Has a very Kubrick look (thinking especially of 'A Clockwork Orange') although he would avoid keystone distortion by keeping the camera strictly level. That B&W shot of the Art Nouveau staircase is wonderful and really captures the chatacteristic superfluid lines typical of the style in a way that a standard lens could never fully capture!
It's like having Quake Pro FOV in real life.
reminds me of my Opteka 6.5mm, for EF mount, have not used in years. Will pull it out and walk through Cologne, especially the Christmas markets.
This is so close to recreating the ultra wide lens used on Fallen Angels! I love it!

I agree they are fun ultra wide lenses with specific uses. After the 9mm non-fish-eye review, why do you switch to comparing to fish-eye lenses instead of other ultra wide non- fish eye lenses? The Irix 11mm f4 is a great affordable ultra wide non-fish-eye available in most all mounts that is very close to the same Field of View.

The laowa 9mm f5.6 is actually the widest of all the rectilinear full frame glass, it's a couple degrees wider than this one

The Voigtländer 10mm is very nice and high quality!
i cannot recommend enough to get a "Soligor MC Zoom Auto 35-70mm f2.5-3.5". It is a zoom-lens for the old mounts (i've got the FD-Version) and features an okay low f-number for an old zoom, has an integrated short lens-hood and an additional ring to turn this lens into the macro-range (up to 1:2.7), which is absolutely perfect for small flowers and such. Also has a beautiful bokeh when shot open. I recommend you take a look onto this lens, it is not that expensive, but i really love mine.

Voilà plus de trente ans que j'utilise des objectifs très grand-angle et la leçon que j'en retiens est qu'on se lasse vite des images aboutissant à une forte convergence des parallèles, alors qu'on ne cesse d'apprécier l'ampleur de leurs potentialités pratiques et artistiques en évitant les prises de vue en plongée ou contre-plongée.
Il me semble trompeur de présenter les fish-eyes comme une alternative aux très grands-angle car leur perspective est curviligne et non rectiligne, si bien que leur usage est tout autre.

It’s great fisheye lens with distortion correction.
I would like to know it’s efficiency on purple fringing. Fisheyes with lots of purple fringing are waste of money.

9mm is quite the leap from the 14-35 I have. Just remember that it is not a great portrait lens. It functions very well as a caricature lens though.
Have you tried putting an anamorphic adapter on this wide a lense? I'm just curious to see what that would look like.
It would look like a gigantic black image with a tiny tiny circle in the center of usable image, too much vignetting

is that lens a rebranded Laowa? because i've seen very similar results with the Laowa 9mm 5.6

Cool lens. What I find missing in most lens reviews are the actual specifications of the lenses. This review is no exception. This lens has a diagonal FOV of 132 degrees on a FF camera. For comparison, the Sigma 12-24 has a maximum diagonal FOV of 122 degrees on a FF camera. A standard fisheye lens is supposed to have 180 degree diagonal FOV though that is not always the case.

I have their lens, but the 10mm one is much cheaper and I use it occasionally. From my recent purchases, I can recommend the Kamlan 50mm f1.1, a very fast manual lens.
