- Cold steel sent me some of there new broad heads called the cheap shots. I was super interested to see what kind of damage they could actually do. My buddy Hayden and I went out to test them. He was up at bat and said that he would only take a deer at ten to fifteen yards. Unfortunately these three deer that came in never gave him a close opportunity and he had to take what he could. They make plastic knives for practicing knife fighting, too, I believe.
Always shoot with the head up, not alert, they can drop faster when their head is already lowered.

We do our heart and water fowl in a mayo/ranch flower and whatever seasons ya want and fry it ... pretty good

That's always been my favorite way to eat it since I was little. I usually eat the heart and tenderloin for dinner when I kill one. I'll roast or grill loin whole or stuffed whole and use heart for a appetizer more or less.
Heart is also great on the grill, make an aluminum foil bowl, add meat, onions,bell peppers whatever you want,some wet seasoning,and cook on low coals its amazing

Fried heart is my favorite part. It our deer camp tradition day two is deer heart for breakfast.
What we do is chop up onions, mushrooms and the heart as well as back strap or tenderloin. Take onions and mushrooms and saute then throw meat in, cook meat 1/2 way. Then throw cream of mushroom soup in, bring to a boil then simmer for 30 minutes. [Add water to thin gravy, season with your favorite seasoning] serve with white rice and some bread rolls!

Some of the best deer I've ate has been the day it was shot. Love the Iowa deer. Far better tasting then deer from the dessert( I grew up in Arizona). Hell, they eat what cattle eat here. I used to hang them for a week before butchering. Not anymore. I never marinate or soak the meat in anything. Nor do I overcooked the meat. Always medium rare to rare. Loin (BACK STRAP recipe) cut loin cross ways one inch thick. Wrap bacon around the outside edge. Hold it on with a tooth pick. Montreal seasoning on both sides. Grill over Kingsford charcoal medium rare to rare. The best ever.
Really like the videos would really like to see some on tanning skins as I hunt rabbits and pheasant and would like to see how you save them

I think the idea of a plastic broad head is pretty cool but after see that I think there needs to be a lot more strength testing and development to withstand hitting bone at a high velocity without breaking

It shot a doe last night and tried heart today for the first time and it was ok I fry it next time and see witch one is better thanks for the good content
Try pan frying the deer in straight Aunt Jemima pancake flower and critter glitter sometime. It's really good on any dark meat and browns quicker to make it more medium rare.
Fresh heart, pancake mix or fish crisp and deep fry 😘👌

You should try smoked heart. Smoke it with applewood. Thats what we do with moose hearts over here!

I'd keep some of those plastic ones just for finishing off a deer but couldn't see hunting with them since they break apart when you hit bone
They aren't made for big game. That's why they are so cheap. Ever rabbit hunt with a bow? Try it once. You don't have to ruin a $15 broadhead this way

Plastic has become an essential part of our lives but I hate seeing it used where it shouldn't. I see far too much plastic discarded when I am fishing and it will only get worse. I try to do my part and not buy plastic when I can but it has become a normal container for almost everything. We can recycle but most don't. Broadheads made of plastic, no thank you! By the way, keep up the good work. I enjoy watching your vids when I'm not out myself. Just Subscribed!

If you think the heart it good then try the liver with onions and gravy.
Heart is also amazing on the grill clean it up and slice it just how you did but don't chunk it up marinade it in a lil dales or moores steak seasoning then sear it on each side and definitely don't cook it to long it taste just like steak
Fried is the only way with heart it reminds me of more tender chicken gizzards.

In Peru we ate grilled heart all the time. Called Anticuchos. Great eating!
Hopefully I get to rifle hunt this year 27 years old and never went finally went dove hunting this year and hopefully I get to deer hunt this year
I soak mine in ice water for bout a hour..then throw it into egg wash then flour that I put my seasonings in then in the fryin pan comes out 💯

I hate it when someone from a different part of the country tries to tell you how to hunt in your own state. Methods vary from place to place due to terrain, cover, etc. What works for me here will not work in the brush country of TX.

I give those plastic broadheads a hard pass. I can see having some in a SHTF kit but never for use when you have access to a good steel version. I'm really glad you guys ended up using it for a finishing shot and not a primary shot.
As far as heart goes it's not an organ like a liver or kidney it's muscle just like every other part of an animal we are used to eating. It gets a lot of work which makes them a little tough so low and slow or hot and fast is the way to cook it. Best way in my opinion is like you did. A little seasoning, a light dusting of flour and into a hot skillet of butter & bacon fat (imo). Cook just long enough till it's center is pink. Any longer and it's jerky. Tasty jerky but jerky.

Any wildlife you deep fry . Add A1 steak sauce to your egg wash before you put it in flour . Taste the magic !!!!! From Turkey to deer .
You should try the liver a kidney as well, they would be delicious as well
