Right? Because much like irl grooming, online grooming can be disguised as friendship for a long time and can creep up on you from there. I was groom online from 14-18 by a group of older guys. I was vulnerable, since I'd been picked on severely at school and didn't realise how much I needed some reassurance/praise/affection. I did block them shortly after my 18th birthday, when I realised enough was enough and plucked up the courage to run, but once a groomer is in your head they have many ways of dissuading you from blocking them, by getting you to depend on them or feel like you owe them a favour or such.
I was groomed once and now is when I start to realize that happened. 10 years ago, i was doing an internship at a recreation center when one of the older male employees was being extra "nice" to me. He bought me food, asked me if I liked going to the movies or if I was seeing anyone, hugged me really tightly once. Dude was a weirdo for sure. Luckily, some of my other co-workers warned me about him and told me to say I was in a relationship. I remember feeling very uncomfortable 🤦♂️

Sometimes you can have no idea what’s happening for a long time. Sometimes you can realise what’s happening right from the get-go, but even then you still don’t know how to escape. There are so many different kinds of situations where sexual abuse can happen, and it can happen to anyone. Males, females, children, adults. It can happen in a workplace, in a school, in your own home. I can’t believe this still happens. It’s really not okay. I’m glad we have people like you raising awareness about these kinds of things.

The abusers looked hurt about why the person they were coaxing would suddenly turn on them when they were going so long without saying anything. It's a minor detail, but one I greatly appreciated that was included. Sometimes that final breaking point can make you seem like you were over reacting and being rude or it may even seem like it's your fault for leading them on in the first place. It's a guilt wrenching and confusing experience for victims, but the thing is no one should ever go along with something they're not comfortable with.
Because of it before seeing this I am happy that I have perminantly left those kind of groups who were literally on purpose sending porn stickers and gifs to the group chats and I have never ever ever ever ever watched it and will never watch it it is disgusting I think that they were trying to make me and other people who never watched these kind of stuff try to make us be like them like a bunch of wild animals who have never seen women's and men's before and I am never going back there cause those people literally crossed my boundaries multiple times and tried to groom me into them. 😒🤢

Everyone can be an abuser and everyone can be a victim. No boundary can negate. Gender, race, religion, etc. does not have any weight in the situation when it comes down to sexual abuse or rape. I unfortunately was groomed when I was 11 to 12 by a 20 something year old man on discord.. He gained trust and manipulated and talked about..explicit stuff with me and all that stuff..I knew it was wrong and I was so scared. But I didn’t tell anyone because at the same time I cared about him.. I *trusted* him. One day when I turned 12 I finally had enough of what he was doing to me and so I left a server he put me in , unfriended him and blocked him. I’m so glad I could get myself out of that situation and I’m glad nothing happened to me physically..though the disgusting shit he talked about and said to me and asked me to do (obvi refused) still sticks with me.. Though I’m free now :))

Well, for me it's more of the prossess of waiting. I heard from some documentary that your cells die out and grow in new ones so that in seven years, it'll technically be a body that your abuser never touched.
My dad works a 11pm to 7am work shift and he always is trying to catch up on sleep. When me and my brother were little there was a lady who worked for our school that always asked my dad if she could baby sit us. My dad mentioned her being very insistant and rather uncomfortable in her constant asking, so my dad never agreed to let her take care of us because of that off vibe she gave. We recently saw on the news that this women was now being sentenced to prison for multiple child abuse crimes. Kinda makes me wonder what could of happened.

Grooming can happen to adults. It happened to me at my last job(I was 31/32 at the time).This 55 year old man who worked in the deli told me that he saw me as more than a friend, after having friendly conversations and giving me little gifts or money. I told my bosses who told him to stay away from me, but he didn't listen. I told my dad, who's a 6' 4" grizzly bear of a trucker, and he came to my work one day(I was on my lunch break when he came). When the guy came in for his shift, he immediately came to me and tried to give me money, but I insisted that he keep it. When he got to the backroom, my boss took him back where my dad was waiting, and he told my dad that he was a "Christian man who believed in marriage before sex", which made my dad furious and he tried to play dumb and said he was "a little slow" when my dad told him I had said I didn't see him the way he saw me and that the gifts and money giving made me uncomfortable. He warned him that if he didn't stay away from me, period, that the law would get involved. He pretty much quit his job in the deli after that. But about a month later, he showed up at church one Sunday, and my mom and I sat as far away from him as we could get. He testified in church saying that he wanted to thank his "Good friend Lauren" for encouraging him to go to church again and said that he'd been sick for a while and asked the church to pray for him to get better. After the service, my mom and I were going to a baptism later that afternoon and we were waiting on our friends to finish up so we could all hang out until it was time to go to the baptism. Well, old Herbert the pervert came up behind me while I was talking to my friends and placed a hand on my shoulder, asking how I was and acting like he never confessed his feelings to me a month ago. I tensed up, but I never said a word and kept my back to him. He said he was ready to talk whenever I was and walked off. My friends noticed how tense I was and my face was almost paper white and I was shaking(he came to church the Sunday before he told me that he loved me and when we were getting ready to leave, he told my mom and I that he didn't want any of the kids near his van because he had "weapons of self defense" in there). My mama told my friend's dad what was going on and asked if he could distract him while we made our way to the car. He tried to follow us, but my friend's dad insisted that they go out the other door. Thankfully my mama and I were in her car, doors locked, etc., when he stepped outside and looked around like he was looking for us. After that we filed for an order of protection and we came to the agreement that he he would not be allowed at our church, the grocery store where I was working, or anywhere near me. I've changed jobs since then, but the whole thing scared me so bad, that I never leave my house without my pepper spray or pocket knife. Thankfully I haven't seen hide or tail or him, and I hope it stays that way

Anybody can be a sexual abuser so the only one you have to look out for yourself, it's really hard to think everyone is a good person. For all those who are questioning why this is in their recommendations the answer is yes, it is due to RUclips algorithm but that doesn’t necessarily make it meaningless. During this pandemic children are at home far more than usual due to the quarantine and as you know, child abuse tends to happen at home and in private places more than anything else leaving children victim to abuse exposed to 10 times more abuse than usual. This recommendation is also being sent to a certain range of ages, estimated to be from ages 12-17 years old.
Something similar happened to me once on the bus. It wasn’t anything too serious, and the old man asked for permission to do everything, and I agreed, thinking it was just friendly. He reminded me of my grandfather, and I never thought someone like him could do something like that. Even though I was 20 at the time, I felt guilty. I kept asking myself, “I’m a man-how could I let this happen?” I cried, I cried a lot that day. For weeks, I couldn’t get on the bus without feeling scared. It was horrible.

I was vulnerable, since I'd been picked on severely at school and didn't realise how much I needed some reassurance/praise/affection. I did block them shortly after my 18th birthday, when I realised enough was enough and plucked up the courage to run, but once a groomer is in your head they have many ways of dissuading you from blocking them, by getting you to depend on them or feel like you owe them a favour or such.

The abusers looked hurt about why the person they were coaxing would suddenly turn on them when they were going so long without saying anything. It's a minor detail, but one I greatly appreciated that was included. Sometimes that final breaking point can make you seem like you were over reacting and being rude or it may even seem like it's your fault for leading them on in the first place. It's a guilt wrenching and confusing experience for victims, but the thing is no one should ever go along with something they're not comfortable with.

My dad works a 11pm to 7am work shift and he always is trying to catch up on sleep. When me and my brother were little there was a lady who worked for our school that always asked my dad if she could baby sit us. My dad mentioned her being very insistant and rather uncomfortable in her constant asking, so my dad never agreed to let her take care of us because of that off vibe she gave. We recently saw on the news that this women was now being sentenced to prison for multiple child abuse crimes. Kinda makes me wonder what could of happened.

After the service, my mom and I were going to a baptism later that afternoon and we were waiting on our friends to finish up so we could all hang out until it was time to go to the baptism. Well, old Herbert the pervert came up behind me while I was talking to my friends and placed a hand on my shoulder, asking how I was and acting like he never confessed his feelings to me a month ago. I tensed up, but I never said a word and kept my back to him. He said he was ready to talk whenever I was and walked off. My friends noticed how tense I was and my face was almost paper white and I was shaking(he came to church the Sunday before he told me that he loved me and when we were getting ready to leave, he told my mom and I that he didn't want any of the kids near his van because he had "weapons of self defense" in there). My mama told my friend's dad what was going on and asked if he could distract him while we made our way to the car. He tried to follow us, but my friend's dad insisted that they go out the other door. Thankfully my mama and I were in her car, doors locked, etc., when he stepped outside and looked around like he was looking for us. After that we filed for an order of protection and we came to the agreement that he he would not be allowed at our church, the grocery store where I was working, or anywhere near me. I've changed jobs since then, but the whole thing scared me so bad, that I never leave my house without my pepper spray or pocket knife. Thankfully I haven't seen hide or tail or him, and I hope it stays that way
