I love making your kefir soda! Learned the hard way, though, that my homemade grape juice ferments really, REALLY fast. Like six hours fast. Also, the only bottle I ever lost had a tiny bubble in the glass. My advice is to check for those because they are weak spots in brewing bottles. When that bottle blew up in the fridge, it was powerful enough to knock the fridge magnets off the outside! Still chuckling about the great grape explosion as I continue to make these tasty drinks. Thank you, Donna, for your experience and for the recipes!

When starting a new batch from a current bottle, should I include some of the sediment from the bottom of the bottle, no sediment, or does it matter? Thanks

How many times can you reuse/reculture the kefir soda?

I've used it over 30 times. As long as you keep doing it within a few weeks of each bottle it keeps working.

I checked everyday for 3 days. I burped once everyday and I only noticed the fizz day 2. Day 3 when I went burped it it exploded like someone shook up a soda and my wall is purple. Other then the mess, it taste great. I don't want it too sour so I put in in the fridge after the explosion.

I would want it a little sweet. Does adding the water make it taste watered down and not sweet? Is there a way to keep some sweetness in it?

Is water kefir and kefir soda the same thing? I tried to google it but couldn’t find anything about it! Are you using water kefir grains as a starter culture?

Once I start making the kefir soda, can I take a break from it if I need to? How long the soda lasts in the fridge

It will be good for 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator. Flavor and fizz may change or weaken over time.

My first bottle made with cherry juice/water exploded (like champagne; hit my face, hair, ceiling, window, cupboards across the kitchen, 😅😂😂) after 2.5 days. I'm in Florida and my house is 77 during the day. I burped twice a day and ugggghhh!! Should I have put it in the fridge and then tried opening? I take it 2 days is all I need in my kitchen?? Help before trying it again...!!

Had the same happen to me when I lived in FL with blueberry juice!😂 had to repaint the ceiling! Yes, it definitely helps to put it in the fridge before you open it! I would use maybe less juice, never shake it and don’t let it sit out for that long. I usually let it burp now every few hours! She also mentions in her new video that fresh fruit juices are more potent!

You’re talking about milk kefir made with milk and milk kefir grains. She’s basically making a type of water kefir. Both are fermented beverages in a different medium
