Also, choosing from stash for things like the westknits mkal in Oct. Once I put things down, they’re not always “fun” to come back to though I still want the thing. 2-3 rows added will eventually get done. Right!?! lol
I've yet to tally up my 2024 yarn labels, but that's a task before the weekend is over. At a glance, I definitely eclipse 2023 by a considerable margin. I can't wait to see the actual numbers. I also successfully used a LOT of yarns I'd had more than 2 years, some closer to 5+. So I'm very satisfied with that accomplishment. Goals for 2025 are already shaping up. I'm 100% on board to continue with the low buying, rotating stock, mindful purchasing and curating of my inventory this year. It's really made such a big difference physically in terms of the yarn I have and emotionally on a personal level. Thanks for being one of my motivators.
Being intentional is really a big key! The second thing that really helped me out was learning how to let go of what I don't love anymore, especially if they are leftover from FOs. I am enjoying the process of getting things more manageable.
It always amazes me to see what I have used all year, so I do keep my ball bands. Otherwise I don’t track much. Great job on working through all yours!!

LOL! It is a lot!! I have found some AMAZING deals over the years and I also got some rather large gifts from friends over the years. Now I am just slowly working through it all.
Oh... I made a mess right after filming... Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have to back to "organized" but every time I open the door I just want to close it and not think about it.
It is funny, as I am in the re-org phase, technically I have 4 holes right now... I empties all of the boxes and went through them and some how ended up with extra free space; so BAM another half a hole!
You've done a great job this year. The empty spots look great. I thought i cleared up a bit but I found some yarn and I ordered some that'll be here in 2 weeks. Ugh! At least they are mostly fingering weight. We are going to reno our main bedroom, guest bedroom and 2 bathrooms this summer. Since my stash is in the guest bedroom I'm going to have to move it out by June. I think I'll have a second stash busting project along side your MAL projects. Crochet will be my go-to as it eats up so much yarn and I'm much faster at it. Once I've finished the project, the leftovers are going to be donated! See you in 2025!🎉🎉🎉
Not everyone loves using leftovers and scraps. I have really found my crojo with scraps! I know we need to do some smaller renos but I don't want to have to pack up my house in phases again! LOL!
Happy New Year from Norway 🎉🎉🎉🥳 We're now 2 1/5 hrs into 2025 and it's pouring down rain! I just counted how many meters I have knit in 2024 a little over 20000 meters and 37 pairs of socks. Unfortunately because I knit on a 2.5 mm knitting needles it doesn't show that well in my stash. But I am satisfied. Wishing you all the best for you and your family.
Happy New Year! It was fairly nice out here. We had a warm front that brought rain before New Years Eve, but it had moved out and was still warmish here! I hear you with the 2.5mm!!! It is why my fingering weight stash doesn't seem to change year to year. I will use 20 hanks/skeins and it really doesn't show.
@@HappyCraftyHomemaker Same here. I have decided though to make some blankets this year from my stash. Hopefully, that will get rid of my 12 skeins of I love this yarn (aran weight) for Hobbii. Using a 5mm crochet or knitting needle is the biggest I can go.
OMG! I just got done working in the yarn room for the last few hours... The first Taming the Stash 2025 will be interesting... I found some MEGA deep stash in those boxes that need organizing. I found a lot of striping sock yarn I didn't know I had... I filmed a clip to share because I know you can hear the fear and fatigue in my voice... OMG!
I am so proud of you! Those are huge accomplishment. This has been inspiring to watch! My goals for new year 3 scrap blankets and 1 cross granny for my god daughter
That is wonderful!!! My list is a little shorter than last year. A lot of focus on the things that will move old stuff out of my stash that I just don't reach for.
I have not totaled my ball bands yet, but my partial spreadsheet shows that I used over 100 skeins and 17 miles of yarn in 2024. I have different goals for 2025, so I fully expect my yarn usage to be less in the coming year.
That was great!!! I have had massive ebbs and peaks with my counts over all. As I have been working heavily with worsted weight, it makes for larger ball bands and weight counts. There have also been years where I work with a lot of fingering weight and really take my time with projects.

I really don't have much to show for this year other than a few blankets and shawls. Half my yarn is still packed so I find it hard to find the yarn available when I get an idea. I'll define my progress thusly: I used 23 MILES of yarn this year but no business I shop at was in any danger of going out of business. I'm inundated with yarn and there's not free storage space to be found....yet. 2025 is my very low buy year. I'm at the visually drowning stage you alluded to and buying yarn isn't even fun anymore. I am not making goals for 2025. Surrendering to God what ever is meant for me, is my only goal. I try to plan things to death. I have been shown I need to get out of the way. Praying you have a beautiful, healthy, productive year.
Goals aren't for everyone. For me it just helps me to remember things and I love checking things off a list! I find it motivating and enjoying the process!

I filmed a wrap up of the day clip and you can hear the desperation/disappointment/confusion in my voice. I was so overwhelmed with what I found in there... A lot of great stuff for the deep stash month though!
