There are a few, but would like to see something along the lines of XCOM 2 not the first one. I’ve tried wasteland 2 and it’s navigation is overly complicated due to the port from PC.
This game has a very Settlers-esque appeal, which I like. Going on the maybe stack. It is the type of RTS that was missing in the Switch lineup. Perhaps a C&C (remastered?)-type version for the Switch would also be nice.
i would love to see age of empire online lol , but i see no possibility it happen since no one seems to care lol , there is a private server and i guess its already dieing . c&c and c&c red alert would be nice . Something new would be nice but these day rts seems all the same (well those like warcraft i mean)

Kind of like a modern-day Command and Conquer game... But I do hope the actual command & Conquer game comes to Nintendo switch at some point... call it Nostalgia or whatever but I used to play the hell out of that back in the day
I never played a game like this before and a friend begged me to try this. So glad I did. It is extremely addictive and I still find myself going back even today just to play a map or two. It's brilliant but at times very unforgiving. It will frustrate you but when you finally beat a hard map the feel of accomplishment is so gratifying.
Same with Command & Conquer. Even CNC remastered with touch screen support would be awesomeness. AoE is another contender and throw in local multiplayer and rts on the go would be a gamechanger

well there is the warcraft 3 remaster in development and some kind of rumor about wow getting a mobile version , and since blizzard is shit at the moment i would love to see blizard coming to switch, would replay almost everything . And we already got diablo 3
This reminds me of games like Age of Empires. I've always personally preferred RTS as opposed to TBS. Turn base strategy was always like virtual chess, it's a methodical thinking mans game. Whereas real time strategy has a natural flow, but is less so strategic & more so pace based, allowing you to jump in & out with relative ease. Definitely a future purchase for me.
Being too used to Age of Empires and Starcraft on PC, I can't play RTS on console. TBS is way better for my taste, so Civ6 filled that hole completely for me. Anyway good to see more of each genre in our wee Switches
Sergio PM I play those games too, but once I had Committed and Conquer for PlayStation 1 & 3. You get really fast on the controller and it became a lot of fun.

That text looks like it may cause (Fire emblem) problems in portable mode. Shame about the stutter too. Hopefully they will patch these issues like you said Glen. Music seems nice 👍
I bought it today. I didn’t notice any major performance drops. The frame rate is bit lower I guess on zoom out, but really it’s hard to notice during the gameplay.
@@Twofirmfeet1024 I play it everyday. Only on skirmish mode. It’s really fun. Unfortunately it crashed 2 times and there is no auto save mode so I lost my progress. But anyway it was already lost game XD I also noticed that the frame rate drops on endgame. When I had tons of units it was bad, but still playable. There is one annoying bug, when u have two buildings next to each other the context menu doesn’t change on hover, u need to hover out and hover in to the building. Anyway the game is really worth that money imho. The gameplay is more dynamic then civ6 because it’s real-time. I think I like it more than civ6, it’s really easy to learn but hard to master. The civ on the other hand overwhelmed me with everything and I casually play it on Lan parties with my friends. Surviving the winter and enemies attacks is really hard. To sum up, it’s fun, enjoyable, and can be tough. I only managed to win 1 game on normal, everything on hard I lost, but still I felt it was a great gameplay I got some lessons to use in the future gameplays.
Funny truth, I fall asleep playing Civilization. But have never playing command and conquer, StarCraft, Tropico, railroad tycoon or SimCity, (yes I'm that old, ps1). I'm buying this game hoping it's more like those, versus Civilization.
I appreciate your thoughts on people who are put off by performance to still consider the game for it's better qualities. I am one of those like I don't want to spend money to play a game that feels broke, but in the same breath I really love a good story or a game that I can play/re-play for ages and get my moneys worth out of it. Lol I just watched and commented on the Darksiders 2 review asking about patch updates in the future...but now thinking...you know it might have issues, but it might also be worth buying anyways because I really does look like a great game.

I'm essentially looking for an RTS for Switch that plays like Warcraft. Is this the closest game for that experience? Not a fan of Civ titles personally.

This is a good game from where I am seeing this right now. RTS genre is quite hard for the switch currently because the port from other consoles limited the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch. Most the genre had not optimized the game for touchscreen play which in my opinion, is such a waste. The Nintendo Switch is a powerful tool and it should be that the RTS genre be the one flourishing. But we might have to wait for a long time before this happens.
The only RTS i'd buy on switch is Battle for Middle Earth II, god that game has my childhood going. Besides that game the genre is not really for me, and of I'd pick it up I'd rather pick it up on PC. As always, great review though!
This would have been a definite buy for me except for the tiny text issue. I have too many games that are almost unplayable in handheld mode already; so going to pass on this unless they patch it for a fix. Not sure why developers that port games do not consider that we want to play them on the go. Another great video though, thanks.
@@SwitchUpYt I guess my point is it should be playable in whichever mode I choose. I should not be limited to playing some games (visually) easily only in one mode, but struggling in the other mode. Hoping devs in general address this with their games where needed.
Just got it for under $10 on sale, it's my first rts game, thought I'd try it for the price. Tried once lost couple hours in single player, gonna keep trying. Hope I grow to enjoy it and perhaps more like it....that's how dead cells got me into both pixel art and side scrollers, no joke.
Have you played Hollow Knight? It's a side scroller souls like game. Not only is it beautiful and challenging its also fun as hell. There is a story but you have to find it. It's possible to beat the game learning little but also possible to beat it learning deep lore.
How aggressive are the enemies? The game looks like a clone of The Settlers to me, so it pretty much comes down to whether the enemies will attack or not. I love that they don't in The Settlers, as it lets me take my time and just enjoy the game.
Why most games don't allow an option to change the scale for on screen text I do not know. I stopped playing Diablo because in handheld it was impossible for me to read. Anyways, good vid but not a game for me.
Fantastic video , covered everything i wpuld wanr to know about It looks half decent, no microtransactions to see (rare for a rts on mobile) switch deffo needs more rts. And i love anything norse...if only puzzlequest would stop me for gaming anything else!
I really like the game. The only thing i would ask for is that each of the clan's had different looking building and clothes representing their animal totem. Great game though.

It is quite similar in that they are both real time strategy games. I haven’t played Warcraft II myself so cannot say with complete certainty, but they are the same genre for sure. Glen

This games alright, but it's so unpopular online...and if you manage to find one game worldwide you usually end up getting kicked....don't buy waste of time

Im right there with you. My first experience with both starcraft and command and conquer was in the N64 so I would love to be able to play them again on a Nintendo platform.

Good review. I love RTS games but can't see me playing this. It looks good but I'm still playing Ashes of the Singularity on PC and that is an amazing RTS. I'm not sure I could get my head around controller support for a RTS either. I've played them before on console and they were always sub par compared to mouse and keyboard. Still the game does look good other than the performance issues.
Look awesome, nice one dudes. I really think gyro could work with rts once you get used to it. Could drag and drop and move the cursor almost like a mouse and keybaord with some practice.
Pretty sure Civ 6 filled that hole recently Glen? Esp. with new DLC coming in November? It's available for as little as £26.99 at Argos ebay while stocks last for comparison to Northgard.
Is the combat easy to control on the Switch? I got the game New Frontier Days on the Switch and it's controls for combat make the game unplayable in my eyes.

There is this very engaging RTS game that I am playing. Hades Star is a must for this console.

This is one of the best RTS games I've ever played. I will even add it to my top games list and top worst list.

The biggest shock regarding performance was on links awakening. From Nintendo on a ground up engine remake? Now that is unforgivable.

the color palette on flex here is gorgeous, truly.

Selecting and using hot keys for units was always a turn off for me in RTS games so this switch port is something I’m gonna try out

Wargroove is also a great Strategy game on switch, though it's turn based and a lot like Advance Wars

Looks well developed with controls designed around a gamepad instead of a lot of ports of pc games where it's a chore to select stuff.

Thank you for this review yes I do see tearing too. This game looks promising and still a shame these type of games are not enough or if any. Hope for patches to clean it up but not gonna hold my breath on that. Big sale with patches I will buy. Keep it up guys!!

Good review. I love RTS games but can't see me playing this. It looks good but I'm still playing Ashes of the Singularity on PC and that is an amazing RTS. I'm not sure I could get my head around controller support for a RTS either. I've played them before on console and they were always sub par compared to mouse and keyboard. Still the game does look good other than the performance issues.

Look awesome, nice one dudes. I really think gyro could work with rts once you get used to it. Could drag and drop and move the cursor almost like a mouse and keybaord with some practice.

Pretty sure Civ 6 filled that hole recently Glen? Esp. with new DLC coming in November? It's available for as little as £26.99 at Argos ebay while stocks last for comparison to Northgard.

Honestly rts games just are not good on consoles but it's currently on sale in steam for $14.99 on steam or 24.99 with all dlc.
Is the combat easy to control on the Switch? I got the game New Frontier Days on the Switch and it's controls for combat make the game unplayable in my eyes.
Reminds me of Warcraft but without the cool weapons and mythical creatures.
