:
1.) Julian Edelman on 3rd down
2.) Jerry Rice
I know this is a joke. But, it actually hurt my soul to read your comment.
Boy....Nick and his numbers cain't be faded! As Shaq said..."just get the rebounds fellas Kobie's not passin."
If you’re a football analyst calling him a HoFer you shouldn’t have your job. Not even being offensive it’s just the truth.
If there’s something called the Playoff Hall of Fame, sure, but there are a lot of guys that should be in the Hall of Fame at his level.
He has more chance than Nick Wight making it in as media representative
"ANOTHER SCRAPPY WHITE GUY" LMAO.............Nick is in rare form. That was hysterical!
I can't stand the "look at the playoff numbers" argument. If he wasn't on the patriots he wouldn't be in the playoffs ery year. So stupid. Great player not a hall of famer. Not even close.
Elderman is in the Patriots Hall of Fame much higher than any other hall !
Lynn Swann played in a different era the NFL is and has been a passing league for at least the last 25 years QB and receiver dominated rules changed to favor offense. The running back position has been devalued because of all the passing Lynn Swann played when running was the first option not all this throwing the football and defenses could actually play defense and QB and receivers were not so protected .
not a valid debate to have....dont ever bring this up again.pls
Realistically theres certainly worse players in the HOF but its the HOF not the Hall of Very Good. What the HOF does poorly is not make it more grade selective in the first place, there should be a WR HOF a RB HOF etc and make it positional because alot of great players get/got overlooked by either playing on bad times or overshadowed by another HOF team mate.
Todd Pick L
@@iceburgess461 How am i taking an L i literally say he shouldnt be in the HOF lol.
Edelman shined in the brightest lights. Don't let stats overshadow Edelman's greatness.
Exactly. But hof is selected through regular season stats mostly. I am sick of people dissing the former SB MVP.
Second greatest post season receiver ever! Fisher was not the second greatest post season point guard. Completely different.
He really getting rewards for being regular
I don't think Edelman is a Hall of Famer but the Derek Fisher comparison is weak. As they showed Edelman was 2nd in both receptions and yards for the postseason. Fisher isn't second for anything when it comes to the NBA postseason. So while neither is a Hall of Famer I think Edelman is much closer than Fisher.
Unfortunately there’s no “playoff” HOF.
When was the last time Derek Fisher won NBA finals MVP?
Like most things Nick wrong says. I respectfully disagree. I will say that there are those in the HOF that have done far less.
He will in up with the bucs watch
I discounted everything Nick said after he put MAHOMES as GOAT after 2 years
He never did that. He said he got GOAT potential.
that might true but i cant discount this take
Nick Wright was the guy who said mahomes is already a hall of famer...
Fade Away L
I bet Jules don't care wheter if he is in or not. The guy was a savage. The only thing mattered him to give it all on every single snap. He did that for 12 seasons. That's a college qb my friends. Is he a HoFer? Probably not. Legend? Yeah. For me, that's enough. Was a joy to watch him every single time. Who the f*ck cares about pro bowls and the HoF? He made a lot of Pro bowlers and first ballot HoFers cry every single year. Football is about winning. Not stats.
Still skipping every time Marshall talks
Brandon Marshall had 970 catches for 12,351 yards and scored 83 touchdowns and 6 Pro Bowls? Should he go to the Hall of fame?
All these NFL experts want to put Eli Manning into the Hall of Fame because of two playoff runs. What did Eli Manning do in the regular season 117-117 record. Led the league three times in interceptions. They want to base Eli Manning career on the playoffs but won't do the same thing for Julian Edelman with his playoffs numbers. Sounds like a double standard because of Eli's last name.
Brady brought him into the conversation
HEY EVERYBODY NICK FINALLY GETS ONE RIGHT 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So disrespectful!!
Not only should post season be part of any Hall of Fame discussion... it should count MORE than regular season. As it always does.

so is joe flacco a HOF?

He's miles away from Jerry Rice
But 2nd to Rice in post season yards and a SB MVP and 3 rings
So empty stats are more important than playoff contributions? Edelman didn't play that many regular season games to pad his stats. He was one of the top 5 players in the second Pats dynasty that resulted in 3 SB wins in 5 years. He should be considered because stats aren't everything.
This is important. The Pats were usually running clock in the 4th quarter and not needing to score. When they did need to 12 --> 11
He's not but if you let eli in he should get in. Even though I personally think neither is.
Hey Nick put up the difference between Julian Edelman and Hines Ward's in the playoffs Edelman wins hands down it's the playoffs that matter most that's why you're trying to put Eli Manning in the Hall of Fame Nick
Nick Wright...
Isnt that the same guy who said mahomes is already a hall of famer
Exactly
Really, Nick. How about Eli Manning 117-117 record in 16 seasons. Won more than 10 or more games in a season only 5 times . 7 losing seasons & 2 .500 seasons. With the logic of Nick , Eli will not be in the HOF.
He is tied for wins with Montana and everyone above him is or will be in the hall. He gets in because you can't tell the story of the NFL without him.
Edelman never lead white wide receivers in receiving yards over the course of a season in his entire career. He had a great career but this question is laughable.
yall still acting like he isn't gonna end up in Tampa Bay.
NFL just destroys NBA when it comes to ratings, so why are we making NBA comparisons to NFL. Not even on the same level.
Edelman play 70 less games than Hines Ward.
I think if edleman gives it another 3 get some numbers raised then he golden
Hey if there were separate hall of fames for post seasons he’s definitely gonna be like a first-ballot hall of fame. But unfortunately for him that doesn’t exist lmao

This reporters neck isn’t as thick as Julian’s forearm.
