If you can't lift your foot above thigh or waist height while extended with a straight leg, it shouldn't even be attempted without warming up and even then you are likely to tear something if you try violently kicking things with your foot at targets that are too high, sure you can lean down all you like but even then. Stretching and working your leg flexibility to the point where you can confortably bring your foot sideways and straight forwards to about shoulder height should be enough to do good high kicks safely, and no you don't need to be able to do the splits but when it comes to high kicks it can sure help, I can kick way above my head height but have never been able to do full side splits but I can assure you flexibility with high kicks is actually a very important aspect of good high kicking.

It helps in 2 ways to take counter shots to the body. 1. gets air out of your lungs and 2. it causes your abs to contract which gives you a little more protection, but you're still screwed if you get hit in the solar plexus or liver. If you take a body shot other than those 2 places it makes the blow a lot less devastating.
Great demo -- but in street defense, I would add dorsiflexing to still strike with actual shin while avoiding injury -- plus you gain the angled foot as a "hook" after your low kick
I was in karate for ever and all the flick kicks i learned made it hard for me to lean roundhouses for some reason but im learning slowly and this helps
"It's gonna be cute, it's not gonna be so strong" 😂 Yea, that lead leg kick is the most awkward thing ever. I was learning last night in a class and it just felt sooo wrong. Switching between southpaw and orthodox has never been bad for me, but that damn kick.. issa no lol
Well i'm no "kickboxing master" however having fought 12 amateur Muay Thai fights I can tell you that stepping towards the direction you throw you kick is useful for a little extra power, not common though because you are telegraphing your kick. Learn early to pivot a 180 from a stand still, you develop power and speed. Also the swinging motion he makes with his hands. I try and teach people who plan on transitioning to MMA to keep the opposite hand up. Kick with the right, keep you left hand up. MMA you will see alot of counters with over hands or hooks. Protect that chin 😉 For the most part though this video is fantastic, and tells a beginner exactly what he or she needs to know.
You shouldn’t spin on the ball of your foot when doing a mawashi geri because it exposes you to an easy sweep. Your foot should be firm on the ground, knee of the kicking leg high above waist height. I think kick boxers have the worst roundhouse kicks.
As a martial artist for the past 30 years, I am usually not critical of other people's styles. I am a martial arts lover. I find them all useful. I have to say though. I have never seen a roundhouse kick performed in this fashion. In my styles, (There are many.) The round house is typically the same as what you were doing, but no full circle spin. A pivot with the front leg, bring the back leg around waist high, perform the kick with a snap and bring it back to it's starting position. This is most typical in TKD. Also the arm motions are not needed and can be a critical mistake, because,... 1. It is a dead giveaway to your next move. 2. It adds no extra power to your kick. That is a myth. You can get the same amount of power by just knowing the movements to the kick and channeling your power to your leg at the appropriate time. After all, shouldn't a kick be about your legs and feet, not your arms and hands? Try keeping your arms up in your usual guard. 3. If you are fighting an experienced Muay Thai user, dropping your guard with a predictable move can be a critical mistake. Because not only are you not likely to hurt them with that kick, but you have given away your next move AND dropped your guard. I think as martial artists, we can all respect Master, Dan Inosanto for his teachings. He always says, "Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless." Try doing exactly what you were doing before, but keep your guard up. I think you will find that you have lost nothing in the way of power. In fact, your kick may actually be stronger.
Aman Alam I am sure you will excel in your training. Good luck! I always look forward to seeing the next generation of martial artists best the last. You are right though, the spinning is a mistake waiting to be made. It is turning your back to your opponent.
***** That is why I am partial to Bruce Lee's teachings about not using fixed stances. I trained my left leg to be my kicking leg. Being right handed, most people expect my strongest kicks to come from my right leg. The result is that they are watching my rear leg instead of my front one.
***** No, not at all. You take MA like you do video games. Most games let you choose the controller mapping that best suits you. Martial Arts are important to the Martial Artist, but not as much as the Martial Artist is to the art. Without the Martial Artist, where is the art? You keep doing what you are doing, the way you are doing it, until it seems novice to you. Then move on to something more advanced. We are all teachers and students in our art.
As a martial artist of Goju Ryu there are couple things here that seem off in the way he does it from the way I was trained to do it. We are trained to do it with the front leg we keep our entire foot on the ground to keep our center of gravity and make sure our foot is securely grounded so we can not be easily knocked over. We keep our backs straight and very quickly raise the leg and flick the part of our leg from the knee down usually aimed at the neck or soft part of the side of the head and we kick with our foot or we could aim lower and hit them with a double roundhouse. Now our way may seem like it has no power but we train our legs so much that speed and power become easy to achieve without even moving by the time I made green belt I could do a round house kick with the front leg with such force that it could knock people over. And one of the first things we look for when fighting is exactly what he is doing as soon as the person does that we already know what kick he is going to use. Then it is a simple matter of hitting the foot with a hard block with a lot of force to hurt the foot and disable it for a bit or permanently by breaking it. O and another thing this guys hands should be up and ready in a guard position to defend against attacks not moving with his body he leaves himself wide open to an counter attack not that there even need to be one you could get him before his kick was even finished by looking at his body language as soon as his leg raises and he starts to turn you would already know what he was going to do. Honestly I do not usually criticize other peoples techniques but what this guy is teaching is only going to get someone hurt.
Yes, i totally agree, his foot shouldn't be so high when he hits, but instead on the ground. And hand waving is just wrong, you need them up to protect your head. This shown here could be dangerous
Legion Kicking with the lead kick is more dangerous against fast hands and less powerful. For example a spinning back fist can counter a lead leg roundhouse. Throwing the arm out is for balance and perfectly acceptable if you are leaning back to gain height.
Just remember, the front leg turning BEFORE the kick is a sure fire way to get nailed in the face. Work on it as one motion Leg coming up and pivoting that back foot in one motion (in taekwondo its knee raised, then twist vs muay thai where you are more like a whip sort of kick - they are similar with different execution) Otherwise you are telegraphing to your opponent and going to get either a punch or they are going to slide back and counter roundhouse (like in taekwondo) or in muay thai they may just shuffle back and do same thing. Most of the time that twist of the front leg usually steps out opposite of your power hand. Ie, if I hit with a right hand, I step out my left leg out a bit to allow me to get enough distance to shin hit. Lots of little things, for exercise the step and twist roundhouse is a great great way to learn, just get your end goal for all one motion at one time and not delay it. :)
The follow through method seems a little off to me. I have done both Karate and Muay Thai, and while I do tend to follow through with the kicks, the 180 ankle turn only comes at the end. Turning your ankle before the kick connects will cause your hip to be at a slightly off angle during impact. While your guard may not impact your kick's strength, your over turned hip can. The basic system in any form of a roundhouse kick is to make sure that the kick has maximum potential energy at the point of impact.
check out stephen thomas's roundhouse technique. he is more traditional karate like myself and he is able to snap out a roundhouse with the front leg without spinning around. you're right, it won't do as much damage, but with enough training and accuracy, landing it on someone's jaw can totally knock them out. and because it's just the front leg and no spinning it can be both really fast and come out of nowhere. but yes if you are wanting to do the most damage you can, a spinning roundhouse (which is what i was taught is what you are doing) or a spinning hook kick will be much more devastating. it's just a matter of landing it because there *is* more projection with those.
This is one of the best instructional videos I've ever watched, then shocked to find it was 9 years old. Great work. About to deep dive into the channel hopefully there's a lot more of the same
In Tae Kwon Do we do a slight hop with our left or right leg depending on your stand and we turn in mid air with makes it a quick and powerful kick because you have to move very fast
Interestingly enough, TKD doesn't have this kick. More accurately, they just do it differently. Roundhouse kick is cool in that every martial art style has it, but they all have their own nuance to it.
lot's of Chuck Norris facts mention the roundhouse kick in them, that's why i got curious and came to this video and now i know how the kick is performed :D
Sadly the chuck Norris facts call it a roundhouse but the kick he was famous for is actually called a spinning back kick and that's why you see so many people confused saying this isn't a roundhouse kick.. This is a roundhouse kick, chuck Norris did the spinning back kick and once again average people are just misinformed
***** there are pros and cons to anything, head kicks are EXTREMELY risky and all it takes to fuck someone doing it is a simple leg kick, then they fall down and then they are fucked
Nice demo. Your showing how to get height too even if people are not really flexible. Thank you. Seems to me there are 2 types of roundhouse. The lower leg flick action from side stance (e.g. Van Dam, Bill Wallace) and the wind up type version like this one from a boxers stance. I think the side stance roundhouse kicks were great but I think that stance limits the opportunities to include boxing. This wind up type kick seems more versatile and I suspect more powerful.
nice to see. combining ala ballet movement with martial art kicking. If your opponent is still maybe you can do that kind of kicking but that is risky. I suggest you watch Ruyama Karate on how he kick and use the roundhouse kick.
Or anticipate he's gonna catch it catch with a punch from the same side your kicking with his arm on that side will be down and a follow through wil knock him out
Good video. It's interesting as I never consciously twist my front foot before stepping into a roundhouse. It just happens naturally. However, it's good to see how effective this is.. Thanks.

If you move your hands away from your face every kick to counterbalance your weight, someone is going to counter punch your face too frequently, no? Isn't it better to teach kicks without sacrificing your defense to do it?
your supposed to lift your knee after you kick and spin around so that you block straight after you kick and miss! he forgot that little tip!!! your welcome!:)
!!! easier said then done! that's why it's best to use angles and move around and not stand in one spot! because you make yourself an easy target. but again, easier said then done! you will always slip up! unless your'e ideal in everything you set your mind to:)
They still do. It's so bad in fact that the jocks and nerds will even team up to bring down their lethal common enemy of the 15 year old round house kicker. Usually the jock charges in first with a football tackle, his greased blonde hair floating in the wind as he dashes straight at the 15 year old round house kicker, trying to grapple him to the ground, knowing full well that he will be round house kicked in the process. The nerd meanwhile follows hot on his tail, arms flailing, glasses bouncing up and down on his nose, notes of alarm and Doritos wafting betwixt chapped lips, to deliver the final blow to the dazed and destabilised round-house-kicking-fifteen-year-old-round-house-kicker. The toppled teenager ten times out of twenty tries to talk his way out of the pickle he now finds him self in, but his protestations are muffled by myriad nerd and jock farts administered in respect by nerd and jock respectively till the bell rings, or something else.
You spend way too much time giving your back my friend, may I suggest clockwise kick counter clockwise to reset stance and have next move ready. Years of experience, stay safe and healthy.
If you're talking about the Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman fight, his shin broke because he kicked with a very thin part and the kick was blocked by Weidman's upper shin. Which is way thicker and denser. The problem in that case was placement. If Silva kicked with his lower shin (which is where you're supposed to strike with) his shin would probably not have broken
When a guy told me t kick him as hard as i can with a roundhouse kick. I ended up almost dislocating my ankle when i kicked him with my foot. So what if someone moves while you're kicking and you land your toe part of your foot on his leg and you end up hurt? Do you need conditioning or do you just need to get really close? Thank you very much, i enjoyed your head moving video. :)
He shouldn't be spinning like that. Honestly the technique and almost everything was wrong. Those feet weren't pointed. He didn't even do the movement right.
Actually the ankle rotation is importatnt it opens up the hips for a easier kick plus it gives the kick more rotation for a higher kickspeed and greater balence
Would it be possible to learn this is my own backyard? It takes flexibility, athleticism and practice, and I think it would be cool to learn how to do a proper karate kick.
You can definitely learn techniques from tutorial videos. However, it's usually recommended to have a trainer nearby, at least to start, to catch any bad habits you might develop.
I'm thinking of learning this once I'm a bit thinner. I'm nearly half way to my goal! I'm on a a diet from 20 stone now I'm around 15 stone 11lb I'm getting to around 12 stone or below.
Cool. I'm thinking of buying a heavy Bag and a speed ball to put in the garden at some point got to look for deals then I'll start getting even more thinner.
yeah is not roundhouse ''ish'' because you need to follow through.. but you've got to be realistic man. because as you can see he is training his kicks on bag not on kick pads..
+Edward Marasigan following through requires you to turn your back to your opponent.. In the ufc that's how most fighters end up on their back, if you watch before he's hitting the bag he is following through, I was trained not to follow through but to derive the power from the flick of your hips and extension of your lower leg at the same time rather than swinging like a baseball bat, it doesn't have as much power and is snappier but it's quick and looks the same as a front kick or side kick up until the last second. The only time I follow through is if I'm going to follow up with a spinning back kick or something
Lyndsey Martin it's not a muay thai kick if that's what you are thinking, just don't let chuck Norris affect your understanding of martial arts, it's like learning to have realistic sex by watching porn lol, but it is a standard body hiegth round house
Whats your opinion when in karate we do front leg roundhouse kick without switch? Its faster to do but not so powerful without the swicht, just my thoughts.
in a competition karate, kungfu, TKD, muay Thai or kickboxing, the high kick of roundkick can be effective to hit the head but I think that in real fight of survival kicking high is risky because there are self defense techniques specializing in kicking defense and the easiest kick to catch is the roundhouse kick because the legs travels in arc much more when you hit it high leaving space from the ground to your legs for the defender to enter and make a counter. I think that some Jujitsu practitioners do not practice so much on kicking defense; and also do not have, perhaps, the courage to enter and counter a kick as we can see many grapplers/ jujitsu/judo in UFC or other competitions that grapplers or jujitsu/judokas usually do not apply kicking defense when their opponents kick high or low.
dosdadio siapa In a fight of survival aka street fight boxing is the way to go: nothing flashy, no kicks= lower risk of falling to get stompped, in streets most ppl don't know how to punch, grapple, move their heads or tuck their chins so if you have few years of boxing experience, you have quite an advantage. Actually anyone with some striking training has a huge advantage over some dumbasses who think they can fight.
Thanks. Just a question : doin a roundkick with the right technique (i mean arriving to the head of someone) need an excelent mobility on adductors, so which approaching exercises would you recommend to have a perfect leg-split mobility?
My roundhouses got significantly better, comfortable and accurate when I started practicing high front kicks as well. All I did was consistent split stretches (both front and side) and trying to kick the bag as high as I could with different kick techniques.
hello there i'm training muay thai and i want to know something you said in the video that i should be on the balls of your feet while doing the kick but wouldn't that make me vulnerable to be knocked down on my back
+Mina Nabil Yes, many kicks are high risk maneuvers, and this one in particular is a relatively high risk kick, with the fighter opting to take a risk in exchange for power and reach. If you're fast and get the timing right it's great, but if they see your kick coming and know what they're doing, they can really mess you up, at least if they get their timing right. Simpler kicks and knees are less risky, and punches are less risky still. Any time you've only got one foot on the ground, you're momentarily much easier to take down or knock down than when you've got two feet on the ground
Thanks so much; great video. If anyone here knows: my gym requires sneakers and I've got some arthritis and meniscus damage in my knees, so pivoting is more difficult (rubber sneaker on the rubber mat) and I'm getting too much pain in my knees. Is there anyway to throw the kicks without as much pivoting on the ball of my foot?
Pivoting off the ball of your foot gives the kick the majority of its power because it transfers your body's momentum into the kick. If your knees are making it difficult I would suggest working on teeps. Those are kicks that are straight down the middle and don't require pivoting off the ball of your foot.

"It's gonna be cute, it's not gonna be so strong" 😂 Yea, that lead leg kick is the most awkward thing ever. I was learning last night in a class and it just felt sooo wrong. Switching between southpaw and orthodox has never been bad for me, but that damn kick.. issa no lol
Well i'm no "kickboxing master" however having fought 12 amateur
Muay Thai fights I can tell you that stepping towards the direction you throw you kick is useful for a little extra power, not common though because you are telegraphing your kick.
I twisted my ankle TWICE! trying to do this.
Agreed it takes a lot of practice to get the 180 properly
The pivoting was easy for me. It's just that I'm not sure if I should kick downward are in a parallel line
You shouldn’t spin on the ball of your foot when doing a mawashi geri because it exposes you to an easy sweep. Your foot should be firm on the ground, knee of the kicking leg high above waist height. I think kick boxers have the worst roundhouse kicks.
try doing a Brazilian kick
If your ankels aren't so flexible, definitely recommend some ankel warm out and knees as well cause injuries so easy in this
Me: WTF
Stranger: what?
Me: work train fight
Duh
Absolutely one of the best tutorials of this technique. Very nice 👍🏽
I did martial arts when I was younger stopped
But I'm doing them again now I'm a little rusty but I'm learning :)
Although not as experienced as you, I was wondering the same thing about this style (spinning thing)
Aman Alam
I am sure you will excel in your training. Good luck! I always look forward to seeing the next generation of martial artists best the last. You are right though, the spinning is a mistake waiting to be made. It is turning your back to your opponent.
Se7en Stones I think the he spins only to demonstrate the kick on the air. When he shows it on the bag he doesn't spin.
*****
That is why I am partial to Bruce Lee's teachings about not using fixed stances. I trained my left leg to be my kicking leg. Being right handed, most people expect my strongest kicks to come from my right leg. The result is that they are watching my rear leg instead of my front one.
*****
No, not at all.
the kwan do does it both ways with different names
He is teaching the kick step by step.
Smart guy. Explains the technique in terms of physiology, and explains 'why'.
Timeless, thank you!
I love how his T-shirt says 'wtf' Xp
brilliant explanation. very clear and easy to understand
Wife: babe! I’m pregnant!
Me: 3:47
I did it to my brother. He is having a very big nap now.
I can use this vs a woman i disagree with
YOU
Absolutely
Especially when your woman doesn’t have dinner ready at the right time this kick will help
I was tryna hit your phone
Stfu
check out stephen thomas's roundhouse technique. he is more traditional karate like myself and he is able to snap out a roundhouse with the front leg without spinning around. you're right, it won't do as much damage, but with enough training and accuracy, landing it on someone's jaw can totally knock them out. and because it's just the front leg and no spinning it can be both really fast and come out of nowhere. but yes if you are wanting to do the most damage you can, a spinning roundhouse (which is what i was taught is what you are doing) or a spinning hook kick will be much more devastating. it's just a matter of landing it because there *is* more projection with those.
HE WILL KNOCK ALL THESE COMMENTS OUT
I mean, the channel can do that to, just click the three dots and select delete.
Lol
As a beginner this was very helpful!
I'm trying to animate a 3D character and this video is very informative of body part positions.
Thanks for the share.
Put on RUclips when you're done pls.
this is awesome, can't wait to get a bag, tired of kicking different trees and granite stones, I need softer canvas
Man, I miss Tae Kwon Do. That's where I learned all of this stuff. I was pretty good at it too.
Interestingly enough, TKD doesn't have this kick. More accurately, they just do it differently. Roundhouse kick is cool in that every martial art style has it, but they all have their own nuance to it.
He is demonstrating a Muay Thai roundhouse
'That's unbelievable Jeff !!'
Me tap dancing towards the opponent 🕺🏻
lot's of Chuck Norris facts mention the roundhouse kick in them, that's why i got curious and came to this video and now i know how the kick is performed :D
Railgun69 Haha, me too :D
Sadly the chuck Norris facts call it a roundhouse but the kick he was famous for is actually called a spinning back kick and that's why you see so many people confused saying this isn't a roundhouse kick.. This is a roundhouse kick, chuck Norris did the spinning back kick and once again average people are just misinformed
Mat Ward ahh i see... thanks for the info
His head/neck kick was really low down. Who's he kicking? Frank Iero??
Tamar Mack Head kicks are fucking retarded, leg/rib kicks are extremely more effective and efficient
***** hehe
Chuck Norris brought me here.
me too :)
But the guys very good, he describes it like dance moves and guides you through the steps.
s0ad29 like physically?
@@zainery 😂😂😂😂😂
nice to see. combining ala ballet movement with martial art kicking. If your opponent is still maybe you can do that kind of kicking but that is risky. I suggest you watch Ruyama Karate on how he kick and use the roundhouse kick.
The other guy caught my leg now what do i do?
Practice the "half-shin half knee" technique or once they grab your leg start punching with the hand on the side that they grabbed your leg on...
Thanks.
Jesus Christ saved my life he can save yours to. No body is perfect except Jesus Christ. So he was the perfect sacrifice for the world and he became that sacrifice. So that we can be perfect in God’s eyes all we need to do is. Repent from our sinful wicked ways and surrender our life’s to him. Jesus Christ. Repent meaning acknowledge and forsake your sins. Know you have sinned and know you are not good in God’s eyes. Forsake meaning as in try your absolute best to not sin. We have to be clean and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said we must be born again to enter The Kingdom of Heaven.
God bless you all. I love you all may you all find Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior .
God bless brothas and sisters ❤❤! Thank God ❤
u annoying@@jrmartinez1354
If you move your hands away from your face every kick to counterbalance your weight, someone is going to counter punch your face too frequently, no? Isn't it better to teach kicks without sacrificing your defense to do it?
@CF9417 you should post at each kick
wow!! lemme try it!!! loved your shirt as well!!! thanks!!
your supposed to lift your knee after you kick and spin around so that you block straight after you kick and miss! he forgot that little tip!!! your welcome!:)
Aiden Conway Yes. very common in muay thai but wait till you get swept like i did😂
!!! easier said then done! that's why it's best to use angles and move around and not stand in one spot! because you make yourself an easy target. but again, easier said then done! you will always slip up! unless your'e ideal in everything you set your mind to:)
Aiden Conway Agreed
My dumbass is laughing cause I don’t know if you just gave us a tip or told us how to get knocked down😂😂😂
Thanks for showing steps by steps.
Some 15 year old used these moves to beat up a lot of jocks and nerds.
The Arvin Guy Jimmy Hopkins?
What are some good stretches for learning how to kick?
I appreciate any answer. You can help me with.
Thank you
God Bless
How does he make that *WOOSH* sound without spit coming out?! 😂
Very good demo for leg kick .. may i ask if this is Muay Thai leg kick ? .. Whatever it is ... i love to learn more from you. Tks so much!
“Open up these hips as much as you can” #gotit
Excellent instruction! BIG thanks!
You spend way too much time giving your back my friend, may I suggest clockwise kick counter clockwise to reset stance and have next move ready. Years of experience, stay safe and healthy.
These videos hit different
I'm scurred, there's a video of someone breaking their shin doing a roundhouse kick lol
Did it have a UFC Fighter in it ?
probably
If you're talking about the Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman fight, his shin broke because he kicked with a very thin part and the kick was blocked by Weidman's upper shin. Which is way thicker and denser. The problem in that case was placement. If Silva kicked with his lower shin (which is where you're supposed to strike with) his shin would probably not have broken
basically no setup
When a guy told me t kick him as hard as i can with a roundhouse kick. I ended up almost dislocating my ankle when i kicked him with my foot. So what if someone moves while you're kicking and you land your toe part of your foot on his leg and you end up hurt? Do you need conditioning or do you just need to get really close? Thank you very much, i enjoyed your head moving video. :)
Grandpa can’t handle the kicks now 😤
This is awesome ive struggled bringing my kicks higher because i never dipped my body down. Can do it now?
he looks like louis smith
thanks so much for the video, very clear and direct information, got some good hints to improve. Thanks, from Argentina.
He shouldn't be spinning like that. Honestly the technique and almost everything was wrong. Those feet weren't pointed. He didn't even do the movement right.
this whole thing is cringeworthy
+Jonathan M. then make your own video doing it "right"
+olamvaed i ain't got no time
+olamvaed wait, hold up. I just realized that this was kickboxing not taekwondo.
Either way, if you spin like that, you might get caught off guard in a fight, and your opponent might land a big blow to your face.
Must try out the higher kicks as my fllexibility is poor. Might also see how I incorporate some of these techniques for a turning roundhouse
I have done kickboxing for about 3 years now and this is wrong to teach somebody. You dont need to do that ankle thing
Yes. And you don´t need to switch stances for your right leg.
Actually the ankle rotation is importatnt it opens up the hips for a easier kick plus it gives the kick more rotation for a higher kickspeed and greater balence
im not saying you shouldnt pivot just for starting thats wrong
Lots of the high level kick boxers and muay nak do the pivoting.
That ankle turning step is a huge telegraph to anyone who spars regularly.
AnonymousBanana it is possible. I started as a fat ass now I'm down to 155 and feel like a beast.
Who else is here from Attack on Titan? :D
No, but I thought of sanji if that counts.
weaboo idiots
Muay Thai is like and I have to thank attack on Titan for that
How did you find out!!? 😱
I came here after Titan Annie did this kick to Titan Eren.
Seriously...how the hell did you find out?! 😲
Maybe
I'm thinking of learning this once I'm a bit thinner. I'm nearly half way to my goal! I'm on a a diet from 20 stone now I'm around 15 stone 11lb I'm getting to around 12 stone or below.
Don't wait. I started Taekwondo when I was very heavy and lost 50 pounds while training.
Cool. I'm thinking of buying a heavy Bag and a speed ball to put in the garden at some point got to look for deals then I'll start getting even more thinner.
30 stone meself. Starting Muay Thai Tuesday.
+Ho-Lee Chit how'd it go?
Kyle Thompson Fuckin' sucked. Barfed and 5 days later I'm still sore. I'm in terrible shape tho.
when can I start fighting crimes?
I do a roundhouse kick then a spinning heel but I didn’t know how so thanks for the tips
that not a fuckin roundhouse
Actually.. Yeah it is.. The kick that most people think is a called roundhouse thanks to chuck Norris's fans is actually called a spinning back kick
yeah is not roundhouse ''ish'' because you need to follow through.. but you've got to be realistic man. because as you can see he is training his kicks on bag not on kick pads..
Exactly my point.. You've just elaborated the parts that I miss.. And snappier kick is called round kick..
+Mat Ward if it doesn't work on the bag, it wouldn't work on people, right?
Thanks for the video. Have fun making more.
that's not a roundhouse kick
Lyndsey Martin Yes it is
Lyndsey Martin That's a roundhouse kick at kickboxing , honey.
Lyndsey Martin it's not a muay thai kick if that's what you are thinking, just don't let chuck Norris affect your understanding of martial arts, it's like learning to have realistic sex by watching porn lol, but it is a standard body hiegth round house
Actually... Yes it is a roundhouse
stfu a roundhouse is a house with no corners right? lol yes this is a proper roundhouse
I don't even want to learn this but I'm still here
Whats your opinion when in karate we do front leg roundhouse kick without switch? Its faster to do but not so powerful without the swicht, just my thoughts.
I go to kickboxing and this is all true I do them quickly strong and a lot in a row
Do u point ur toes down just to make sure u don't catch them on the bag?
i knew this move but ur tutorial is nice for beginners
ty
What's the difference between the roundhouse kick and the turning kick?
Pretty good video man. Didn't think there was much to a roundhouse kick. Useful info
in a competition karate, kungfu, TKD, muay Thai or kickboxing, the high kick of roundkick can be effective to hit the head but I think that in real fight of survival kicking high is risky because there are self defense techniques specializing in kicking defense and the easiest kick to catch is the roundhouse kick because the legs travels in arc much more when you hit it high leaving space from the ground to your legs for the defender to enter and make a counter. I think that some Jujitsu practitioners do not practice so much on kicking defense; and also do not have, perhaps, the courage to enter and counter a kick as we can see many grapplers/ jujitsu/judo in UFC or other competitions that grapplers or jujitsu/judokas usually do not apply kicking defense when their opponents kick high or low.
dosdadio siapa u mean brazilian or traditional jiujitsu
dosdadio siapa In a fight of survival aka street fight boxing is the way to go: nothing flashy, no kicks= lower risk of falling to get stompped, in streets most ppl don't know how to punch, grapple, move their heads or tuck their chins so if you have few years of boxing experience, you have quite an advantage. Actually anyone with some striking training has a huge advantage over some dumbasses who think they can fight.
good explained in small steps, thx!
1:Gets up
2: attempts
3:knocked out cold by the edge of the table
serious question, i noticed his heel is off the ground when he kicks. isnt that bad for power?
All I did was consistent split stretches (both front and side) and trying to kick the bag as high as I could with different kick techniques.
hello there i'm training muay thai and i want to know something you said in the video that i should be on the balls of your feet while doing the kick but wouldn't that make me vulnerable to be knocked down on my back
You should, and yes!
But if you're quick, no Way someone can kick your leg away! :-)
You'll get caught easily if ur flat footed
+Mina Nabil Yes, many kicks are high risk maneuvers, and this one in particular is a relatively high risk kick, with the fighter opting to take a risk in exchange for power and reach. If you're fast and get the timing right it's great, but if they see your kick coming and know what they're doing, they can really mess you up, at least if they get their timing right. Simpler kicks and knees are less risky, and punches are less risky still. Any time you've only got one foot on the ground, you're momentarily much easier to take down or knock down than when you've got two feet on the ground
easy to understand the moves you teach
Thank you sir for this lessons.
The best teaching technique, thanks for uploading this video
Great vid, but can u plz answer this question? I'm 13 years old when I kick the heavy bag I kick it hard and with correct teknike but a lilttle bit lower than my knee the upper part middle of my shin I have pain when I touch and it's like this with my right leg but not as much with my left leg why is that so how can I prevent it cuz I rested 3 weeks then I siding have pain but then I started again it came back thank u for your reply
I was searching out how to do kicks since i tought mine is so bad and wrong until i watched this video and figured out it was naturally a roundhouse kick lmao
