- While I was in Italy I dropped by Sonnect and met with David Scorteccia who designed and manufactures the Sound Bullet audio test unit.
Lets see how these super cool audio testers are made.

Two passionate audio scientists meet! 😀 Love David’s passion for quality and detail, but still make it affordable. 👍
🤙👍🤙
Nice one! Love how David is as proud of the testing & rom flashing jigs as he is about the sound bullet.
🤙👍🤙
Nice piece! Wifey will be excited discovering a Sound Bullet purchase incoming ...
🤙👍👍
The bullet is on my list for 2023😉🤗
🤙👍🤙
Super impressive lab
👍👍👍
Nice video! :-) Thanks, Dave!
🤙👍🤙
USB-C = DOUBLE the sales.
Rumour has it there will be a larger, more expensive and more featured version that has USB C at some point
That said, right now these are always sold out so doubling sales would not be helpful.
Hey Dave I was interested in watching one of your videos on RUclips but it says Members Only how do I become a member
Cool cool, there should be a member link in the descriptions of most of my vids. It's only like $5 a month and the members are pretty much what keeps me doing the vids.
People have told me that sometime times you need to go to my channel from a computer.
I also do live zoom chats with members every 3 weeks or so.
Awesome
nice comment about the plastic wrapped neutrik connectors :)
Minimize waste at every level whenever possible!
I bought a sound bullet a while ago. It's still on its original charge! What a solid product. If these guys made automobiles I would buy one!
👍🤙🤙
I need sound bullet really baaad
So useful and so much quality
Thanks. But filmed on potato cam. :P
Yeah well what do you expect from a sound guy if you were complimenting my video skills I'd be insulted
I just brought this thing on a European tour and used it practically every night, impressing all the other sound guys along the way. 😊
🤙👍🤙
Wow, Love the engineering! Great quality control and not built in China, like everything else...
👍🤙🤙
I should've known it was only gonna be a matter of time.
Give it a USB-C port and I'll buy one!
I hear there will be a slightly bigger, more features and more expensive USB C version coming.
That said, we can't keep this version in stock and they can't build them fast enough already.
What we need right now is for him to do a price hike to slow demand
Maybe it's been a while since I was in an electronics environment, but is it not odd / not good that everybody is just handling the PCB's and not doing any grounding or anything else to manage electrostatic discharge (ESD)?
I remember those days when ICs would dry by touching them. I used to work at Hughes aircraft testing parts, modules and Tow Missile systems.
No need for a strap here, it adds no benefit and gets in the way.
Nice tour. In regards to grounding the shell, Meyer Sound did something different. To prevent static buildup and discharge, a 20 K ohm resistor is connected between the chassis and the connector shell in their powered speakers. Not sure about the rest of their equipment. Only know about the powered speakers because we had a bad ground at one event, so the amp picked up a hum and the XLR signal cable did not carry the full leakage current.
I read an article recently where AES recommends the shell is not grounded due to potential issues of the shell contacting metal objects and inducing hum.
That said, grounding the shell can add a slight amount of increased shielding for extended XLR cables.
The issue for the sound bullet is that if the shell was grounded but pin one was lifted it would show the cable as good unless the shell is isolated in the tester
Yesterday I tested a new built xlr isolation transformer using just the sound bullet and a single
short XLR cable. good stuff.
Perfect!!
It’s a great well built device.
I just wish it charged with USB-C, instead of micro B.
Rumor has it he's working on a premium version that'll be USBC for those that want to bump it up a notch and have the wallet to do so
So cool, good sound specislists are getting scarce. It would be great if the connectors dont get hardsoldered to the board. It could be a failing point at heavy use. "I do not own this product"
Are you having failure issues with the sound bullet?
@@DaveRat Sorry for creating some confusion. I don't have any experience with this product. Im a materialplanner for one of the big rental companies in Europe and we try to avoid hardsoldered equipment because it can be a stresspoint. Like blackmagic sdi converters etc. I just wanted to share my experience, it might be a good upgrade or maybe the product is already great as is:). I rephrased my old comment so it doesn't bring wrong information.
It doesn't appear they are hard soldered. From what I could see they are using short wires, hand soldered.
@@v12alpine thx:)
Italian guy with a Scottish accent. Very unique!
👍👍👍
GREAT! am looking forward seeing both coming together for a great and marvelous projects in the AUDIO world...kudos guys👍👍
Yeah we're working on a project together that should be pretty cool
I can't wait....
NERDS!!
Absolutely!
Awesome
Just out a Sound Bullet on my Xmas wish list. So cool.
👍👍👍
Usb C please!
When these first came out USB C was not common.
But, he is working on a slightly larger and more expensive version with additional features for the the USB C die hards.
Wow
🤙👍🤙
@@DaveRat waiting new year gift from u 😜
@@DaveRat welcome to India 🙏🏻
Dave , what's the price like?
I know the price is going up soon. They're in the $250 range
@@DaveRat Alright Dave thanks, I want to get one
Very nice
👍🤙👍
From Wellington nz very good guys
I can't wait to get back to New zealand!
@@DaveRat we would love see you in nz for sure
Please get it on usb c and it’s perfect again
I believe an upgraded more featured version with USB C is in the works it'll cost more but it'll appease those that need the USBC
✌👽👍
🤙🤙🤙
No ESD protection?
Hmmm, wouldn't that be like wondering why someone making toast is not wearing goggles?
@@DaveRat I’m an electronics engineer so the lack of wrist straps or ESD mats sticks out in my brain when you’re handling static sensitive components during assembly. BTW I own a Sound Bullet and love it!
Not really needed with pre-assembled boards. Plus they test them extensively and would know if there were a problem.
Cool on the sound bullet and agreed that taking precautions against potential issues that fail to manifest with the gear involved is an unnecessary time and energy cost
Great product, much needed, but a bit expensive!
Worth every penny if your are truly working full time in audio production.
There is nothing else out there that is this compact with this feature set. Plus the build quality is awesome.
I think they are under priced for what they are and can do.
@@DaveRat
Agreed but without any particularly high cost components, apart from the choice of connectors, or big software build, this is going to be a $49 dollar item when the Chinese catch on!
So cool, I love seeing the production side of stuff and by the top minds no less! thanks for taking us along Dave! :)
Yeah I love it too!
Thanks for sharing this tour!
🤙👍👍👍
