There was one famous incident where American commanding officers went around the village, telling the shop owners and publican, to not serve the black soldiers. They were having none of that. The black soldiers were welcomed and the white racists were banned. We don't like unfairness.

@@CharlieDust942 There is a saying that a people get the government that they deserve. I am inclined not to judge people by their government.

@@stephenbrookes7268 That depends on whether they elected them or not. The British people, for example, since 2010, repeatedly chose the scumbags who gave them Brexit and its consequent xenophobic self-destructiveness. The British people therefore got the government, and the country, that they - if not deserved - voted for.

This is straight up European propaganda. Anti racism wasn’t even a thing until the American culture brought it to Europe.

That is why they are British, that is why among many other reasons they still hold respect globally despite being without their former military and political power for nearly a century now.

My grandparents said the US blacks soldiers were very welcome but were definitely a talking point as most people had no prior knowledge of African American culture

There was a brawl in an UK pub because the US soldiers wanted black soldiers to be banned from entering. The UK soldiers protested and had to teach the Americans that this is not the US

So white AMERICAN soldiers wanted their fellow AMERICAN soldiers (black ones) to be banned?? Or did they want BRITISH blacks to be banned?
That’s wild that they would’ve wanted their own fellow American soldiers discriminated against by a foreign nation.
