Maybe the story is a reminder that no one comes back from the underworld. But the living shall be united with their loved ones once they die. That life should be lived forward and not to look back in agonizing faithless worries.
Thanks so much for that reading of this myth. I was familiar with this tale, but only from the printed word. I'd never heard anybody recount it verbally. Your telling of it almost (almost) got a tear from me 🙂
speaking of reincarnation, I need you guys to look up an Egyptian/belgian singer called tamino ( u can check indigo night or habibi) right after watching this video bc holy hell
This story is connected with the three day descent in the underworld of Sumerian Goddess Innana. Your ego is totally absent for three days, thus you are dead for three days (“Katabasis”), and you bring a grieving revelations (“sparagmos”) from the abyss. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katabasis en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparagmos
Obviously, Orpheus turned around but HE=mc2 didn't turn her around on his trip 👣as his own MUSE=mc2 ECK🗣️🎸🎶 still stills all of the Rock💎'n Rolling Stones 🎺👂right to the rib🩻bones!
@@WorldHistoryEncyclopedia Yes. This movie is an absolute masterpiece. It plays out tales of Orpheus and Eurydice in what was, at the time, modern day Brazil during Carnival. There is some mixing of the African (Yoruba - Ifa) religion with the Ancient Hellenic tales as well. This movie is what inspired many American Jazz musicians to visit Brazil and led to the development of Bossa Nova which is a mix of Jazz & Samba music. This movie is a must see.
Hi, Just like to inform you of a song, it's called Like Orpheus by a band called Orphaned land and a vocalist from a band called Blind guardian, powerful just like the story

I also am a huge fan of his work and the classical studies.
Reminds me a little of the story of Lot’s wife from the Hebrew Bible. Don’t look back.
There are lots of similarities between ancient myths and biblical stories. 🙂
Very informed and well said Kelly! Bravo!

In contrast to Plato, I often found that Aristotle was quite a fool

Perhaps...Love will eventually win. Orpheus and Eurydice are together for eternity.

Maybe it was Eurydice who asked Orpheus to turn around
