A tutorial about kicking and only shows the upper body. Lmao
Otherwise one of them would disapear
A lot of the roundhouse kick comes from the rotation of the upper body so yeah haha, all you do with the legs is chamber, pivot, and extend the leg really hard
Yeah, who thought about this? Lmao
Pivot the leg? No I don't see it
Israel Hernandez I was thinking the same thing! Wtf
It's knees up, other than "pivot on front foot" what do you want to see down there?
the camera should have definitely been positioned where the viewer could see the feet placement. Why would you crop out the ground in a kick instructional video lol..
otherwise very powerful video.
Ben Dover Seriously though, why isn't this making everyone laugh or just be upset by how awful framing is throughout the whole thing.
The camera hides imperfections of student. Joe Rogan at first corrected him about bouncing but he did replay this.
Ben Dover well Joe Rogan is super short he always try’s to hide that fact
No one should actually be learning from youtube videos bro
@@demz6365 Max Holloway learned striking from the UFC game
Please, for technical videos, record the feet as well!!
You can tell he doesn't pivot much, watch his knee
Jarrod7755 And for initial teaching of beginners, it pays to get them to extend their weight forward over the supporting foot so that they learn to hit with their whole body weigh from the get-go.
Once they're doing that, you can teach them to thrown it dynamically without over extending.
Breaking the habit of kicking with the ass hanging out and just the leg swinging is a PITA.
Foot fetish
AYO?
Thanks, Tarantino!
2:15 life flashes before his eyes
Lmaoo look at that man flinch
I'd love to train with Rogan. He seems like a great instructor who will tell you when something is good and tells you when it sucks. He is not into building up your ego, he is into building up your skill set. Why is he always out of breath? Maybe because he has been training for hours. He fights and trains with the best in the world. I would feel comfortable in saying, he can easily kick 99.9% of the UFC viewer's butts. What he does in his private life is his business. I appreciate him sharing his knowledge. Every time I see one of his videos, I have to go train. He has a side kick and spinning side kick that GSP asked him to show him. Yep. One of the best fighters to step in the Octagon, asked Joe Rogan, to teach him a technique. So if GSP respects the guys talent and teaching ability, I would say that endorsement is good enough for me. Also, he is an Eddie Bravo 10th Planet Black Belt. I wish he could talk his friend Eddie in opening a school up in Valdosta, GA. This is the martial arts waste land.
Well said mate
thought he;s out of breath cuz he smokes mad weed
he's out of breath because he talks too much. think... talking while jogging.
He stated in another video that he was out of shape.
Steve Watts yeah, I see that in Joe Rogan too. I don't got a big ego and I don't plan on building it, I plan on building my techniques and skills. He can tell me that I fuckin suck and I'm trash all he wants, I look forward to the reward.
Joe suddenly becomes scary the momemt he throws a kick
where the damn foot work mr Camerman??
I thought Joe's t-shirt said DMT 💀
I want to see the pivot foot positioning too for reference
yeah like why would you record this from the waist up
the toes of your grounded foot should be pointing outside of the opponents gate as if you are aiming to kick throw them and finish the motion after your leg has passed through the target. In a muay thai class they will encourage you to be on the balls of your foot. This is my preferance. In karate or at least in my experience of it this is discouraged while kicking.
@@Stephen-uz8dm hell no, karate does ball of foot too lol. Unless your karate instructor wants to see your knee explode. This isn't. True roundhouse either, it's a diagonal kick.
Diagonal is the roundhouse. Different terms for same kick
@@thomasbeall9069 diagonal kick?
Still waiting for a chick named Aubrey to show up.
Why is Joe always out of breath?
+Matthew Spencer smokes a lot of pot
he just got done doing other exercises dumbass
maybe he is like one of those characters on World of Warcraft, always out of breath :D
Steroids!
I'm sure up until pretty recently he almost no breathing from his nose which might have something to do with it
Great tutorial, shame about missing the footwork for those who are beginners.
Without correct footwork it is very easy to injure your own ankle, knee and hip.
Your support leg must pivot, so the starting position of the support foot the toes would be facing your opponent and as the kick makes its impact the toes would be facing away from your opponent. Once you retract the leg back after impact your foot then pivots once again and you end up back in your stance, toes facing the opponent. Hope that helps any complete beginners 🙏🏻
First thing he said is pivot the foot/leg
So off putting when they zoomed in on Joe Rogan's hands like that.
Almost took his face off 😂😂😂
where the damn foot work mr Camerman??
I'll be honest, when I first saw this video I thought Joe rogans shirt said DMT and I was like wow, that's perfect
2:15 ohhh so close
2:20 you’ll thank me later for Joes laugh😂
didn't think i could respect joe anymore... then he pulled out fairtex pads.
Aubrey is not lifting his knee high enough and angling the kick downward or at least across on the spin, but Joe does it perfectly when he demos the driving through.
I love the way joe breaks things down
Do try this at home kids.. never kick with your foot instead of the shinbone.. your shinbone is the sword that needs to cut through it.
When Joe threw the kick short of his face like he was shadowboxing, for a tenth of a second i thought he was actually about to kick him 😂
2:16 Joe came close to kicking the shit out of Aubrey hahahaha
when you're able to kick like that you're in control. I can throw kicks to around 6 inchs from some ones face easily.
Just made a statement that's it :p
Around 2:40 into the clip (when dude is throwing kick harder & joes complimenting), his hands are all over the place..a decent fighter would pick up on that after the 1st or 2nd kick & step into his kick (closing the distance) and blast him with a straight/uppercut...maybe a hook. Leaving himself wide open for a counter-strike
Who this fool? Filming a kick instructional, yet don't even know how to throw a kick himself.
I wish joe never did fear factor and instead made kicking instructional DVD’s 😂
Thanks for showing us the feet and the pivoting cameraman 😑😑
How are u gonna make this video and miss the footwork? Do a full body angle for god's sake
Did Hapkido for almost 8 years. I was taught to NOT follow through. The way we were taught was when executing the kick, stop, recoil the kicking leg and bring that leg back to where you will be in your original fighting stance. We were not allowed to follow through, especially do a full circle follow through, because our back would be exposed and open for a vicious counter.
2:28 stop lying joe, these kicks are fucking terrible lmao
Anyone else realize how close joe was to kicking Aubrey's arm on the final example of how to swing through? Joe must have a good sense of distance after all these years because I know I would mess up and pound someone with a kick like that on accident
Are they in The Empty, from Supernatural
I can’t be the only person that thought Joe’s shirt said DMT at first 😂
He said thanks:)))))))))))
hahahahah
Hahahahaha i laughed so bad at that
It wasn’t good too
what's wrong with that? If Joe Rogan himself says your kicks are good, it really means a lot
@@xdygmnyrdf no, it doesn't. Just because eons ago he did a little TKD doesn't mean much.
I think Joe Rogan is quite possibly my absolute favorite Martial Arts personality of all time.
Joe "kettlebell training and functional strength training" rogan
"Warm up with 3 sets of DMTs"
"If you're gonna start from scratch; keep your hands up high."
blue lips...breath joe breath
You know joe got knows his space cuz if he was a foot forward that man would be out
The guy said “I’m glad I didn’t have an itch on my foot” and laughed because he knew if he leaned in any closer he woulda got rocked🤣😭
2:20
Top of his foot had to be sore
Joe Rogan has a powerful spinning back kick however he gets too much praise. He is way too out of breathe. The video is not showing their feet, critical if recording a kicking tutorial. The black background hides Rogans sloppy technique. Also when teaching one should breakdown the technique further which from watching his student kick is not following through with hip. This kick is the most powerful in the world not the spinning back kick and is in my opinion the most difficult to learn due to what Joe said about the body moving together which is true. One tip that helped me is to bring the hip past your center line also use the planted foot to push off the floor and kia yell for more power. Rogan is cool but I am super disappointed in him being a gatekeeper puppet for the illuminati.
Thank you so much my grandma didn’t stand a chance!
All games and fun until when Joe says"my turn"
Joe doesn't know how to hold pads properly...
Joe’s kicks are amazing, but does anyone else see the irony here? They’re instructing how to kick and proper foot placement/movement, but you can’t see their feet...
bruce lee throws a 'round kick' Ip man just steps to his outer edge and yawns... XD those kicks are totally useless in rl fights most that try always fail as they lack speed and power and cost the user way too much energy lol facts!! ;D
1:35 Ah yes the bane of Taekwondo. The bad habits of letting your hands down kinda ingrained on pretty much all taekwondo student and it showed every now and then even as they cross-trained in other martial arts
I learned from a Korean Tang Soo do ins. And the heel of your bearing leg is supposed to turn an point at target at full extension to generate full devastating power and turn hips over
Joe feels fatigued just by standing... He has heavy breath xD
You and Joe are always great together. I really hope to see more videos of you two!
Argarosh kenellenkarkkenn kakka leigro Masha masha *MASHAA AAGOOL*
turn your hips over when youre throwing your kick
Thank you, god fucking bless you.
Can I explain how to make the strongest possible thrust kick here? My thrust kick is my strongest forward-facing kick, always has been. Since he's still healty enough to do this right, let's see how strong he can thrust kick.
Isshinryu thrust kick:
The heel is the weapon. The leg comes up and you push your buttocks forward into the kick as you extend the leg for maximum power and torque. I can thrust kick a 225lbs standing water bag and make it fly about 10 feet across a room I've walked it off before in the dojo. This is from standing guard with no running start. Combining a thrust kick with a windmill block becomes what we call "combined submission/striking" and we pull the opponent down into the thrust kick or a knee strike from a potential front wrist lock position. Kicking opponent repeatedly results in opponent tapping out or verbal submission.
Thank you for clarification on hand position when throwing the roundhouse. This is seriously the best explination of it I have found on the internet.
I am in Thailand and have been taught both ways (hands up and swinging hand). I have read every argument on the internet and you seem to be the only one who explains that it can be done either way and the pros and cons of each rather than just arguing for the technique you perform. You da man Joe!
....footwork...camera angle...and all that...Anyway the equivalent to the jab in Boxing is NOT the round kick. Or, at least, shouldn't be. The front kick would be more accurate to use as a comparison. And then again, the "boxing" jab is still allowed in mma 😉 you start throwing round kicks to someone who's good with his hands and you'll soon realise that a ROUND kick is NOT a very good "tool" to check distance, reaction ECT....if you like throwing round kicks fair enough I'm a big fan myself. But I don't agree it should be compared to the jab
Personally i like keeping the pads split when i hold pads for someone.
He talks about pivoting on your foot as the camera man fails to record the position SMH loling
Trick I was taught, engage the hammies when recoiling to get your leg back down faster.
sure you have learned a RoundHouse Kick from Joe Hogan, but have you ever tired DMT?
I just tried this at 2AM and fell on my fucking ass
The dude is actually throwing those kicks with a little TOO much power for a beginner. It's better to get your technique, balance and timing down before you throw 100% of your bodyweight into it. Pretty decent kicks for a beginner though (I'm assuming he is one).
If Joe Rogan is teaching you roundhouse kicks you probably shouldn't be throwing roundhouse kicks.
Joe rogan is legit. Master. Of himself first of all then he. Knows some serious styles. In martial arts. And eddie bravo is calm down to earth. And very dangerous. In his very own 10th planet gyms all over. He also is no joke much respect. For both of these of. Pros
Wonder boy has better guides because he show foot work, and shows every step in the process. If yall wanna learn from scratch I would say go to his channel. There is a difference in power and technique though. Joe throw taekwondo style and wonder boy throws karate. Joe has more power, but the kick is a little more telegraphed. Probably worth practicing both styles, but Wonder boy is more beginner friendly.
this is absolutely tragic camerawork
Fairtex pads are the best. I just got my KPLC5’s last week. Pad work is iron body training too on top of everything else, for both the striker and the pad holder.
Why kid ourselves, we all came here to see joe rogan kick so wtf
The cameraman is just awful. The video is about kicks and he crops it out of frame. Simply Idiotic.
As soon as I saw the feet position I understood everything
Joe seems really nervous
Oh shit.. not bad! wouldn't want to get hit by that. Surprised... Aubrey looks so wimpy
2:30 Dafuq .... should he kick with his feet or is shin ?
Is it not bad to kick the Thai pads with your instep/ foot? I imagine it would be good to consistently hit with your shin to prevent injury, I’m not expert though.
FYI dude is not wearing a yamakah he has a hard part to the left
That's a power roundhouse, where the knee is lower. He needs to lift his knee higher to do a proper roundhouse. Higher the knee higher the kick. The kick should not involve the toe area hitting the pad. That's a recipe for injury. Further up the foot is the correct area of contact. Black belt TKD.
Aubrey breath when you kick. You tensed up every time. You will not get as tired.
I think Joe learned kicks from Bas Rutten.
no he was a tkd national champ back in the day
back in his day, TKD didn't kick like that. Those leg kicks are 100% Thai.
+sidesplitters good point, i guess he probably did learn from Bas
abhishek sunny
ha ha - you're like me!! I sometimes say stuff then someone explains their point of view, then I say "Yeh, I think you're right".... You're like me - we allow ourselves to change our minds without feeling weird - it's a rare and awesome quality to have!
+sidesplitters lol yea
I’d love to be trained by joe Rogan
Why is Joe Rogan about to cry here while explaining the roundhouse kick?
Finally! No slippery floors for Joe this time so he can show his technique XD
In a thai style the heel of his support foot would point towards the opponent/target, reiterating what Joe said about following through, this guy is anticipating hitting the pad so he looks a little off because it seems his supporting foot is at best, toes pointing at 10 o clock, not 6 o clock to the target, different styles, ones a leg kick, shorter range, hands up style, other is longer range.
forgive me for having bad thoughts while reading your comments everyone, forgive me for everything.
This was good. I like Joe Rogan
Why would they not have someone who can actually kick ? like Aubrey should hold the pads....
Nice one camera man.
Find you someone who looks at you like Joe Rogan looks at Aubrey Marcus
Joe...you do not throw your hand down properly! It should make mor the motion of an old school karate chop and there should not be any shoulder rotation like you are adding.
The reason you teach hands up is because the rear hand/lead shoulder position is where your defense is...which most people do poorly or do not know how to teach.
My foot hurt after just watching this
Wouldn’t that have been hilarious if he accidentally caught Aubrey with the head kick
Not that best but definitely not his first rodeo
Aubrey hits fucking hard!!! Sod getting hit with that.
Round kicks are NOT as important as jabs. That's nonsense
2:40 I was expecting the meme where the guy throws another kick and makes Joe fly across the room.
would have been an awesome video. but horrible camera work. just zoom out more and then keep it fixed. i dont need to see the feet close up while they hit the pad. i want to see their entire body. including how they stand on the ground!
Joe,the 5'7 type of guy nobody would dare to call him manlet nor midget.
Did a freshman film student produce this? This is a roundhouse kick video, show me the feet.
Joe Rogan has no skill standing up
Question If you are facing a South paw fighter won’t that hand that’s down give the Open shot for a punch or kick to the head of the righty?
Can somebody please tell me the name of the background music
