And one pro tip is that it's more often than not the more technical players who like to shoot down the middle. Thanks a lot, man! Yes, there's basically NO pressure on you. I conceded one penalty today. I tried a few mind tricks, and the striker almost overplayed it, but unfortunately, it went in by the bar. This is one of the best, if not THE best, penalty shooters in the league and I told me after the game that it really f***ed with his brain all the things I was doing before the kick haha :)

@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping for me they are over in 2005. I had a terrible accident that almost cost me my sight. I returned in 2007 but i couldn't be a GK any longer. I became a defender or a striker but I gradually played as a GK in 2009, unfortunately I ahve some fear because of my accident and I cannot fully perform like the good old days. in FC terms. Okay. Yeah. I understand. And I'm sorry to hear about the accident. At least you can still enjoy this game to an extent! And I'm glad to hear that you didn't fully lose your sight! Thanks for sharing your story, buddy.
The fake dive have made me saved a lot of penalties, (at one point I was at more saved then conceded) but it's important to not overuse it in a shootout. If you ever want to use it in a penalty shootout, only do it for the most nervous looking ones. They have set their mind to one side, but once you slightly move to that side, they will panic inside, placing it loose to the other side more than not. It's usually the second, third or fourth penalty, because the team usually picks the best to shoot first and the "final" fifht one. Also if you save, you mess with their head rest of the shootouts. So early is good. Also a note that if you fake move, try doing it with your entire body, moving your feet is ok as a start, but if you practice some on it, you can manage to move your entire body toward one side without losing out of reach. It takes a bit of practice, but it's possible to make it look completely convincing. The footwork and timing when you start fake walking are important. Finally, if the guy ain't looking at you during the run up, you can do a quick version of the side step, it require sound by smashing your foot on the side, and slightly moving your arms and upper body to the side, and even if he doesn't see you directly, he will indirectly spot you from sound and blindspot visual.
This is an absolutely fantastic breakdown of the fake dive technique! 👏 It's detailed, insightful, and packed with practical advice for keepers looking to level up their penalty-saving game. Here’s what stands out: Strategic use: I love how you emphasize not overusing the fake dive and targeting the most nervous penalty takers. Identifying the right moments in a shootout is key, and your point about messing with their heads early is spot on! Full-body convincing fakes: Explaining how to move your entire body convincingly without compromising reach is gold. It’s a subtle art, and you’ve laid out a perfect roadmap for keepers to practice and refine this skill. Incorporating sound: The bit about using sound to influence a striker’s perception is next-level thinking. Even if they’re not looking, the psychological effect of hearing movement is such a clever tactic. This advice doesn’t just help with penalties; it also shows how goalkeeping is as much about mental games as physical ability. Amazing tips - thank you for sharing! 🧤⚽🔥
The best situation to go against a pen is when your team is a goal up. I tell the guy that if I miss, it's like the match just started because we would be level, but if he misses they ruined possibly the best opportunity you can get in football.
I have a question. How do mind games help goalkeepers save more penalties? As said in the video, it messes with the striker's head, but how does that help?
Great question! Mind games can definitely be a powerful tool for goalkeepers in penalty situations. Here’s how they help: Disrupts focus: By using small distractions - like a pause, a stare, or even pointing to one side - the goalkeeper can throw the striker off their rhythm. This forces the striker to think more about you than just the shot, which can lead to hesitation or overthinking. Forces a decision: If a goalkeeper “suggests” a dive direction or makes the striker wait, it puts pressure on the striker to make a quicker decision. Rushed decisions increase the chance of mistakes, like missing the target or placing the shot poorly. Builds confidence for the keeper: Playing mind games can boost the goalkeeper’s own confidence and presence. Showing confidence in front of the striker can actually make the striker doubt their shot more. It’s all about tipping the mental balance in your favor. Even small moves can make a difference and create an edge! Keep practicing, and you’ll find your own style of mind games that work for you. 🧠⚽🧤
dude i was so confused why professional keepers kept going in the opposite directions in penalties i was genuinely like "are they blind?" i always just use my reaction speed to save goals
hehe, you make it sound so easy :) Penalties can be tricky and strikers/shooters are getting better every year. But it's great that you have such good reflexes that you can use them to save the ball! :)
When strikers go for the center, it's actually pretty difficult to read. But on the other hand, it's also very risky for them. Most players won't shoot in the center but sometimes when they exaggerate the signs, f.x. looking a lot to one side (almost too much), or standing in a very awkward position, or running really fast, they might go in for the center :)
Hey, no worries! It’s totally normal to feel a bit off after taking a break from practice. Here’s what you can do to get back on track: Ease into it: Don’t try to do too much too soon. Focus on the basics first-handling, footwork, positioning - and gradually build your confidence back. Consistency: The more consistent you are with practice, the quicker you’ll get back into form. Even short, regular sessions help shake off the rust. Stay positive: Bad sessions happen to everyone, but don’t let them get in your head. Trust that with time and effort, you'll feel sharp again. You’ve got this - just keep going! 💪
Hey man. Of course. This has happened many, many, many times for me also. I guess it's a part of goalkeeping. 1. Obviously become better. Keep training. Keep training your reach, jump and dive. The further you can reach and the better you can dive, the more like you are to save those almost saves. 2. Strengthen your fingers and hands. If you have strong hands and fingers, you're much more likely to turn the ball around the post than into the goal. 3. Use finger protection gloves. I would never do this myself because I don't like how they feel. But if you have finger protection, your fingers and hands are obviously stronger and will make it more likely to to save it :) I hope this helps :)
Can't you use mathetics. For example if you if 90 percent of the time. The player shots in the left corner. You go for the left corner 70 percent of the time. The 30. You go for the right corner.
I’m going to use this advise next time I get a pk and I’ll let u know but I don’t like to talk dirty and be mean so I’m not going to use the emi Martinez tactic
Hey I know. Maybe you should tell all the shooters and opposing coaches what tactics the goalkeepers are using so that they can in turn use it against the goalkeepers and then those tactics no longer become effective. Knob.
Hey buddy, this is for goalkeepers who are trying to stop penalties. I think it’s a good idea to share techniques so that everyone can learn and improve, but I also think it’s important for goalkeepers to have some secret weapons up their sleeve, just in case :) You know what I mean?
I saved two penalties alone yesterday by simply trash talking the striker to impose fear and pressure and I also did a trick by seeing his eyes fixed on the left intentionally pointing to the right saying yes this corner and deliberately diving to the left now we are into the semis
Lost the semis 2:1 but will play in the third place this coming Saturday wasn't happy with the loss but it's a learning experience and curve thanks Man

I have a question. How do mind games help goalkeepers save more penalties? As said in the video, it messes with the striker's head, but how does that help?
Great question! Mind games can definitely be a powerful tool for goalkeepers in penalty situations. Here’s how they help:
Disrupts focus: By using small distractions - like a pause, a stare, or even pointing to one side - the goalkeeper can throw the striker off their rhythm.
I’m not even a gk, but now I know what to do if I’m in a penalty shootout 1v1 with my freinds or cousins or siblings.😊
Exactly ☺️👍 Hopefully these tips will you the upperhand against your family 😅💪
Make a vid about how to choose gk gloves
Hey buddy. That's a great suggestion. I'll definitely put that on the list :)
TY
No worries ☺️ Thank you for commenting ❤️
4:26 if a striker watches this they’ll go through the middle
That's true. Knowing when the striker will shoot in the middle is very difficult. Hopefully, we don't have any strikers watching my videos 😁
Do you work at the goalkeeping academy
No, I only work for myself hehe
dude i was so confused why professional keepers kept going in the opposite directions in penalties i was genuinely like "are they blind?" i always just use my reaction speed to save goals
hehe, you make it sound so easy :)
Penalties can be tricky and strikers/shooters are getting better every year. But it's great that you have such good reflexes that you can use them to save the ball! :)
i had pen shootouts where the players were staring at side they were going for the whole time
Like staring-staring? or just briefly looking?
What about center?
When strikers go for the center, it's actually pretty difficult to read. But on the other hand, it's also very risky for them. Most players won't shoot in the center but sometimes when they exaggerate the signs, f.x. looking a lot to one side (almost too much), or standing in a very awkward position, or running really fast, they might go in for the center :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeepingIn all my years as a GK, I never conceded a goal shot to the center, as well as Panenka penalties
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping you are correct but when I used to play as goalkeeper they most of the time shooted at center
@@Neo-R. I only conceded one in the center in my carrer
Sir, i have been suffering from bad practice sessions after going to practice after 15 days. What to do
Hey, no worries! It’s totally normal to feel a bit off after taking a break from practice. Here’s what you can do to get back on track:
Ease into it: Don’t try to do too much too soon.
Next free kick maybe ? How to makes wall corectly, positioning...
Thank you for your suggestion. It's absolutely something I could make a video about, yes :)
Finna make me reach my prime❤
Love the energy! 🙌🔥 That’s the goal - helping you reach your prime and beyond!
When a striker looks at one side, i usually dove to the other one. I save so many penalties by doing this
They do it TOO obvious? :)
May i ask how to keep the ball out when it touched my fingertips, i happen to almost pull great saves but it ended up slipping through my hand
Hey man.
But if you have finger protection, your fingers and hands are obviously stronger and will make it more likely to to save it :)
I hope this helps :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping ty , appreciate that
In my school we don't have a grass floor football field it's literally solid concrete 😂😂😂 That's when i play i get a bleed or two 😅
Huff, that's hard... At my age, I wouldn't be able to train there hehe...
i am a youth goal keeper i will try this and reply if it works
and i point thw way i dive and fake dive the other way
Yes, let me know how it works for you ☺️🙏
Antony already scored on me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha 😁 Antony is a king 😉
Mate in my school the normal pens are 18 yards for my school it's like 2 or 3 yards
hehe... Well, saving penalties that close is obviously very difficult. :)

Can't you use mathetics. For example if you if 90 percent of the time. The player shots in the left corner. You go for the left corner 70 percent of the time. The 30. You go for the right corner.
Hey buddy. I'm not quite sure I understand your question, can you explain a little better?

I’m going to use this advise next time I get a pk and I’ll let u know but I don’t like to talk dirty and be mean so I’m not going to use the emi Martinez tactic
Yes, let me know. I'm excited to hear. And yes, I understand that the Martinez tactics aren't for everyone :)
Would like to share you the videos even if just to send a 15secs one
@@adeniyijoshua2149 hey buddy, what exactly do you mean?
I mean to send you a video cos I got the penalty saves on recording that what I meant
Oh yeah sure. Send it over on IG
I saved two penalties alone yesterday by simply trash talking the striker to impose fear and pressure and I also did a trick by seeing his eyes fixed on the left intentionally pointing to the right saying yes this corner and deliberately diving to the left now we are into the semis
Look at you 💪 Amazing, buddy. Congratulations. You should be really proud of yourself. Good luck in the semis☺️
Lost the semis 2:1 but will play in the third place this coming Saturday wasn't happy with the loss but it's a learning experience and curve thanks Man
