- We love eating when we're on long-distance backpacking/thruhiking trips. Tim's favorite piece of gear is our tiny kitchen! In this #short we show off the tiny kitchen and what we use it for. Details of what we put in the kitchen are on our website: reneeandtimhike.com .

I would need to be on like day 18 of naked and afraid to drink that leftover food water 😂.
On the other hand it's a brilliant way to reduce waste!
You’d be surprised when your in the woods and roughing it.
Not even out of the necessity to utilize every calorie possible, and utilize as much of your water supply as possible. I just did it even though I had the option of getting back home very quickly and easily.
I’d need to be on day 3000000 to do that 🤮🤮
They do it straight away though, it's not a big deal. It's like boiling noodles in a pot and adding water to what's left.
@@ThatGay1 what's the big deal? You never ate left over cookie batter from a bowl before?
they look so young and old at the same time
HARD living but GOOD living.
When they turn 50 they wont be able to walk
They are younger looking in there videos at home they can’t shower as often so they probably have some dirt on them in this video making them look a bit older
Sun damage is probably why. But boy do they look hella healthy!
I’d guess because they’re outdoors all the time. The elements (especially the sun) will age your appearance quickly
“Hey man what you drinking?”
“Leftover beans 😃”
White people stuff 😂
leftover bean water
Well coffee is bean water too so
@@palmfrond well it is but its meant to be bean water
🤢
This is the definition of finding someone who shares your passion. Love to see it 🤍🤍
Well said!!!
Love their enthusiasm!
I don't think I've ever seen a couple that seems to be so matching in personalities 😂 Like I'm legit jealous
Literally lmao
Yeah! Couple goals)
Not the only one! Ever notice how much they touch when they are sitting down? I keep seeing them touch each others thighs and think wow they seem so in love. And so happy! Imagine how well they have to get along to do this? I am FILLED with jealousy I want this specific life, exactly. No changes.
Meeee tooooo
“And then drink it…”
*Went straight over to the comment section after hearing that*
SAME 😂😂😂😂😂🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Fr lol😂
Whats the big deal??aint drink from pig leftover food???
Non-backpackers will never know that backpacking makes food taste 1000000million more times delicious at the end of the day
No I feel that I haven’t gone to any big hikes or backpacking but the one time I went for long bike ride and then some hiking in my local forest, my cream cheese bagel was the best thing I had ever tasted
ppl who work outside know
I haven't gone backpacking, but if I plan on going on a long walk, sometimes I'll make a pot noodle and empty it into a flask to keep it hot, then eat it outside. It's great in winter.
I honestly don’t know why these guys started showing up on my shorts feed cause I’ve NEVER searched for trail videos. But it always makes me happy and start smiling when their vids pop up now. I get so excited for them cause how excited they are. I love them and hope they keep living their best happy life!
You can say they've set up camp in your feed... (badumtish)
@@willek1335 OHHHHHHHHH
They are like happiness personified. Two people who are literally living their best life, doing something they love, together. Can't help but smile.
I like these two weirdo’s so much…I really enjoy ur videos
Meee toooo. I can’t stop watching them.
so you call em weirdos? 💁🏾♀🤦🏾♀
What's wierd about them?
@@scottjones8406 nothing. What's weird is the sheltered dummies who never met people with ideals or personality irl
@@scottjones8406 @hellaSwankky Probably meant in an affectionate way. ;) I agree with OP. Nothing cooler than seeing someone who are nerds in their craft and having a blast.
No one’s gonna talk about how they drink the nasty in between meal water? Okay.
Edit: to everyone personally offended, maybe relax a bit. It’s not that serious. Just an offhand comment I made not expecting it to grab any attention. But thanks for the likes though, to everyone else!
Cause no one cares
Its actually an incredibly common way to clean up after a meal without wasting water. Definitely not tasty tho 😂
called greywater. it’s not my favorite
Yuck
I almost threw up
the single spork had me dead lmao
I lowkey started screaming internaly when he said they drink the dirty water
I screamed externally… to the point where my husband asked if I was okay 🤣🤣🤣
Why? Y’all are sheltered
nobody said any thing about dirty water. 🤦🏾♀ it's literally the food they JUST finished eating.
fucking hell, some first world people just....🤡🤯🤪
🤦🏾♀
You realise they have barely any food and are losing weight BC they can't keep their calories up? All these precious folks who are grossed out by the water DEFINITELY do not need to be outdoor hikers BC things get a hell of a lot more disgusting than a bit of beef water. You have any idea how these people SMELL right about now? Spoiler: it's bad
The water isn’t dirty.
Ima need my own bowl and spoon
Right??
Yep!
I was just thinking, that !!
Right. Like I refuse to believe they drink out of the same cup and eat with the same utensils
@@jeffgayzose8129 they have to lol. do you know what backpacking is? you have to carry everything that you bring for weeks/months, so they use the same pot/utensils to save space and so there is less weight to carry.
People are freaking about the food water thing, but it's literally just water mixed with the food you just ate??? It'd be like taking a drink with food still in your mouth to wash it down. Y'all are acting like it's dirty bathwater or toilet water 😂😂😂😂
Same same
Exactly! 😊 It's sensible to me. 🙆🏻♀️
LOL people know what it is. they aren't confused about that. they don't want it. 💁🏾♀
Or drinking the water you backwashed in because half the time we humans don’t even realize
I didn't think it was gross because it's dirty, but rather because it's a really watered down version of the food (or tainted water, depending on how you see it). Like drinking hotdog water perhaps? Just can't imagine I could stomach the taste of water with a tiny bit of lentil stew in it, but to each their own.
Imagine the bond between these two.
whoa it’s amazing how much you can pack on that kitchen. stove, lighter, fuel canister, coffee, water, overnight oat, oreo, burrito and so much more
I don’t do extreme hiking or long hikes but I need to buy this little stove pot.
Yeah, but two right? Gross.
You two are some damn super lovable people.
You two are the coolest ! 👍🤠 Enjoy all y’all’s channels .
As someone who lived exclusively in the woods for 110 days I think I can confidently say that food water is the best water. Nothing better than a fresh looking cup to get dirty all over again (it’s the little things when your out there that you really take for granted in day to day life)
I love their energy evertime I'm sad I see them and I laugh and watch 😁😁😁
You’re so inspiring. Thank you! May God’s Love and Protection always surround you.
They are made for each other 👍
Not wasting a grain of food, I love it 💖 may you both be granted happiness on your journeys 🌺
Props on drinking the leftover water; following all principles of Leave No Trace.
They leave a "trace" and evidence of disturbance everywhere they go. They are not trained to be ghosts like we are in the military
I'm not sure what you mean here.
@@2ballsyourjaws It's more of an environmental thing.
@@JuniorWA no I get the hippie approach and even though that's simply a new wave millennial kinda deal I get it. I don't practice or believe in it but to each their own bubba. What people have to accept is just like a pair of shoes a pair of jeans car tires anything that gets used including the planet is going to get ware and tare and eventually be worn out regardless of how nice we are to the planet. It's just the circle of life
@@2ballsyourjaws it's not about being invisible bro it's about doing no damage 🙄
@@2ballsyourjaws You're right in a way, because popular trails looks like elephant paths. This is modus operandi on major trails in the US.
On the other hand, leave no trace is better than nothing. Places where these guidelines are not common looks like a bombed whore house. It can also go too far.
Personally, I don't use trails, but go off grid. I think that have less of an impact, because the ground doesn't turn into an elephant path. That's not why I do it, but it's an auxiliary effect.
Love these people. Enjoying life just like me and my husband 💓
It's really satisfying how everything fits inside the pot 👌
I’d love to see how you calculate your energy intake needs in preparation for your trips
Was thinking the same thing. By 10am I've already eaten more than that and I'm just sitting in my chair all day 😂
They made a video where they show what they eat (3000+ calories), and they still lose weight
@@dragonsaige most of those things they ate where snacks and sweets, NOT proper food !
I recommend Gear Sceptic if you like to learn how to optimise your meal prepping numbers.
@@maryburger1232 That's as good as it gets when your body is screaming for calories and you're pushing it 12 hours a day. :P Yes, we know it's not the best, but it's the best we can do. Don't judge us!
Every drop of potable water it's precious.
I really like that y’all get together in food prep for your upcoming trip. I like to do things like that as well. I get you all excited about the trip.
Am I the only one who get Wandering Oken from Frozen vibes from Tim? He just gives off the Oken look!
Living and embracing the nature around you, beautiful, best things in life are free. kudos ❤️ 🏴
Love your lifestyle, looking forward to do it one day
You guys are amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Makes one rethink traditional ways of life!
I love your guy’s content! It really inspires me to go bikepacking soon! Thanks for all the great tips!
I decided I ain't never eating with a spork again when I got out of jail lmao
Every gram of what they carry becomes a kilo over time as you carry it. That spork saves them about 20g and is absolutely worth it
Super impressive! and proof positive that people don't need a whole bunch of stuff
The irony, after having done what they do, is when you realised you just spent 1000$ on high tech gear to live like a homeless person. xD No regrets.
That's the coolest piece of camping gear that I've ever seen.
They look happy and I’m happy for them!
I’d be terrified it would break and have to bring two. And 4 lighters (I always lose them) and a lot more changes of underwear and socks! Lol I’d be terrible at this!
Awwww! They are so cute! Need a travel buddy too!
You guys are so sweet together!!
You guys are the cutest couple
That little stove is cool, I'm going to go online to see if I can find it 😁
They're like $250, you pay more for less weight
@@jeffgayzose8129 I don’t know where you live but they definitely don’t cost that much. Even including four 8 oz fuel canisters. Looks like they’re using the kinetic Ti stove which with pot msrps at 79.99. They have cheaper models. You may be thinking of MSR’s stove systems which typically run at a much higher price.
I could never but it’s nice to see couples that share each other’s passions ... of drinking leftover water lol
I’m just playing 🌚😂
Oh my gosh I never thought of bringing overnight oats to a campout!!! I’ll definitely try it out next campout I go to! Also, I agree the stove is my favorite camp appliance cause I’m kind of a pyromaniac! Keep up the good work and I love your videos!
What an awesome pot. I’ve yet to come across anyone else to have the same one. Been using it for the last almost 15 years!
@P A Olicamp
Awwww I love this ❤️
My ancestors didn’t fight of saber tooth tigers so I can stay in the woods. I respect my ancestors and enjoy my lovely dwelling safe from nature
I love these two. Be safe out there
I just love living vicariously thru you.
I don’t think i could handle the trail life, but I so adore the way you do it!!
Did you just dip an Oreo in water?
I just need to make sure that’s what I witnessed 😂
I assumed it was coffee because she was drinking it from the pot.
Is it just me or do both these too look like they where just found stranded on an island ?
you’re telling me people who spend a shitton of time outdoors look like they spend a shitton of time outside? no way!
I like how you don’t have room for much but somehow Oreos still made it. That’s love
They post themselves treats but it is super cute yeah
They stop into different towns along the way to pick up packages they mail themselves, to shower and wash clothes. They don’t stay exclusively in the woods!!! They’ve shown videos of opening their packages after they pick up, in one video, the end had the comments dying when ONE condom falls out of that big ass box at the end…lmao 😂😂
Crazy, but y'all be looking happy.
Awesome! Love to see it
“ when we hike months at a time “
Jesus, I literally live in Hike country ( Canada ) and have never even been on a day hike.
😆
Lol that’s your problem
You guys are always so happy and wholesome I love your content lol, I don't get out in nature much anymore but you guys are helping me get back out
What a genius contraption! I have a full camp kitchen when we go camping but this little thing would save a ton of space. Love it.
Soooo... Happy Homeless... Nice
No wonder they're so thin, they starving.
Also walking 80 gaba zillion miles
Exercise is more powerful
Under eating and over exercising
I mean did you see how big that pot of pasta was. That's a decent size meal. They do all of the food prep themselves so I'm sure they keep an eye on what calories are in each meal. They also don't address what snacks they eat here. And while they are thin they don't seem underweight to me.
@@isaacgates5859 pretty sure they shared that pasta so it’s really not much for a meal. Especially for how active they are.
The forced smiles and laughs grate on me.
And it’s wonderful to know you guys do this from the comfort of your backyard!
Do you each have one?
Doesn't look like it. Same color handle
“And then drink it 😃”
…. Nah, no thanks
RIGHT🤢
You guys are my favorite content creators ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's so sweet how you guys always eat out of the same cooking pot together. 🖤
♥️
I feel like yall are eating food prisoners make...willingly.
Not. Even. Close. 🤣 If you KNEW what they eat in prison…You’d think differently.
Backpacking food is normal food. And, after hiking 15 miles a day everything tastes amazing so🤷♀️
as someone who had to hike a lot for school bro i WISH i had the ability to make what they do. I remember at one point i lived off of carrots bc all my other food went bad so 😂
Yeah, I don't see them eating room temp off color slices of bologna as big as hubcaps, as thick as a door mat, and as greasy as a denny's kitchen floor with 2 thin suspiciously damp pieces of white bread. When I was in I'd have traded alot of things to have what they're having.
Also, just to round out the mental image of this meal the sides were unsweetened also room temp apple sauce and 2 of the hardest cookies ever and wash that down with unsweetened powdered lemonade mixed in way too much water.
Dehydrated foods are eaten by millions of people around the world daily by choice and by necessity. Dehydrated and rehydrated foods are still food and still have much flavor and texture that taste good
You guys are giving me and my two friends a goal for us to achieve and something fun to do
I swear you guys are the best keep going ❤❤❤
Did you say you hiked for months at a time?
They do! But they stop in most of the towns along the way to get additional food and to see family.
They also stop to pick up their next boxes of food, fuel, clothes, etc that they need.
They know their exact routes so that they can have their pre-packed boxes sent to where they are.
Their family helps out a great deal.
So you're cooking in bacteria..🤢🤢
Yeah didn't mention soap at all.
A) they have fire, the best sterilizer and B) malicious bacteria are not growing everywhere, especially on a dried cold metal container
I love watching you guys
You two inspire me to do this now I just got to convince the hubby to join me.
The cleaning part...🤮🤮🤮
They are in starvation mode and don’t even know it
I know look at her eyes. They need some meat.
You certainly seem to know better
how?
theyre eating 3 meals a day
@@cwahlb1 the human body needs animal proteins and fats, without it the body starts to slowly eat away at itself, you can tell by there faces. Look how many wrinkles they got, look at her eyes she can barely open them. It's really sad to see people self destroy and try and get people to follow them. Human history is full with people migrating from one area to another, all year round, what's available all year round? Animals to hunt and eat, do you ever see cave paintings of farms being harvested?
@@andrewsudama4908 Literally none of this is true. You don't need animal protein or fat. In fact, animal protein and fat is significantly higher in saturated fat than plant protein and fats.
Also, that's not why their faces look like that. 1) you don't know how old they are. 2) being in the sun all day every day is harsh for your skin. 3) hiking 15+ miles a day causes swelling. A lot of people get puffy faces when they backpack because of this. 4) could just be bright outside. You usually position yourself to face *into* your light source when filming, hence a squint.
If their bodies were metabolizing it's own protein, their faces would be gaunt and thin, not puffy.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about. Take it from a vegan backpacker that's also a Nutrition and Exercise Physiology graduate student.
Renee eating an Oreo is the epitome of happiness!
You guys are all that . Love you guys. Stay Safe.
They had me until the "scrap and drink." I like camping and camp cooking also but ..🤢🤮🤢.
I thought this guy was blind and always said “one love”???
They do look like they could be brothers and their lady counterparts even look similar. That'd be a pretty awesome collaboration. "I'm blind and this is how I hike from New Mexico to Canada!"
Thank you. Very helpful as I start my ulh preparations
They look so happy all the time, I wish I was them
If THAT'S what you look forward to "all day long", you're not living your best life.
Exactly
And we should be looking forward to what? A meal in nature with a loved one after doing something i love all day sounds like a great time to me.
Nice. Can you please just be more annoying? Thanks loads.
That setup is awesome
I love how clever they are with their food
The reason why you guys “look forward to a hot meal at the end of the day” is because y’all starving!! Not getting enough supplements! 😂😂
Nah, they have some healthy fat on their bodies
When you act this weird, you are probably eating other humans.
A person that would make that comment is also probably eating humans
I love how happy you are
I ❤️ you guys. See your journey is sooo much fun!
You two are inspirational!!!
That homemade meal after a long day of hiking sounds amazing.
I just love watching you guys
This takes "everything but the kitchen sink" to another level.
I love y’all’s videos
This is amazing! I’d so do this!!
They look so happy 😊
That all sounds so good
